2014 Chevy Silverado - Key won't turn troubleshooting. New key made

Customer originally called because the key stopped turning in the ignition and we took the ignition out and cut a new key by code. The customers key was worn down and even if we made a copy from his key it would still be the same. So a new key had to be cut by code.

I’m a fellow locksmith. I’m enjoying your videos Since you seem to focus on automotive. I have quite a bit to learn in automotive. But I have to ask. Why not just cuts test key first? That solves that problem most of the time for Chevy, Nissan and Toyota

The nature of the upsell. One key, or one ignition removal/clean & one key + program. He needs to confirm the ignition cylinder is in working order as well, so it’s warranted.

It wasn’t warranted. You cut the key first. Check and see how f it works. If it doesn’t. Pull and rebuild the ignition. He actually did nothing important to the ignition
