My favorite is KZ ZS10 Pro. I've been using them for 4 years and even though I buy something new from time to time, I still come back to them because I haven't found anything better for myself.
I just bought these and was a bit let down by the mids and treble and detail on the Zero:2s. I returned them. I own the KZ ZS10 Pros, and they sound far superior to the Crinacles, I hate to say it. Also own the ZSTs and they also sound superior. I just wasn't knocked out. Then again for $20 I guess the Zero:2s are fine if you aren't expecting a lot more detail. The bass is very good.
I hate to say it but the KZ has a sound signature suiting more my needs than any other iem I have tried in the past month: MD Chu 2, MD Lan, Simgot EW100p, Simgot EW200, Truthear Crin Zero Red, Salnotes Zero, Salnotes Dioko, KZ x HBB PR2. I returned all of them except the Dioko and the Chu 2 and had to return the PR2 because of a defect. Yesterday I dug back my KZ ZSN (which I have since 2 years) and my KZ ZSN Pro X and if they weren't hissing on my Roland Bridge Cast they would have been back into my ears; they are really good for footsteps in gaming (I play Titanfall 2 these days, which can be compared to Apex for the sound profile). I ordered the Kiwi Ears Dolce and the QKZ x HBB last night, I'll see if they can take the lead, otherwise I'm waiting for the KZ PR3 which I got at a great discount on AE. All in all, I hate to say this but KZ offers me the sound signature that suits me best. I hate it because of all the controversies surrounding KZ ...

My favorite cheap IEM of the ones I've owned was the tin T3. I liked them more than the T2 as they were just more fun i.e. V shaped. I like these for the same reason.
I bought the OG Zero a while back and love them. Unbelievable for $18 that I paid. Recently bought the Zero 2 and Ziigaat Nuo and they both are great for $20, albeit a different sound signature. Unbelievable how cheap these iems are for its performance.
@@pinepibble Like the fit and sound of the Nuo with small amounts of eq. Prefer the og Zero over the Zero 2 cause of the vocals. The Zero’s are easy to listen to, whereas the Nuo, when using eq, can have a slight hit of excessive highs. But it’s comfortable to me, I like it.
I bought the KZ you reiewed years ago and then came to your review of them after the fact and was excited for them to arrive, now I've bought these this morning and come to your review and found the exact same experience, I'm feeling pretty good about my choices Lol
I've had a lot of IEMs. For 50, 500, 1500 and 3000€. Today I'm with the Zero 2. With the FX9 tips , and Crins Bruel & Kjaer EQ preset, they deliver a sound at the highest level!
Install Neutron Player and go to "frequency response correction". Choose / load the "crinacle on Bruel & Kjaer 4620" preset. Set "frequency response correction" on. That's all.
ZVX is such a good sucker punch from kz to prove they still can do good when they want to. my issue was no other tips sounded good enough to beat the stock foams, and theyre not great foams :(
I was somewhat disappointed with the Zero2. They are decent, but I may have tainted my view by listening to the Castor black for most of the week before I got them.
lol the castor black is pretty great for $12-$20. It wouldn’t surprise me if that is better than zero 2. I think Zeos is overhyping these, they aren’t special. Sure a year ago they would have.
@@Hijynx87 Agreed the budget market has gotten nuts. Zeos loves and hypes most things, which is why I prefer when he does reviews with lots of gear, and has to compare.
@@JohnClarkW yeah I kind of wish he kept some stuff for comparisons rather than selling it off, but I get it. Plenty of other reviewers for that, like akros.
@@Hijynx87 They are special, them just may not sound like it at the first listen. They lack zest and that excitement factor which in fact turns out to be a con, not a pro most of the time. Things like huge breathtaking bass or exciting and sparkly treble, warm-broght "euphonic" flavor etc. It's very rare for earphones to achieve that kind of special sound without big detriments. In the absolutely majority of cases the sparkly treble is too boosted and eneven, which leads to auditory fatigue and actual hearing damage faster; or even huge ~ 10 dB resonance peaks like the OG Zero which are even worse and also result in distortion in the affected range. Poor volume scaling, source synergy dependency, somewhat unnatural or uncanny timbre etc. It's hard if not impossible to achieve really impressive "soundstage" and other "technicalities" otherwise, though, so a highly refined yet neutral set is bound to come off as unimpressive to anyone but the most discerning and experienced listeners. Zero 2 is not up there in that category yet, but it's very close. It has some "colorations", but they're very minor and carefully done - in a way that only few IEMs achieve even in the high-end. That's what makes it special.
I still love my Moondrop Quarks just because I have qudelix 5k and always EQ, and I like that tiny tiny form factor. But I'm tempted to buy this set........
Just picked these up after my KPH30i broke. They sounded great, but felt horribly uncomfortable. Turns out all the tips were too big and stiff for my liking, so I took the tips off a $10 Dollar General earbud and now they fit AMAZINGLY. 10/10, would recommend.
These are a tempting buy for me. But I love my Moondrop Chu 2. For 20 they are my favorite cheap option. Or just for the fun of it. The KZ EDA trio (3 pair) for 20 is also a fun one I love to mess with.
My personal favorite "cheap" IEM is TIN T3+. That IEM is just stellar for the price and its a go to for me. Coming from someone that has the FatFreq Grand Maestro.
I just bought the original Zero since it had a cable option that included a mic, control pod, and USB-C connection. I'd have bought the Zero 2 if it had that cable option.
@@Jasenkob I've looked all over the net. Aliexpress has some that are less than $8 USD, but the minimum purchase is 10 units. There are a number of Bluetooth options, like Nyx cable, but they are all over $100 USD. The Zero was only $25 USD.
You got me started with my first IEM years ago (2?) - with the Tin T2. Since then have gone through a dozen or more lower-end units. However, these are on order and hope to get some time with them. Although overall I wouldn't recommend them, the Fiio F3 sounded pretty good for $20 USD. The cable doesn't have enough strain relief so being non-detachable means that's going to break in 2-3 years (same place on both my units, in the y-split, left channel). Whatever the cable is made of melts, 'cause after some time it starts staining things it touches with the slightest visible drop of some fluid. I thought it was sweat getting stuck in a break in the cable, but it happened too often to make sense. The paint on the red plate also wasn't great as it scrapes off fairly easy, blue lasted longer and I've not used the black plates. If they had a better/detachable cable that could be replaced, I'd be fine with them still.
Ya they need tons of power, cant just plug into aphone or cheap dongle dac, won't sound like much. I use mine for clean DSD files as any lack of fidelity in the file will just be unlistenable on those things, so accurate and clear. Mine kept getting better for about three months after I got them.
