      I just wonder how Ursa learned to understand English. Does he intuitively understand French too? I don't expect anyone to know, just wondering out loud.

    Duncan probably met every single immortal that ever walked the planet in his short 400 year life! Every time he meets someone, it's at least for the second time and he always has flashbacks of their first meeting.

    Ursa is latin for bear (modern scientific name is Ursidae). The character lived in a cave in the woods, and was hunted. Referred to as a confused animal and that it would be hard to flush him out.
    Also seems the episode was Hunchback of Notre Dame influenced.

  • @jamesisaak8651

    Carolyn; what a great allegory about giving power (stardom) to one who feels disenfranchised. They haven't earned it and have no idea how to handle it and use it to settle grudges or abuse the authority!
    My best example is the famous college study where students were separated into prisoners and guards. Soon, the guards abused the prisoners because having some power went to their heads!
    Well, she got what she deserved! What a fantastic episode!
    Truly reflects our current political times!

    Adrian said in an interview that the actor playing Ursa was extremely incompetent remembering the choreography, which resulted in a snapped handle (you can see at 44:22 and 44:33). I guess the dude bit him for real, too, resulting in Adrian threatening to kick his a$$ . . .

    Fablan, I think he only met Slan once, Felicia Martins, the cop in Innocent Man, the crazy guy in Mountain Men, the guy in Eyewitness, the FBI agent in Manhunt, the hitman in Epitaph for Tommy, Nephertiri and Constatine in Pharoah's Daughter, the guy in Samurai, the kid in They also Serve (but he wa fairly new), Mikey in The Innocent. See, there's a bunch of immortals he only met once.

    If Ursa was a Neanderthal. He'd be older than Methos or The Guardian of The Source.

    • @mattlewandowski73
      @mattlewandowski73 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well there is some evidence that the neanderthal survived to the 17th century when an expedition to the canaries reported killing a group of savages, and gave a very detailed description of neanderthal. The Neanderthal reference seemed to be more along the lines of big dumb and strong. More likely though a medieval birth defect with mental function in the fashion of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, thus combining elements of the Hunchback with the Phantom.

    • @barbyonabike
      @barbyonabike 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is no evidence that neanderthals survived to the 17th century. The canaries were first inhabited by humans are 1000 AD by people of north African descent.

After she was killed, he almost immediately got back on his horse (Badonkadonk was its name). It's so sad Richie didn't get to experience a Clittening for even a decade of his immortal life.

    • @MikeSmith-vl5em
      @MikeSmith-vl5em ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah they would because the horse can forehoove strike and back kick but it would also depend if Duncan uses an actual katana because they are meant for horseback fighting and the wakazashi or however it’s spelled is for close quarter sword and the majority of sword fights but judging by the fact that he hides it unsheathed under his armpits all the time I’d have to say he doesn’t use a katana and his sword would be to short for mounted sword fighting

    Well there is one thing: McCleod never met a blind immortal did he? It'd be cool to see him fight like some big immortal "Zatoichi" guy or something.
    It'd be cool to see him fight a cannibal too......not the fine young cannibal Xavier St. Cloud but a crazy cannibal killer immortal. We know how he gets rid of his kill. ;)
    Has he fought a ninja?
    It was cool that he fought Roddy Piper but there would be a certain irony to it if he fought the immortal Hulk Hogan. Even more so with Ric Flair. They should've tapped more wrestlers as villains.
    As crazy as it sounds, has he fought someone with a chainsaw? There were just so many types of villains that didn't get tapped.

    Is it realistic that the shafts of peasants' pitchforks could be so easily sliced off by a sword wielded with one hand from horseback?

    • @derthilo787
      @derthilo787 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes. pitchforks weren't always in perfect condition, at least not forever :)

      Montage326 What an amazing eye you have to see that fraction of a second! But it's there, sure enough. Easy not to notice with the beautifully stunning scenery for the sword fight atop L'Opera with the Paris skyline in the background!

      in another episode there is a moment for just a few frames where the sword breaks when hitting a broadsword sized sword and flies over the actor/stuntman's head. no sooner does it fly past the head and the sword is whole again. tis better to have a stage sword tempered softly to allow it to bend than to have it hard enough to shatter if hit wrong. lessons learned perhaps. you will find a lot of bent swords in background fights in old samurai movies as well.
