absolutely. And we are so incredibly lucky that Manfred Eicher went to so much trouble to document as many of Jarretts concerts as he could. They created an invaluable treasure of beauty for eternity.
Yes sadly I only got to see him once. I was fortunate to watch Keith perform a solo concert in LA at Walt Disney Concert Hall 10 years ago. He is my favorite musician and love playing his music on the piano.
I remember sitting in my car listening to this on weak signal FM. Driving my car around to catch a decent spot. Then CASSETTE taping the broadcast of the 2005 NYC solo show soon after. Anything to catch some KJ ❤️🤘
for everybody who don't know who is Marian... It's the amazing pianist Marian McPartland, who's Radioshows are one of the most interesting insights of the greatest Jazz-Pianists of all time!
Incredibly brave for Maria McPartland to play and improvise for Keith Jarrett in his own home and on his own piano! Bravo, what courage! And she did very well.
@@jackcrane7853 yea they're really good and definitely influenced Keith but Keith's playing is so much more expansive. His absurd technical ability, pitch presence, and wealth of mastered playing styles makes him the greatest.

In all fairness to Marian, she was 88 years-old when this was recorded; whereas Keith was about 60. So, that explains some of the "light years," although to be sure, they bring two completely different styles and points of view. I can enjoy them both. This was a wonderful radio series. I miss it very much.
In terms of an arsenal of textures, colors, harmonies, virtuosity, yes, Keith is definitely ahead. But then, when she plays such a beautiful ballad in a very disarming and subtle way, these "light years" vanish.. She's never pretended to be more than she was as a pianist. I'm obsessed with Keith's music since 10. He's my biggest source of inspiration on the piano.
guscaldas3 I’m not sure that I understand what you mean by, she’s never pretended to be more than she was as a pianist, are you suggesting that Keith Jarrett pretends to be more than he really is? Jarrett doesn’t need to pretend, his brilliant playing speaks for itself. I’m sorry but I have to disagree with you about those light years vanishing. She was a decent musician, but not even one tenth the musician Jarrett is, of course this is just my opinion, and we all have them.

He absolutely did so much with his playing while he did though! ❤
Keith can still play with one hand and he does. Check out Rick Beato's interview with Keith at his home.
“I’ll play something that’s nothing until I play it…I’ll just do something…okay?”
Thank you Keith for your magic, may a beacon of hope illuminate his days and help him on the road to a full recovery...

The greatest Pianist since starting the recording era!!! No doubt ♥️✅👍
I loved it. He’s brilliant as always. Most amazing pianist I’ve ever heard. No one comes even close to Keith Jarrett.
So beautiful. I love Keith Jarrett so much. : )
I love how sweet he is to her. Class act.

i've always loved this interview and performance.
What a nice surprise! Thanks for sharing this wonderful collection.
I love Keith Jarrett!
Never heard him, except on the piano, thank you !
Marian was a great pianist, and her show was wonderful. Of course, Keith is also great. I appreciate this upload!
"Keith is also great "??he is the great after God Tatum.
Pure gold..oro puro
No, he’s not also great, he is the greatest of our time period.

Honestly this is the closest we might hear to God playing for us, pure channeled from above…
Thanks for posting this. I heard this live. I used to listen to piano jazz. As usual with Jarrett I was and am speechless.
I've heard quite a few of these, but not this one.
I'm sure this was unavailable when I was looking for it y ears back.
Thanks for uploading.
Thanks for uploading.Thumbs up.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great "live"
genius one in this world 🙏🙏
Thanks, I’ve been looking for it!
Félicitations bravo bravo bravo
I'd appreciate so much
love this
What a gift to the world…a giant!
great upload. thank you
His piano has 2 levels in this picture 😳
It's a harpsichord, not a piano 😂
@@igotbluesdevils That's correct, yes. I was being facetious 😉

@@henkvandenhurk1135 ... the photo is of a harpsichord, the recording is a piano
46:00 - 47:15 just to remember a wonderful passage
21:51 - another funny, switcher-oo title could be “Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There.” That one’s gotten me similarly to KJ’s eruption.
That's strange photo of Keith on a clavichord - not a piano...
What kind of Piano is that?
Why the photo of someone playing a harpsichord? Is that Jarrett?
I wasn't able to find the best photo, but he is Keith.
It's likely the harpsichord he has at home
やっぱりこのおっさんスゲーわ
Marian is a decent musician but not even anyway near Keith jarrett’s ability. The difference is about a million light years.
