@@bakabaka73renovate can be used as a synonym to fixing structural problems the house will clearly show. Holes in the walls and roof, most probably molding walls and leaks of any kind. All the damage cause by possible pests and organic items. Also the hoarding Collection can be kept and put in a different storage, always accessible as a kind of museum for the guy,if he's that emotionally attached to it. By what was shown in the house tour video, I wouldn't be surprised if Asmon got some kind of disease or the whole house collapsed.

Living like this is a mental issue. my own father is a hoarder and he suffers from mental issues, like depression. These type of people who hoard need help because they’ve neglected their health, and just accepted and grown comfort to the toxic life style. Asmond knows he is not in good living environment, he just does not care anymore. We don’t know what he goes through behind the cameras, it’s just so sad to watch, he’s crying for help seriously. We can like the guy and still be worried for him. He's a human being like anyone else and hoarders usually share similar characteristics: Depression, stuck in the past, comfort in items they are afraid to let go to include garbage. We can put streamers and popular people on a pedestal and idolize them but that doesn't mean they are perfect or that everything is fine. He puts a lot of value and has random memories about the most basic item in there (salt shaker for example). He likely feels comfort from the garbage around him. I can sympathize even though it's not exactly healthy. Even the food he eats is ritualized to a point that he barely, if ever, tries anything new. He probably has a fear of change. Leaving that house and getting rid of items would terrify him more than he'd let on.

One thing he said "the thing I figured out is that I'm the only one not crazy" is exactly what some not in the right state of mind would say. Case in point, me. My house was a mess, a MESS. worse than his. I thought I was OK. No. The "I don't sleep in the walls" argument seems valid to someone in this state. My walls were dirty. But the truth of the matter was, no matter what I was thinking about them from time to time and giving the excuse "it's okay, I don't sleep on them" but now, after some help and therapy my house I keep clean. It's effects are on a subconscious. I feel good when I just need to pick up a few things and my home is clean now.

Born in Houston, lived all over East Texas. I grew up in houses that looked like Asmon's but I don't have the mementos like him bc my family moved over 20 times by the time I was 18 & we lost a lot. A lot of the time, we either lived with my aunt/uncle/cousins, or they lived with us, and it was 4 adults and 4 kids in a small space, and I usually had to share a room with my 3 cousins. My mom kept our home clean, but my aunt wasn't big into cleaning so the 2 environments were very different. Most of our stuff was free/found.
I've seen it all. I am so very, very certain that NOTHING in Asmon's house could actually gross me out. 100%.
Personally, I think Asmon would benefit from storage solutions, general cleaning, and organizing. He has all these momentos, but they are scattered and buried, and there are definitely aspects of his house that cause him stress. He's a very independent person and he doesn't want anything fancy, so I imagine it is hard for him. We all would benefit from a cleaner, less cluttered, more organized space.

The way he lives is a coping mechanism for some trauma
Asmongold therapy session coming real soon
Never underestimate what the loss of a loved one will do to someone, it’s heartbreaking; the mind and heart are so volatile
But for people who have never experienced loss, learn to be patient with those that have, life is subjective, people move at their own pace, and sometimes it never happens but this is how these people cope

Honestly, a live stream of asmon cleaning his house would be a massive view farm. It really didn’t seem that terrible and could definitely be drastically improved to a state that would be maintainable with a few days of grinding. The state of your house can either buff or debuff, asmon is definitely getting a debuff at this point. He needs to take pride in keeping his family home in a good state, it brings honour and reputation to build up a family keep.

I think it’s 3 things. Firstly if asmons mum lived the same way, asmon has grown up with the chaos so it doesn’t really affect him the same way as someone who grew up in a tidy home. Secondly I think he keeps it that way because it reminds him of (a) childhood memories (b) His mum (c) what asmon would refer as a “simpler time” you gotta think if he gets rid of all of it his getting rid of what’s left of his childhood/family memories. Or it can also be related to traumatic experiences in his childhood. Which is the mostly common case when it comes to hording.
