    Even though I have my personal preferences when it comes to rigs, I find your rig videos very interesting. Keep them coming!
    PS: One suggestion if I may: there is an easier and much faster way to tie the "figure of 8 knot". Instead of going around with your "end loop", twist the other one 180 degrees.

      Thanks Marcin, yep thats a good way at tying a figure of eight - I've just always done it this way and now thats what comes natural to me. Glad you're enjoying the videos!

      You could use this rig - but a supple braid rig is preferred. Here's a link to a video showing you how: th-cam.com/video/1yyQuvuYFZ8/w-d-xo.html

    I have used German rig , I don't take any coating off , fish it Ian mcmillan style

  • @funthingsartillery3563
    @funthingsartillery3563 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The coated braid is a bit stiff and limits the hook movement into the fish mouth, i belive it would be a great ideea to remove the coating to the point that it meets the tungsten sincker so the hook can move more freely.
    I created this rig today, same 25 lb coated braid and noticed how stiff that was and made me change my mind about keeping that coat next to the hook

    What size wafters are you useing John

    • @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV

      These are Pastel Barrel Wafters which are roughly 14mm by 12mm - this rig will also work as well with out 15mm Balanced Wafters or Cork Dust Wafters.

    Do you have any preference on when you should be using a wafter over a pop up? Been using pop ups and not had much success so far

    • @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV
      @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Daniel, great question! I use both, although my preference or what I find myself fishing most is various types of wafters. Because in most cases I'll be trying to locate clean areas on the lakebed to fish such as gravel, clay or firm silt - in this situation the carp are investigating the hookbait as they would be feeding on the other freebies, so a wafter provides a good match and being a light, balanced hookbait will react really quickly too. Where this is not possible where weed or other lakebed debris is present or I want my hookbait to sit above thick silt that could effect the taste/flavour of the hookbait I'll use a pop-up - to ensure the hookbait is clear of anything that could prohibit the functioning of the rig. I'll also use pop-ups when casting a showing fish or in the spring when the carp are most curious and times when i want the hookbait to grab the attention of the fish.

    • @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV

      Both very similar and very simple to tie, the main difference would be the KD Rig having a Hair so there can be more separation between the hookbait and hook, where as the German Rig gives more of a blowback effect with the bait screw or micro swivel running on the hook.

    Very good rig, only question I have is, how can it be effective if the hook is laying down flat? surely that just allows the carp to play around with the bait without getting hooked. I’ve just starting fishing myself so who knows it could be a ridiculous question 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @DavidThomas-ro7et
      @DavidThomas-ro7et 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason you use that little kicker is so that when a fish picks up your bait it will reset the hook to an aggressive hold, sure it might be laying flat and not hookable on the ground but as soon as that bait is lifted the hook will set nice
