Hotwire and Unlock Steering Chevy Silverado

- I hotwired and unlocked the steering on my friend's 1997 Chevrolet Silverado k1500 when it got stuck. This also applies to other truck and SUV models from this year range.
I used only wire strippers, a hammer and the key.
To hotwire it: take off all the plastics around the key, strip the yellow, pink and red wires. Connec the red (battery) and the pink (ingition 2). Then touch the yellow to it which engages the starting motor.
To roll up the windows wrap the brown around the pink and red.
To do all the other stuff just pull off the wires and wrap them to the pink and red bundle.
For this truck the steering was locked up because of a faulty lock cylinder. There are springs inside the key that push out onto these sorts of levers which lock the steering. The springs can fall out over time and so what we did is we had to hammer the key into the ignition, turn the key with pliers while hitting the lock cylinder case (metal case where you insert the key) with the hammer to vibrate the parts that had lost their springs in order to rotate it.
When you want to turn off the car, just disconnect the pink and red, DO NOT rotate the key once the steering is unlocked, this will lock the steering up again and will be very bad if it locks while you are driving the car!!!

Conect the yellow to what
Yellow wire is to start it , the ignition for it .
The 2 pink wires connect them together and tap it with the yellow wire , that’s how it worked for me
Didn't work for my 98 Tahoe. It won't stay on. It turns but doesn't start up

With that car, you can just grab the ignition cylender with vice grips and force it over, no connecting wires and bullshit
When you do that it breaks something in the column right? I just bought a 99 tahoe that won't turn off (prndl stays on battery dead by the morning) and cranks right up with no key or nothing. Even though i swapped the lock cylinder with my obs still cranks without key or anything inserted. You think its the column?
I have a 95 gmc is it the same thing bc I don't want to rip out and cut wires if they don't need to be cut or anything, it's just a project truck and I need to move it the old owner lost the key to it so
I would imagine that it is probably really similar but I don't have a wiring diagram for the 95 so I can't say for sure.

dude I did all of that and I can't get the ignition to turn at all I just keep breaking screwdrivers and I hot-wired it will start up and shut off ofg start up and shut off what can I do if I see this is a 97 and mines is a 98 is there any differences please somebody tell me what I can do
Well in this video the key is in the ignition. It got stuck in there so I used a pair of pliers to force it to turn. Then I got the steering free.
Then I connected the wires like shown. Make sure that you have the right colors because some of the colors look alike.
Try connecting some other wires together. I remember that I had to connect some in order to roll the windows up and such, if that won't work then it is probably a fuse or something. Check your fuse box and battery cable connections.

I always laugh when people call them a Silverado. Your title should actually say k1500, not Silverado. I have the same truck and the only thing that says Silverado is a tag on the support bar behind the rear seats
Was gonna try this I got a 94 1500 with the 6.5TD no keys . Allready broke key off in the ignition . Only thing I'm worried about it now is the glow plugs for the diesel
How did you get glow plugs to work
Someone stole my truck, a 2001 dodge ram 1500. They must have pounded a screwdriver into the ignition to bypass the steering lock and gear selector.

So I connect the red and pink. Hit the yellow wire it turns over but don't stay running
Is their other wires I'm supposed to connect if I wrecked the one that connects to black plug that goes top of ignition
