Neither , I use baits from a local company called ccn baits and there a small new company that I ordered yellow dumbbell wafters from that came as yellow wafter pop ups and they work excellent. So a little yellow dumbbell pop up .

I'm just curious, is there any advantages of this rig over the IQ D rig? I have used the IQ D for 2 years with wafters and have had success on pretty much every venue I fish. Another great tutorial guys, clean and informative.
You know when you’ve been mugged off as the ring swivel and hook bait will be blown right back to the eye of the hook, sometimes the shrink tube/kicker will come off a bit as well. Also imo more movement for the hook bait than an iq2 d rig and the hook link is obviously not as stiff. Different hooklink materials for different bottoms and situations
No worries pal. The main thing to think about is the bottom ur fishing on, gravel, weed, silt, clay etc. And choose the appropriate rig for that bottom and ur chosen hookbait (wafter, pop up or bottom bait)
No need for the lead shot when fishing wafters they're not buoyant enoguh to lift the hook so, they can be fished on a normal hair rig that you would use for a boilie tho
Never bothered with the slip d rig before but after watching this im certainly going to try it.. i need to ask though, did you intentionally leave a few cm of uncoated braid or was that meant to be uncoated.. i only strip braid before the hook if im popped up? If it was done on purpose then ill follow that method too..love yr vids mate...must admit i miss carl and alex but at least we still have you to watch..top man.
I left a few cm uncoated as I was using a wafter on this rig and I find it wafts around nicely when the rig is more flexible at the end. I don't reckon it makes much difference at all, but I like the idea that it wafts up into the fish's mouth really easily from any direction. :)
Isnt this also known as a blowback? An experienced fisherman once taught me a way of doing this with a knotless in replacement of the ring swivel, it was simple but i bloody forgot it!😂
A blowback I believe usually is made up of a supple and stiff piece of line so then stiff part helps grab hold on a take and the suppleness helps with the rest of the section

the hookholds ive had with this rig in the past is amazing, one of the best rigs out there

Hookhold is better, tends to be in the bottom lip more often than stiff rigs of similar length
