The quran is originally partly (the so-called "meccan" surahs) a christian preaching book (or "lectionary") used by the anti-trinitarian jewish-christians called Nazarenes, they are called "nasara" (نَصَرَ) in the quran, while the trinitarian (orthodox byzantine) christians whom they fought and hated are called "mushrikuns" (مشركون) ie "associators" or "polytheists" because they associate Jesus to God (which is "shirk" شِرْك that opposes to Allah's unicity called "tawheed" تَوْحِيدُ ). So islam is originally a heretic christian sect.
The Quran is not a Christian book, even its so-called "Meccan suras". It's not even a book. It has never been composed as a book (even its so-called "Meccan suras"). It's much too heterogeneous to be a book. It's not a lectionary either since there are no excerpts from the previous sacred scriptures nor calendar indications. It's something else. Look on my channel for a video explanation.
@thegreatsecretofislam on the topic of Anti-Trinitarianism: is there a possibility that the original Judeo-Nazarene community could have been "Binitarian"*? It seems a bit odd that Surah 9:31 strongly suggests "Allah & Messiah" as one Deity to be worshipped in contrast to the 'Priests/Rabbis and Monks being taken as lords'... Also, there's an awful lot of "We" statements when Allah is supposedly speaking in the Qur'an in so many places... The only other alternative would be the Judeo-Nazarene community had a "Divine Council Worldview" but that again poses significant problems for the Islamic Unitarian perspective. At the very least the biggest conclusion is that modern Islam gets contradicted by the Qur'an itself! 😅 *I'm thinking particularly since the "2 Powers in Heaven" view that was very dominant in 2nd Temple Judaism and could have had a strong influence. Love your work and look forward to hearing more Inarah research ❤❤❤ Deiu Benisse!
@@johnlee7699 I don't see anything in surah 9:31 suggesting that Allah and messiah would be associated, quite the contrary this surah clearly states the unicity of Allah ! [9:31] "They take their rabbis and their monks for their lords apart from Allah and also the Messiah, son of Mary, whereas they were commanded to worship none but the One True God. There is no god but He. Exalted be He above those whom they associate with Him in His Divinity."
He makes absurd claims. He claims that sawm is a Hebrew word.🤣 Hebrew doesn’t even exist. Does he mean Canaanite? Sawm is an Arabic word. It has a three letter Arabic root. It’s not a borrowed word. The same goes for salat. Is this a scholar? He uses Christianity and Judaism as a criteria of truth?🥴
Simon here: Thank you for putting this video up, Prof Kerr's knowledge is outstanding
Salut du Brésil.
Saw it on Sneakers Corner. Great lecture!
I attended the conference with Mel (from Islamic Origins/ Sneakers Corner). We both gave lectures also but the videos haven't been released yet
Robert Kerr starts with a unknown islamic history that I have never heard or read. What are his credentials if I may ask?

Wrong. The Quran wouldn't criticize Nazarenes so much if that were the case.

Only the so-called medinan surahs criticize nasara, after their alliance with the arabs was broken after the conquest of Jerusalem

Is he a scholar or a Christian missionary?
He makes absurd claims.
