The show was great for seasons 1-3 then it went downhill from there, as a lot of successful tv shows typically do. The writers forget what made the show special (i.e. the interplay between the characters, the mysticism, the combination of action WITH light hearted moments of humor, love etc), they get lazy, the studio cuts the budget and then you get garbage as you must have seen in season 6. Even Adrian Paul wanted nothing to do with Highlander by season 6!
They should have made it so that the bodies of the decapitated immortals just dissolve in the energy rush of the quickening. That's a good idea actually. Honestly, a Highlander series remake in [current year] would've been really good. Many flaws from the original series could be fixed, and many new issues, such as the difficulties of being an immortal in the world of total survelliance, could be raised. Add improved choreography of fights and some interesting characters and you'd have a really good show on your hands. Shame that even with the remake streak, nobody's doing it.

She would have been a much better replacement than the wishy-washy doctor. When the man came back from the dead, (which was were the doctor joined the cast) Randy's digging into the "miracle" would have been a logical reason to keep her in the cast. I'm sorry. I didn't have any use for the doctor. To me, she was an annoying whiner. Randy's questions and Duncan's sparing with her made for a better plot line. The anticipation of " will he tell her the truth about himself?"; "how will he tell her the truth?" and "how will she react when she knows he's an immortal?" were far more interesting than the doctor's feather brained insertion into the series. I don't know what Randy's contract negations were. However; I think it was a big mistake not to be bring her back to the series. She was fun to watch as a reporter when her path crossed with Duncan. It wouldn't have made sense for her to have been immortal too. Why wouldn't she have told him? Wouldn't he have sensed that she was immortal right from the start? In the first show, both Duncan and Connor hinted that they sensed that Ritchie had "a long lifeline." Richie was an orphan. His foster mother's husband, Jack, was immediately suspicious to Duncan. Duncan knew that Ritchie had to go make the search for his "real" father. Duncan was always nearby to protect Ritchie when he eventually would be disappointed. I wish I'd have a Duncan in my life when I began my search for my biological parents. It hurt so bad to be rejected by my "mother" again. Cinedigm Hi, I was just wondering if you have any other old shows like Neon Rider and Kung-fu: The Legend Continues? I'm sick of the new shows. They have far too much virtue signaling.
age dosent always factor in Richie had a pretty good count for being less then a decade old, i can say its probley from one of two things. 1) Duncan was out of the game for over a century hes known but could be seen as rusty. 2) training and experience a head hunter immortal is going to train learning new fighting styals and putting them into action if it came down to a fight between say Darius a immortal thats close to 2000 years old who hasn't touched a sword in over 1000 years or say Richie a 3 year old immortal who was well trained and has basically been fighting at least once a year sense his immortaly was triggered im going for Richie
@@seanbraley2772 Richie was also getting some training before he became immortal as I remember, and being aware of them before he actually was immortal weirdly might have helped, but I wish they did more fights with him and kept him around. It'd be an interesting viewpoint, a young immortal having to deal with others with literally centuries of experience over him (admittedly I've only seen the first two seasons).
@@DanteCorwyn thats what im saying a immortal who trains and fight regulatory will have the advantage over ones who dont sense they dont know each other before all he knows is the story hed have heard of the highlander and the main one would be that hes been out of the game for a hundred years hence his belief he stood a chance
The irony is that if Ballin had just told MacLeod, "Yeah, man, I hated to do it, but she was going to expose immortals to the world. What was I supposed to do?", there's a decent chance Mac would have let him walk . . .
Ballin was a mixed bag. Seems like a bad guy but in a way even most good immortals would have understood Cause people have realized there are others like Ballin if they knew what he really was
no, because she was going to expose them *only* if he did not stay with her. For an immortal the time that she had to live was nothing. He could stay with her see her die and be done with it: no need to kill her. The problem is that he values a minute of his life more than her life, a mark of a sociopath.
@@jaimeduncan6167 true. Plus when Duncan said How many other mortals have you killed ? Ballin 's response being Does it Matter ? Showed Ballin only cared about himself and implied Anne wasnt only mortal he has killed in cold blood.
Love him or hate him that Cop gave Duncan a good duel . Very good back and forth, quite strategic . From his comments he was very much a head hunter hence his skill.
+Henry Williamson Yes, you are right, Tom Butler has done a great job, even if Ballin wasn't an ancient immortal. According to the Highlander Wiki he was only 82 years old, born 1911, immortal since 1944!
Gotta wonder how they manage to keep up the masquerade, what with the collateral damage you inevitably get from a Quickening. Really, I've been wondering since I watched the original film.
I always enjoyed watching Highlander The Series. I think the first 3 seasons were the best, then it started to go downhill with the quality of the writing for seasons 4, 5 and 6. My favorite is the 1st season as I really enjoyed watching Tessa, Duncan and Richie together, they made a great team and you could relate to the characters. It's a shame that Alexandra left the show so soon as I would like to have seen her character stay with Duncan across all seasons.
I think the quality lasted a bit longer than that, if only thanks to recurring guest star Peter Wingfield (I get the impression Methos was his all-time favorite role). The jump the shark moment was, I think, Richie's beheading at the end of season five.
@eggiex1 Probably that being a cop is a good job for an Immortal? A body trail might be easier to cover up from the inside. That and positions of power like a Sheriff or Police Chief are easy to abuse if your a person with less than stellar morals like both those Immortal happen to have been.
Though the background checks are probably more stringent and you're around people who are (meant to be) more observant than average. Though I loved the classic "Bomb with visible digital timer".
I like how no one ever is around at the fight scenes even though there are sparks and lightning and really loud noise. And in this episode, the light is on in the window behind them in the fight scene. Whoever was in there wasn't paying attention or what? "Hey, Fred, there are two guys running around with swords, should we call the cops?" "Naa, its fine, there probably matinence workers removing those lampposts." ***** "AAAHHHH Lightning!!!" "It's probably just a little short they're fixing."

they usually try to fight in places where people wont come across them but thoses places are getting smaller and smaller i think i read in one of the books they made based on the show that the watchers recruitment pool had jumped over the last 50 years and they were worried that the it would be soon impossible to hide the fact that the immortals existed
He must be the sloppiest immortal ever. Can't shake off a woman following her, commits murder in the open, goes to a safehouse in a car and plants a bomb, may have done the same thing over several times.
Duncan first died at 30 so assuming he hasn’t aged for 400 years, old lady could have assumed he was 10 or younger twenty years ago. Which is enough to think a kid wouldn’t remember a specific painting
he and Tessa don't look that different in age yet people "think" shes the older woman in the relationship Connor was 16 when he became immortal according to the original script Duncan was a little older in his 20's so in universe he would have been a little kid
Why is the black cop dressed like he's a 1940s detective in 1992 when the show is being produced LOL he is so out of place I keep expecting him to say the word gumshoe LOL
Haha - that's funny. It's like Batman (the early TV show) where they'd use big, fat labels on everything so the home viewer can identify what something is. "Access to the Batcave via Batpoles . . . Bruce . . . Dick" th-cam.com/video/mjKyGs-G6Sg/w-d-xo.html

The later Tessa was talking to... Wasn't that the Grandmother from Charmed?
this immortal in the chronicles has less than 100 years old, he sounds very confident against duncan been so young
It's always undefeated versus undefeated. Plus, only takes about 40 years to be a master swordsman.
@@efisgpr many of them have been defeated and survived some run when they realize they can't win or survive because the battle is interrupted.
age dosent always factor in Richie had a pretty good count for being less then a decade old, i can say its probley from one of two things.
Good try Mr. Policeman.....but you were just another one who would bite the dust.
Ah, the dialogue.
"Does that bike of yours still... haul ass?"
"Like Madonna's underwear."
I love that line.
I didn't realize the part of Richie, while parking the car, was played by a girl. 🤣
@fun4thefeet it wasn't a reporter, it was a photographer. I think the episode is called studies in light.
where did the green car go?
Swords cutting through lamp posts!?!... What are they, lightsabers?
The pyrotecs must of had soooooooo much fun making this series ❤!!!!!! I bet they hate cgi!!!!!
The irony is that if Ballin had just told MacLeod, "Yeah, man, I hated to do it, but she was going to expose immortals to the world. What was I supposed to do?", there's a decent chance Mac would have let him walk . . .
Ballin was a mixed bag.
Seems like a bad guy but in a way even most good immortals would have understood
Cause people have realized there are others like Ballin if they knew what he really was
no, because she was going to expose them *only* if he did not stay with her. For an immortal the time that she had to live was nothing. He could stay with her see her die and be done with it: no need to kill her. The problem is that he values a minute of his life more than her life, a mark of a sociopath.
@@jaimeduncan6167 true.
Plus when Duncan said
How many other mortals have you killed ?
Ballin 's response being
Does it Matter ?
Showed Ballin only cared about himself and implied Anne wasnt only mortal he has killed in cold blood.
35:00 "Are you alright?" (I'll live 😁 ... no I just love all this attention ...)
Tessa is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏
For real a true beauty!
exactly under 2 minutes??
No flashbacks in this one.
A heroic swordsman is not meant for domestic bliss, much better plot and adventure potential with a single Duncan.
TY MUCH FROM KANSAS USA (=
I like how no one ever is around at the fight scenes even though there are sparks and lightning and really loud noise. And in this episode, the light is on in the window behind them in the fight scene. Whoever was in there wasn't paying attention or what?
"Hey, Fred, there are two guys running around with swords, should we call the cops?"
"Naa, its fine, there probably matinence workers removing those lampposts."
*****
"AAAHHHH Lightning!!!"
"It's probably just a little short they're fixing."
🤣 lol Holly McDowell
reminds me of the nosy
neighbor talking to her
husband (ugh! Can’t
remember their
names!) 🙄 on an old “Bewitched” episode! Hope *someone*
remembers what i’m
talking about!? 🤷♀️
🙆🏼♀️ *AARGH!!* Of _course_ i had to stop
and google, driving me
CRAZY! So the nosy
neighbor on _Bewitched_ was _Gladys Kravitz_ and
the sad sack hubby
she was always yelling
at was *AAAABNER!!*
OMGOSH they were _GREAT!_ 🥰 Yes, so
what does this
have to
do with
Highlander?! 🤷♀️
And yes you’re
absolutely right,
NOTHING! it’s
actually
prolly illegal
for me to
type right now
anyways. lol🌬
Sorry. 😬😘
🤣🤣🤣
they usually try to fight in places where people wont come across them but thoses places are getting smaller and smaller i think i read in one of the books they made based on the show that the watchers recruitment pool had jumped over the last 50 years and they were worried that the it would be soon impossible to hide the fact that the immortals existed
DUNCAN MACLEOD JUST PUNCHED VENUS FLYTRAP!!!
Duncan, did you decapitate yet someone else? I have my suspicions.
...
Ah well. Donut time.
-cop.
Strange, I'm now in the mood for coffee.
He must be the sloppiest immortal ever. Can't shake off a woman following her, commits murder in the open, goes to a safehouse in a car and plants a bomb, may have done the same thing over several times.
Well he is quite young. Only became immortal in ww2 and not even a 100 years old yet.
yeah, forgot about that, good point
these sword fights are great when you play show at 1.5 speed!
Duncan does not look too young to have seen an art exhibit 20 years ago...
I agree he could have had just great youthful looking skin to him!
Does anyone noticed that Duncan never kills a immortal in his shop?
Kyle Campbell that's because it's the same site he built his cabin on which is holy grounds.
Mmmm, nevermind. 😏
dude, blood spilled everywhere. need to clean that up.
Wakky Wabbit lol! 🙄
He likes it clean and tidy
When tv had a reason to watch
Why is the black cop dressed like he's a 1940s detective in 1992 when the show is being produced LOL he is so out of place I keep expecting him to say the word gumshoe LOL
I was just thinking that.
Yeahhh but Tim Reid could pull _anything_ off! He was a great actor! So handsome too! 🥰
46:24 very Bogart.
smh
how that passenger window get fixed so fast? that t bird must be immortal too
not only that , in the next scene Mac is shot in front meantime the shooter is at his back?
This made me laugh my ass off i about put my truck in reverse and hit the ol ladys car behind me in a stupper
In the background at 13:08 girl pushes on the wrong side of the door.
its a good job that none of theses flash buildings that macleod is always fighting in front of has cctv. or he would be in real trouble.
Duncan is immortal and tess' legs go on forever......hmm
Aww that’s so cute
Daniel Byrne! 🥰
Why does the Paris Police have an American police officer with an American accent?
How come everytime richie is with a girl it only last like one episode. LOL
25:31 this lady was in another episode. She was a love interest for some gangster.
