i've just seen your video, any issues with that airbox? i wanna know if that make any good or shoul i buy the 300$ airintake from revo witch it s basically the sam(same 2 ways top let the air go in) buit made out of carbon
Sorry for the late reply. I think you won’t notice much of a difference going from this setup vs. true aftermarket system besides the noise. Filter on a stick type system will definitely generate more whoosh noises
Hey man! Was thinking about doing this on my MK7 GTI, was just wondering if you could give some feedback on the intake noise in-cabin? Does it make a noticeable difference? Also, have you had any issues with rain..etc? Im up in the cold/snowy winters of Canada, so i'm a bit hesitant. Thanks!
Tbh, I can't hear any of the induction noise inside the cabin. It's no where as noticeable as an open box filter intake. I haven't ran into any trouble wet-weather related yet. Hope it stays that way!
PK I was just wondering why that “snow grate” is there. The snows not going through the air filter to go to the intake hose right? Or is it to just keep the air filter dry which still doesn’t make sense to me
@@rkingslandjr83 As per Tim Thompson "that is a restriction grille under the filter it lowers induction noise and emissions for compliance into the country".
I have the CTS intake which is abit more open. Do you think I should cut my holes out too? I am worried that water and dust will go straight into the CTS air filter and intake. Whats your thoughts bro? Also A few more questions if you dont mind :P How do you feel about the big padding right underneath the bonnet? Some people take it out to hear more engine noise. Do you plan on taking yours out? Do you think this will make the engine bay hotter or cooler during summer?
Hey man, I've thought about it too. It raised some concerns, just for moment. I don't think it would be much of a problem for rain/snow, or at least I hope not. We would need to hit precipitation at all the right angles for it to even hydrolock. As for the dust, that's what the filter and grate is for. I removed the insulation in my MK6, and definitely heard more intake noise. In the MK7, I left it on because I don't have space to store all the stock parts that I take out.
Youll be fine now a the old school cold air intake use to go to bottom of fender well and get a shot load of air but then you hit. Apuddle and suck up water and stall motor or worse lock it up..these are fine they might get a lil wet but its omay thonk of the water meth they shoot water into air path monitored of course but just to show you youll be ok
No drastic change in sound. I can hear the turbo spool with the windows down. But definitely much quieter than open intake. Sorry about the videos not playing, you're not the first one to mention it. Hope the issue gets sorted out!
Yup it's louder, but only if you're paying attention. If you want sound, try the filter on a stick type intake. I e. CTS, Injen open box ones. Downside is that it'll draw in hot air, I think. After owning a couple on the MK6, I think this K& Nsetup is best for me.
Nice! Although I hear during rain storms if you drive with those cut out you get water sucked in by the air intake. Let me know if this ever happens to you. Thanks! I am thinking about drilling a few holes in mine to get increased air flow.
Wow mate worried about getting your hands oily lol do yourself a favour don’t touch cars you don’t no the difference between a bold and nut there screws mate and you shouldn’t be undoing them with electric tools as you strip the SCREWS and yes that is a restriction grille under the filter it lowers induction noise and emissions for compliance into the country
Tim, it's his car let him do what he wants with it. I'm curious to see if any of his mods cause problems like with Rain and Snow. If we don't let him do this then we will never know.
Awesome! Let us know if you feel any performance gain...
A lot of people take the snow guard out for even more increased airflow, not sure though if this is something you'd be interested in doing!
Depends where you live and how much snow you get and how much is actually going to get in the filter...
yes do it so important my car was actually rough idle because it wasnt getting enough air but removing this helped heaps

You should remove that snow grate, you will get much better flow. There is a water drain on the bottom of the box so I wouldnt worry about it.

Difference of the induction noise or not ?
I think, I take snowquard out on spring and put back on autumn. Decided for K&N filter.
👍👍
Any benefits for cutting the intake on both sides at all?
Just more air flow
Does it make the engine/turbo sound louder can't play vid

But bit louder than stock filter I guess right lol. I need to replace mine soon but dont want to spend 300 on a full cai

t yeyea the ones that run for like 300
Mach das schneesieb aus dem Luftfilterkasten, dann hast du mehr Klang
whats the number of the air filter? is it 333005
Yessir.
33-3005
any noticeable power gain??
Nope.
Secondary injection?
your stock paper filter is really thick!!
Get a dremmwl sand wheel their cheap af and you could clean up them nasty lookn edges and make it look stock😎👍
👍👍

Thanks! So far so good, after a few snow encounters and heavy rain storms, no hydrolock yet 🤞
@@ilimit awesome thank you!!!
you obviously haven't looked at the many aftermarket air intake assemblies allowing direct from front cold air inlet.....ala APR
just buy a cold air intake lmao
Sometimes I think about the IE system, but no space for stock parts in the apartment.
AFE>K&N
Ehh same thing dude
Total waste of money
Ya?
Tell us more
Just like your life.

Talk english please.
it's a Snowfilter not a "restriction grill"

Leave the dude alone he doesn’t need snarky criticism.
Have you ever heard about something called punctuation?
