Same for all MQB platform cars. There is also a plastic part you can buy to block the hole on your passenger side so the air being scoop goes to the intake instead of the engine bay and removing the snow guard also helps.
I found that you want to take that plastic block piece off in the summer it keeps the engine and the oil a little cooler UNLESS you do alot of city driving, then keep that thing on. My engine temps are like a full 20 degrees higher at idle or in start and stop traffic when I take that plastic piece off in the summer. But if youre moving most of the time keep it on. The car runs hotter than it tells you it does
I added this (along with the ECS Luft-Technik intake system). I used the provided template and mine stuck just fine; I lined up the holes and thought I was doing a good job but my install isn't right. It'll work but it's crooked. OP's install is nicer than mine. I suggest you skip the template and just eye-ball it.
That’s a pretty cool little mod. I’ve been looking at that air intake for a couple months and this is the best how-to take I’ve seen on this. Subbed an looking forward to following your mods. One thing I’m wrestling with is adding camber on the front, and looking for simple weight saving items for autocross. One of the smaller batteries is something I’m considering for race days.
ECS is the only place I shop at about to get the APR stage 1+, I'm planning on a same build good for the everyday family man but fun for the driver in the back roads.
Hi, thanks for this video very interesting, been thinking about opening up the drive’s side on my GTI, since I can’t find any open dual air intakes, wanted to ask if you felt any difference with the car after this mod, would you recommend it? I still have the stock airbox, bigger turbo elbow, larger intake pipe & a drop in filter.
@@joshwilkinson4177 opening up the intake will only give you more turbo sound on a diesel, that's why I've done it. No performance benefits. If anything then maybe the turbo might spool quicker if you add a thinner filter like a pipercross but I didn't really notice. For performance get a remap
On my 7.5, it has matching factory slits on both the driver and passenger side if someone wants an OEM look. I still had to open up the intake duct as you did though. Maybe this was part of their improvements for the new 10hp more on facelift models?
Need your help i have uk mazda mx5 mk3.5 1.8l ventura edtion it dosnt have cruise control but I'm thinking of buying another steering wheel with the buttons on it and installing it will this work.
@@ColoredinLight I'm in the market for a 2021 and was looking at the older ones in reference and my God VW....what were you thinking lol. Still a kickass car though!!!
hi since 3y something go inside like a stone or something else?* wait a minute when u clean ur car its obvious the water gonna go inside easily right? 😂
There's still a filter any debris would have to pass through in the intake. Water wise, it would have to be a deluge to travel through the intake system and flood the filter so no worries there. It's all been fine.
Lol and I thought my dremel job was the worst out there. Makes me feel better I'm not the only one who was fine with just shredding the thing up. Who cares. Fuck that thing

keep up this series! I really enjoy it! :)

Dam bro I just bought a mk7 and looking at your build it’s amazing little by little

Good choice!

I also have a NC Miata and a VW but a Passat. For the Passat I have a OBDeleven of course.
I picked up an obdeleven as well!
u also couldve bought the dual inlet luft technik snorkel from ecs
Done the same intake mod except for the grill thing and the ECS inlet. Even then I got a lot more turbo sound (im on the GTD Though)
Is the inlet scoop any good with the GTD? Ive been debating to get it but don't know if it'll actuallt benefit it

Thought so, I've already taken out the snow filter below and cut the additional holes out the main feed, extra turbo sound is always a plus though
do these really work?

I cannot find it on ECS site!
Pregunta, como puedo conseguir esa entrada de aire.
I got the set but, in black... Stealth Mode 😂
Nice!
Do you have to worry about water getting to ur turbo with this mod?
Doubtful, driven in the rain for multiple hours and everything is fine.
hi,
is it not possible that water gets into the suction while driving in the rain?
Doubtful
@@ColoredinLight really?
Yea
Or pressure washing the car
I removed the whole cowl now all the vents are open 👌
That works too haha
@Bryce Czirr agree
Dope video! What’s that cutout in the front grill? Is that for the license plates? What’s the product name?
Cutout in lower grill is for the front assist sensor
love the intros!
Thanks!
You taken snow guard out of intake under filter?
Yeah

You sure you have the right video?
Can I just cut open the vents and leave a open rectangle instead of installing the vent? Or would that be unsafe for the intake
I'm sure you could but would look a little sus
i want to buy , can you give me link for oder ??
BTW are you thinking of tuning the ECU?
Definitely at some point!
@@ColoredinLight nice
Also possible for the 1.4 tsi? even though the intake is a bit different?
This is kind-of cool I would do both sides just so they match
I did!
The only thing you don’t have a link to is the actual product !
I dont like to link out to products that I pay for. Especially if I havent decided if I like it or not yet.
Colored in Light fair enough, it's just the type of thing I've been after
Mine is from ECS tuning and its call an Air Inlet Scoop!
Oh god, those sensors in the bumper are HIDEOUS!!!!
Omg I know right

link to the part?
I dont usually link to parts that I paid for myself. It's from ECS tuning.
@@ColoredinLight I couldn’t find it on their site.
Tight.

It's not there if you can't see it
All water 💦 will get inside of intek
Hmm doubtful
It was raining the last 2 days and drove the car around no problem
I agree. Would be curious to see how damp the filter gets after a drive home in the rain.
None damp
👌👌👍👍
$160+ for both sides lol what a joke
🤑🤑 it's not that much lol
VW PLASTIC it's a combo of fiberglass and plastic
