as a collector of any little thing that brings me joy, i absolutely adore physical copies!
There’s just something different about putting a physical game into the console. It like signifies in your brain that you’re starting the game instead of doing it subconsciously
liss you're glowingg ✨ i also avoid digital games w a passion, there's nothing like seeing ur entire collection physically instead of on a console library
💋💋💋
digital games don’t scratch nor break
@@LiberalTubesucks physical games can't be pulled out of an e-shop and you can still buy them and play them after the e-shop and the servers have shut down.
You can't loose everything you have if you forget your password, or you get banned, or your account gets hacked.
Also, with digital games, there's no more second-hand game market.
Companies have full control over them, including the price (monopolies are dangerous), like I said before, if they pull them out of their shelves for no reason (it has happened before for quite a few games and apps), censoring...
+ storing EVERYONE's digital games and data on servers uses so much energy... Physical is also more eco-friendly, by far, and it's only going to get worse if people leave out physical games completely...
@@wikia3266 glad that physical is dying as its less plastic waste
@@talusoftheskadrin9773 physical is literally more eco-friendly than digital... Do you know how much power and water it takes to keep the servers working? To cool them down? To upkeep them? Have you seen the size of those gigantic server farms? And it's only going to get worse as more and more people go digital and being online becomes a requirement...
Physical games all the way! The only time digital comes in handy is the freebies you get online, waiting for the physical to go down in price. Game collecting is such a personal process, thanks for sharing. Mine has changed over the years, so expect it to evolve and just go with the flow. My best advice is that mom and pop shops always have better deals. Check some out if/whenever you travel for other reasons. Almost feels like a present to yourself when you find that game you’ve been searching for ages. Love the collection.
totally agree with you - i just picked up The Witcher 3 on Xbox One for £2 second hand. I know it's now an "old" game but it's new to me, and I'm stoked to play it. If I wanted to download a digital copy, according to the Xbox store it is £7.49 (reduced from £24.99 apparently). And mine also came with a (physical) map and the soundtrack CD. I've been buying games in that very same way for the last 10+ years... even games that are 2 or 3 years old, people throw out and i grab um dirt cheap!
“I didn’t try to get better so I gave up” me with literally any online game 😂
Here in NZ our Wii Sports DEFINITELY came in a normal box. Awesome collection hon 🥰 I love how you've got a story for each game!
I really like seeing smaller / newer game collections. I feel like watching a collection grow is almost more interesting than seeing someone with a very large established collection. Of course both kind of showcases have their own high points. But I think it's really fun following along and seeing what someone chooses to get for a smaller collection and why. It makes each individual thing a bit more important
i love physical copies it’s so fun to have all the cases lined up, i’m so excited for this new variation of content from you!! so comforting to watch your videos
Randomly found your video (TH-cam recommends is sometimes amazing), always love seeing how different people collect their games, along with the stories they tell, this was very fun to watch Liss! Great work :)
Unfortunately she doesn't really read comments much I recommend checking out
loved this!! i've also recently been very into buying physical versions of media so this was such a nice watch :') i hope my collection can grow as well
A remaster is just a port of the original game with higher graphical resolution. A remake is built from the ground up using the original as a reference blueprint
Thank you for speaking about physical media, it’s the best way to support and own our fav games / movies ❤
Unfortunately every digital copy of the game brings more profit to the studio than a physical one which sucks because it is way more fun to have your favorite games physically but the costs stop many promising indie developers from that decision because it is simply too expensive and the truth is the small companies need our support the most, so buying their titles digitally is sometimes better, obviously it doesn't apply that much to AAAs and such
What panparkiett said is right. You like nostalgia by collecting physical, just say that.
@@TyGreenGoblin nope, I don’t want to be tied to internet and streaming. I want to really own what I buy.
Excited for this new era of content! I have successfully been lisspilled
in theory remasters are supposed to only have graphical improvements while remakes change the actual game mechanics, design, story, etc
Remakes, as their name imply, are games that are rebuilt from the ground up on a brand new engine with new assets and so on, while a remaster nowadays is just a fancy name for a port with (usually) better framerate and resolution aswell as updated UI to reflect the new system they're on. An example of remakes would be Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 that released over the last few years, where as a remaster would be the recent re-release of Metal Gear Solid
@@aSkycladYou’re forgetting about reimagining. Resi 4 is a reimagining because it changes level design, core mechanics etc. A remaster is a port, like you said. A remake is usually defined as a game with improved assets, better textures, improved lighting etc but everything else stays the same. A good example of a remake would be Halo Anniversary.
@@BobBobOnTH-cam A remake *can* be a reimagining. CEA is closer to a remaster than a remake since it runs on the original game engine and just has an updated graphical layer made by saber interactive
@@aSkyclad A remake is when a game has improved graphics. By that definition, Halo Anniversary is a remake. A remaster is a port that perhaps has higher resolution, DMC HD Collection is a good example of a remaster. There is a difference between remake and reimagining. Halo Anniversary is a remake. Ratchet and Clank (PS4) is a reimagining.
Thanks for mentioning bookmans! Never been there but plan on going next week and I'm so excited! Love your collection and hope to build mine larger~
YESSS me too lol whenever I go back home I make it a point to visit bookmans
I just found your channel through this video, and I absolutely love it! This is one of my favorite types of content: people sitting down with a camera and gushing about the things they love. I share the same opinions on digital vs physical media, the future truly does scare me... but I won't get all doom and gloom on ya right now, we'll get there when we get there 😅 I'd definitely love to see an update on your collection one day once it expands a bit more! Great work here, keep it up! ❤️
Also, here's the key difference between a remaster, remake, and reimagining:
Remaster: original assets upscaled (same textures and everything, just slightly touched up and displayed at a higher resolution/fps - example: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition)
Remake: assets built from the ground up (example: Super Mario All-Stars)
Reimagining: completely original take on a game (example: Resident Evil 2 (2019))
Hope that helps! 🫶
Physical games are indeed important, glad to see more people joining the team on that. Yea, we don't know what the heck's gonna happen, also these little cases each contain some memories, and while you started your collection a bit later, your'll surely eventually find those cases housing little bits of your heart as well.
A remaster is basically just a quick update. A remake, is completely built brand new from the ground up. Love the channel ✌🏽
First time watcher, but this definitely makes me want to start buying more physical games in the future. Hope your collection grows nicely as well!
Phoenix resident here. Bookman's is great! I ended up trading in all my physical games to Bookmans years ago, so watching you talk about collecting physical games and mention bookmans is funny to me.
Right lol I’ve traded many a game and book there and always regret it lol
I think it's great you're really into physical and have this plan to document your collection growing. Physical is a great option of ownership. ❤
Digital just isn't the same
YES GIRL! Harvest Moon DS was my favorite DS game back in the day 😍 can't wait for you to play it!! I spent SO many hours playing and I have only good memories about it ❤
This is how it starts and sounds like you got the right motivations to keep the ball rolling. I wish you the best of luck on the wonderful journey of game collecting :)
I’d say remaster = same game but with better graphics, remake = game recreated from scratch with improvements to gameplay and other aspects, not just graphics.
This was just so pleasant to listen to / watch I hope you make more videos
HIGHLY recommended all the professor layton games on DS/3DS a video on the lore would be amazing!!!
Loved this video so much! I have the same feeling about owning your physical games so you don't depend of anything to play. I also have a notion section with my game, cds, blurays and figure collection. ❤
remakes are literally remaking the game from the ground up, usually on a different engine. Remasters are just touchups of whats already there, like a new coat of paint.
0:56 Now that's a fucking mood. Every few months or so I indulge and buy a new video game system for my ever growing collection, then proceed to mod the crap out of them to get the most out of every systems
I saved $20 on Mario Wonder, $25 on Totk, $37 on Pikmin 4, and $27 on Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe and I got these at launch at discounted prices thanks to my gamestop rewards. I wouldn't buy at other retailers at full price if I don't have to.
Good luck on your journey! Physical collecting is the way to go!
The convenience on downloading games is nice, but seeing how much all the old Pokemon games are from my childhood are now physical is the best.
SO GLAD to see someone else who loved Amiibo Festival, it's really fun!
This video made me realize I don't even remember the last time I bought a physical copy of a game. Last year while visiting the folks I discovered they had kept the SNES we had growing up with amazing games like Harvest Moon, Kirby Super Star, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World. It was fun to slot in these old cartridges and revisit some of those games.
really like your collection! ❤ thank you for the video
Welcome to the collecting club. I have a respectable sized collection now for 17 consoles and 4 handhelds and it's growing all the time. My favorite part about it is learning about the history of the games and consoles. I also like to learn how they compare hardware wise and their strengths and limitations. Physical game collecting in my opinion is important because it's a great way to preserve those games that might get lost to time otherwise.
Your consoles were homebrewed? Arrghhh, so your dad was a pirate? As a fellow tech-savvy dad with a slew of soft-modded consoles I feel your dad and I are kindred spirits
A remake is like 1:1 rebuilding of the original game with new assets, new graphics, new sound and everything. Example: RE4 Remake, Dead Space Remake, etc.
A remaster is like giving an old game a new coat of paint. This is done by simply tweaking the lighting a bit, make the graphics look less blurry, make the sound less crunchy, etc.
Example: Burnout Paradise Remastered, Mario RPG Remastered, Luigi's Mansion 2 Remastered
One thing I've been doing recently is looking into emulation and storing anything I have purchased digitally. Some of the mini pc's nowadays can emulate almost anything and a 2TB SSD will hold pretty much anything you can consider. Physical is king but it's also a good backup for any digital only games that can no longer be acquired
Loved the video! Your commentary is really down to earth. I feel like a lot of game collectors are so serious about that stuff and you're just like "meh didn't like that Pokemon, moving on..."
I love our funny little old 2000's tangible games so much and I miss them terribly too. That's why I love your content !!
honestly i find that smaller collections are more interesting to see. they say a lot about the owner since the games were often carefully.
also i’m glad i’m not the only one who liked Brilliant Diamond.
remaster means when a game is same but with diffrent graphics, remake is diffrent graphics but the story can be change too
Such a lovely video love the energy and enthusiasm! Wish we had a Bookmans in my country :)
i totally relate to that intro! my dad also homebrewed my wii and my 3ds collection was tinyyy so once i got my switch, i started to collect physicals and have been throughout my teenagehood!
Nice collection! I am now a PC gamer and many many of my games do not have even have a physical edition, but I growing up I used to love having all my cartridges kept neatly
Great video, would love to see updates to this, as your collection grows.
As for the remake vs. remaster thing, it's actually really simple. The terms are actually the same when talking about music. A remaster uses the original recordings and makes a new master, that improves on the original in one way or another, by for instance cleaning up the audio, or tweaking the mix, but generally not creating any new recordings. A remake of music, is generally re-recording bits, or the entire thing, kind of like what Taylor Swift is doing with her earlier albums.
The same principle applies to remasters and remakes of games. A remaster uses mainly existing assets and makes sure it runs on newer hardware, making minimal changes and additions to the original art and music. It also often uses the exact same codebase as the original game. With a remake, all, or a large chunk of assets are either thrown out, or updated/replaced drastically. Game logic is also often drastically improved, changed or made from scratch. Also, changes to story, larger gameplay tweaks and other overhauls are more common with remakes. It's more of a new take on an old game.
TWO LISS VIDEOS IN A SINGLE DAY BLESSED
Great video! Digital games are great but nothing beats having the actual game on the shelf
Remaster= Upscaling, audio improvement, and quality for life additions. Basically, it's a port.
Remake= Complete graphical overhaul with many improvements with a noticeable difference.
I love Simanimals, I wish we got new entries to the series. Great collection! ❤
Great collection! Mine is small too. Space is somewhat a problem, but I have a couple little diamonds I love.
New subscriber. Hope to see more of you!
As a collector, your collection is very nice and I love the story you have behind every of those games you picked up, keep going!
Cheers from Italy! ❤
Imo remake is starting from ground up and may have lots of changes rather than just graphical upgrades.
Remaster is basically using the same game but updating the graphics and staying true to the original.
Ahhhh I love this second channel! Please do more like this!
Remaster is usually upping the resolution of a game to suit newer hardware or just cleaning up visuals/overall quality in general.
Remake is taking an already loved game and recreating it entriely from the ground up with new assests and usually staying true to the original.
Then there's what I would call a reimagining which the resident evil series has done perfectly by taking the general beats and progression of a previous game but refining it and making it still have the essence of the original game but done in it's own new way.
Love the vid. Totally am also physical over digital every chance possible. Games, movies, music, books/comics...all physical for me. Keep collecting. Especially while you can for less than what it will cost later.
I’ve really started loving your videos on both your main & now this channel, so glad I found you! Thanks for making these videos, watching them really helps me calm down and de-stress after work. ❤
I recently saw a Wii sports box in my local second-hand store here in France and was like :0
I didn't know these existed either!
Anyways, this video is so wholesome, I just subscribed to your channel :)
If you want to start a collection, Xbox games (doesn’t really matter the system) are typically cheaper than their Sony counterpart. For instance: Xbox One games go for less than PlayStation 4 games
didnt know that, thx for the tip!
I love physical media! I moved to mostly pc gaming now and I feel so sad that there are rarely any pc games that have physical releases anymore. I know why but it’s such a shame. love to see other people’s collections!!
Great video, nice to see someone passionate about physical media ❤
When i was a kid i only had mysims agent and i loved it, i'm so happy that somebody else is talking about it.
Remake = from the ground up starting from scratch
Remaster = using the original as a base and improving it by upgrading textures etc.
Do all devs use the terms correctly? I highly doubt it, but that’s what they’re meant to mean, at least.
Completely agree regarding physical games. I have a cupboard full of Switch games all neatly organised and it gives me so much joy to be able to admire them all and play them 😃
i adore this type of content and hope to see more! i really enjoy collecting retro video games and consoles. i also think you'd love harvest moon: animal parade for wii! it's one of my favorites.
This was fun to watch, so happy someone else loves harvest moon DS cuz it's my FAVEEE
Stumbled across this vid and don’t know who you are but I demand more frequent updates from your collection, thanks!
u def should play super paper mario for the wii! it’s so fun/funny/interesting and the story is surprisingly deep and great!
nothing better than your favorite titles all sat there reminding you of the good times.
Kirby & The Forgotten Land is such a classic. I feel like it gets its deserved praise but is still underrated if that makes sense. Its one of those games that you just put in and play even after you've beaten it simply because it never feels old. Kind of like SMW for the SNES
I grew up playing Harvest Moon games and I would LOVE to see you do a series on some of those games. HM64 is my favorite.
If u have a GameStop card let the cashier scan the card, you trade in games to get points
Simsanimals is UNREAL, can’t wait to watch your series (please & thank you)
More videos please 🙏, your energy heals my depression ✨
Fr though this was nice to watch, and I can relate to your eBay auction buying addiction. I have probably been one of your competitors at some point, I love spending crazy money on Nintendo games 🥰
I’m a lifelong player that didn’t actually start collecting til I got to college. (As a kid I sold dozens of games so I could buy the newest ones 😂) but there’s nothing like building a collection! I’m at over physical 300 games after dedicating to collecting! Hope we get to see how it grows.
So beautiful I wanna cry!
cool collection, and I like your vibe!
Collecting can be a nightmare once you find some games are in limited quantity. But, I agree with buying the media you enjoy as physical copies, I started doing that in 2020. A shame physical games these day's don't come with game manuals though...[insert shameless channel promotion for making switch game manuals]
We have a place like Bookmans in TN. It's called McKay's. It's my favorite place to buy books and cheap games. Love this collection! My husband has a HUGE collection, but my collection is like 2 DS games and a couple Switch games haha
a remaster is the original game with improved graphics, a remake is the whole game re-made from the ground up. Remakes can be very similar to the original, or very different from it.
I grew up and still live in Jamaica and even though its harder to get physical copies i still try my best cause its so satisfying having a physical stack of games for me. Do you and try to get as many as you can, right here with you
Sims Bustin Out was amazing on gba, glad you had the chance to play that
It's a dope lil collection of games, I don't keep hardly anything anymore so I roll towards digital, when my life isn't in chaos anymore id like to go back and find what I no longer have, keep on rockin the free world y'all ✌️😇
Nice good luck with your collection! I grew up playing video games, but I never kept my old games. Now as an adult I wish I had, and I am trying to collect them again. I currently am double dipping on games, I buy the steam digital copy, and the physical on switch. 😆
I stopped collecting physical games when I stopped needing physical things to make me happy. I've been trying to sell off everything that I replaced with digital, but no one seems to want them, and they're all barely touched and I'm selling them all for $5. It's so nice to have to not give up more space for games anymore and to reclaim the space taken by the games I did sell.
GameCube, PS2, PS4 and Switch are my favorite consoles that I like to collect for. GameCube is very special to me. It had such good exclusives like Metroid Prime 1&2, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin 1&2 and Paper Mario: A Thousand Year Door. It's also important to me because it was the first console I bought with my own money. I didn't have any consoles or much toys as a kid, so when I became an adult, that's when I started gaming properly.
I was born in 2000 and started playing games in the Xbox 360/PS3 era, so sort of at the tail end of when physical was the standard for all major releases. I was lucky enough to have a really nerdy uncle who collects NES, SNES, Genesis, PC Engine, and a ton of other retro consoles. I totally agree with you on physical games. Really not looking forward to a time when so many of my favorite games will not be playable anymore, and in my opinion any game you buy, unless it's specifically a multiplayer-only game, should be playable in perpetuity. I'm NOT a fan of how major media companies are trying to redefine ownership, whether it comes to movies, games, or music.
Also there's something to be said for just collecting tangible things. It's very satisfying to see a collection growing and coming together. I've recently started collecting mecha action figures (Gundam, Voltron, etc) and my collection is still small, but it's so cool and satisfying when you complete a little subset of characters on your shelves. Collecting is fun, even when you're just starting out! 😁
PS: as a BIG Kirby fan, Epic Yarn is amazing!!
I used to be a big collector, (talking thousands) and whilst i totally get the fact you want to own your stuff, the reality will creep in at one point, be it disc rot or bit rot, they happen, and as a human for some reason we all like holding on to the past, but the archivists will be out there, so in our lifetime im not gonna worry about missing games and use the space for meaningful things, buy games cheap, forget about the rest, otherwise it leads down to a path of wasted time when it could be used in a more meaningful way.
Good to see you and so many others in the comments appreciating physical copies!
I don't mind having digital stuff but I love having a physical collection. To do a full game collection would take me an hour or so. Movies would be pretty dang close.
That's good little collection there! I also have a Nintendo heavy collection, with a healthy dose of Sega and Sonic.
love this !!!!!
Remasters are usually just updated games like upscaled graphics and framerates and remasters are games that completely overhauled like games like FF7R are old games that has been reworked to be in line with contemporary games
Lowkey, small game collections are more interesting because you have more connection to each game. Like I've been growing mine for a while and I have games I have not played but I bought years ago.
They actually did make a box/case for wii sports. It was "wii sports nintendo selects"
It made me laugh when you said that Kirby Epic yarn is very epic because it literally has epic in the name xD
I found you in my algorithm, likely because I watch people who make similar content like mystic or happy console gaming. For my suggestion, you should tell stories about gaming memories or what got you interested into certain things! I’ll sub!
Love this channel its a great second channel keep it up!
tomodachi life was such a mood. i don't know how good it is now, but back then it was so fun and different.
the first hyrule warriors is my favorite game in the zelda universe. not sure, how much i played it in the wii u, but on the 3ds and the switch i played it over and over again. for me it's just so relaxing to slash monsters.
and i love that you have a wii u. i recently modded mine, so i don't have to get up to change the discs. the wii u was so innovative, i don't understand why people didn't like it. i need to play zombie u again, played it last in 2012 🙈
This is a really cool video! I saw the notion list of yours and i was wondering on how do i get it to look like yours cause mine really looks messy and unorganized, could you maybe do a tutorial for that?
5:30 a remake is rebuilding the game from the ground up while a remaster reuses old code and assets
