      Bad games with bad controls = shitty game
      Good game(?) with bad controls = Good game(?)
      To me the game looks fun, but if the controls are bad. Then this game is unfair.

    • @JohnthePhantom
      @JohnthePhantom 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      gurvmlk how does one know it was deliberate? did the makers of the game told you this, or guessing it? Either way, the game could need more work on it.

      +John the Phantom --- I Hate Google+. 1: bad controls are subjective
      2: some games benefit from a restrictive control scheme. especially survival horror.
      and lol its not unfair

      I was always sad there was not a single other game. Not on NES, not on the GameBoy, not even on Wii/DS Ware. Hell, if even Kid Icarus got 2 sequels... why not Ice Climber?

  • @SiGhast

    So, apparently you don't even have to play it to get frustrated with that puny fucking jump that is completely inconsistent with the momentum. It is the bane of my existence.

    This was in the original handful of games released with the NES and was the first game I got as a kid (for my birthday). I loved the heck out of it.
    If you take too much time advancing the screen upward the polar bear comes out and stomps, moving the screen up on you, but if you can reach him and smack him with your hammer he slides back into his cave.'
    After you die when you respawn you have some measure of invincibility so long as you do *not* hit any buttons. When you die, just wait to see where you show up first, then move.

    I have no clue why, but back in the day (1987-88), I remember this was the most often demo'd NES game in stores after Duck Hunt. If it wasn't Duck Hunt being shown on the display TV, it was always Ice Climbers. 2 different stores too.

    Ice Climber was a NES launch title in Scandinavia I believe, so it's very familiar here - almost every other home had the game if they had the NES console. I also think it was developed for Arcade too, so that might explain the controls...

      +Raziel The Japanese version had seals, as mentioned before. They'd often put the Japanese version in the bootleg cartridges, so if your game was a bootleg copy or one of those [random number] in 1 cartridges, then that might explain it.
