I hate the pay to win scheme, which also ruined DB Legends for me as well. Found myself spending too much money just in the attempt to keep up. I loved that game, I often redownload it but quickly uninstall, there’s no point if I’m not planning to spend money and way too far behind. Good to see you back man. Happy gaming.
People need to be taking about this more! The problem is people pay for this crap therefore it will stay. I've heard rumours that GTA6 is going to be £100 to buy not including all the micro-transactions. Happy to see you're still around Thrash! X
I'm glad I didn't grow up with this crap. It all starts to make sense when you realize that a developer/publisher being profitable isn't enough for shareholders. It has to be _more_ profitable, year over year, forever. Every single year, they have to find out how to extract more money from you than they did last year. There is no amount of profit that is _enough._ Your entire paycheck won't be enough. Your entire paycheck and your entire credit line won't be enough. _Enough_ doesn't exist.
Ya, the larger problem comes from injecting market based valuations into entertainment providers. It starts to hollow them out. It's part of the reason movies have become so shallow and derivative on the whole.
I understand developers need to earn something for their hardwork on it - but charging over 30$ for a game is already insane to me, specially if theyre not providing the quality i expect to have when i play it. Games nowadays are extremaly overpriced - or have expensive gacha systems on them. Hence why I just pirate them now lmao, inflation doesn’t only hit developers, it hits those who want to play something at a decent price too.
So you said 50 USD bought you Zelda in 1998 yes? That same 50 bucks has the buying power of about 98 USD today. Games either need to cost more, or companies need to find a way to get people to spend more, even if it's a small subset of the gaming population that has enough money to spend it freely. Hence the birth of DLC's and microtransactions. The danger of microtransactions stems purely from the financial illiteracy of modern people. The number of people my age who have no idea how to make financially smart decisions is insane. I have watched friends spend a little here and a little there on games, subscriptions, and doordash, etc and they them complain about their credit card bill at the end of the month. Meanwhile, I plan out all expenses, and I will cancel a recurring expense if I want to pick up another. If you want to argue that we deserve a functioning and full featured game on launch. I can get behind that, but I don't for one minute think that I'm getting shafted, and part of that is because I just buy shit when it's 45-50% off anyway. PS. Saying it's not just inflation is likely true. I would be interested to see the headcount and time investment difference of big titles in the past compared to a modern title such as RD2, GoW Ragnarok, Witcher 3, etc. Again, I should clarify, I am very careful with my money. I can think of one game that I paid full price for in the past 5 years, and it had no DLC and was complete on launch. I don't feel like game companies are trying to yoink my money because even as someone with compromise impulse control due to ADD I don't struggle when it comes to waiting for a game to go on sale.
It really depends on the game as far as being “shafted” or if the game isn’t fully finished on launch. The bigger issue is that the gaming industry has found tools to extract value from people without them realizing the amount of value that’s being extracted.
I actually made money on legends due to my channel. The issue I had is that it was destroying people with gambling addictions and was basically telling people “waste your money or you’ll never be good enough.”
Never spend more than the price tag is my rule. If a game needs micro transactions to enjoy, i atop playing.
A good rule.
Welcome Back Bro you made the best Legends Video back in the day
Thanks for the memories!
Welcome back Thrasher! I also quit DBL just over a year ago. Finally broke the prisoner chains tying me down on that game.
Glad to hear it!

Gaming is heading in a pretty ominous direction. Hopefully we can turn it around.

Agreed 100%. It's going to keep getting worse until consumers start responding.
100$ for a game is absolutely insane, hell naw, i would just wait ‘till its up on free sites
@kuroohazamak Too right! Playstation Premium for the win!
Good to see you posting again
It’s good to be back!
We started with horse armor, how did it end up here SMH
A long and winding road. I'm sure I'll cover the path at some point.
I actually bought the horse armor... It's so my fault. 😅
Brooo what happened too dragon ball legends 😭😭
I actually mention it about halfway through the video and why I stopped.
I'm so happy you're back!! Thank you Thrasher!
Glad to be back.
YOOOOO, been a while!
How's it going
Things are great. Happy to be making content again.
Yooooo, new dbl tier list when? 😂. All in all, how have you been man. It's been a looong ass while
I've been great. I have lots of content coming, but I should probably make a general update video.
@@Thrasher66099I will await patiently my friend, good luck on the comeback journey
And this is why I stick with mostly single player games, though i'm also diligent to not get roped into those that have exp boosters or time savers.
Sadly even single player games are starting to get polluted with unnecessary microtransactions.
I agree with most of what you are saying but when that GTA 6 comes out people are gonna buy it even at 120 dollars
Which isn't necessarily bad. There's a balancing act between high upfront costs and bludgeoning people with microtransactions.
this guy got a home studio and microphone good upgrade.
And a thunderfury!

Part of the reason for always online games is for anti piracy. There’s a cause and effect to everything.
