To find out more about the Single Plane Swing, I have created a "Single Plane Pocket coach" that you can take to the range, or course, and learn the fundamentals of the swing. Find out more about the Pocket Coach here: gravesgolf.com/yt/get-guide
Thanks, Todd and Tim, you’ve been my mainstay with your videos and Moe interpretations. I discovered Moe and Natural Golf in 1994. Within 6 months of learning the Moe Norman golf swing, my 30 year old 20 handicap dropped to a 12, earning an invitation to teach Moe’s swing. Two years later and for the next 20 years I played to a 6 handicap. My game and my swing has gone stale over the last ten years, but since you’re publishing your instruction on TH-cam I’ve been able to refresh my Moe move. Thanks for keeping Moe’s Legacy alive. Last month, I started my 80th year on the planet, and I thank the Lord that I can still “hit a round ball on the ground with a stick”. I thank Moe Norman for my ability to hit the round ball where I want it to go.
Appreciate the video as it is to the point and not some of these other videos I see from other channels that are so long winded... like just get to the point!
I had a hell of a time learning this. I finally got it and im hitting the ball farther and straighter than i have ever before. Moe Norman was a genius and so is Todd Graves. Love love all of hour awesome videos.
Not raising that right arm and folding it, is the missing piece for me since starting the SPS a few years ago. The sequence of torso - arms - stabilisation - torso then arms for release in smooth sequence, has finally got me there. Great video Todd!
This is exactly what I needed. The backswing is the one part of the swing I sometime get wrong. When I get the backswing correct, everything else flows correctly, and I hit the ball solidly.
I’m 62 and started just some years ago so it’s of course impossible become a ”good” player with this body. Always had badly working hips so Moe’s way is easier for me to handle. Have learned much from your and Tom S:S videos. Thank you Todd for sharing your experience👍🏻💚
This is what I'm currently working on - think I was an arm lifter before. Thanks Todd - Recently purchased your Single Plane Swing Book on Amazon. Cheers!
I keep hitting my mid and upper irons to the right (right handed), and I think it is because I have been turning too much. I think since I put the club behind the ball more I feel like I have to turn more. This has been a great video for me.
I've tried this set up and swing drivers and woods/hybrids -- and it absolutely works. I have one question when it comes to irons: When you apply the same upright wrist angle to an iron, is the heel of the iron supposed to be off the ground slightly and the toe down? I tried this a few times, and the ball certainly goes further and with a slight draw, but the strike feels a bit "toe-y".
@@ToddGravesGolf Todd, I have a question if you don't mind? When you say it goes INWARD, why wouldn't it go straight back and then the arm fold up? Would that take it off >>Shaft plane? too steep? Thanks!
Just had my most consistent driving range session ever. It really clicked. I occasionally am still having a little fade on my drives... I think I am having trouble keeping my back foot down on my drives and my hips fully clearing is causing me to not be square.
Thanks for the video!! I don't have the time I would like to work on my game, but I think this is one of the keys for me. When I'm striking it pure, it "feels" like my right triceps and lat stay connected on the backswing, then whole sequence of lower body, hips etc just follows effortlessly. Does that sound right?
Todd, ive tried this twice and range and tonight on the course for first time. Its easy and my contact is more consistent. Had +5 over par, im a 7.2 hcap. One question i cant figure out is how far do you stand from the ball.. is this slightly further away than Bryson Dechambeau' setup ?
Awesome; likely 100% a main issue; likely why I stand up out of posture and can’t get back into proper transition!!! Of course total opposite of traditional training and / or watching most tour players “wind up”.
Is there a slight pause at top of backswing before firing hips? Does not seem like you are but I was doing it yesterday and it helps sequencing everything for me.
Not fair that all the new golfers get the benefits of all these awesome videos; they should have a twenty year waiting period like us original students at the foot of the master!! 😅
Hi Todd. In relation to Moe’s backswing I just think Moe threw the club head back . That way the club head is on its natural ORBIT. Ben Hogan did the same. Literally throw the club up on its natural orbit. The only problem with talking about positions is that it is easy then to not naturally create the orbit. There is not doubt from old Moe’s swing footage he is simply throwing the club head up. Even on chipping and pitching he throws the club into an orbit which in simple physics is the most powerful natural way to create speed and more importantly CONSISTENCY.
The address or set up position is the most important position yet you do not call this position #1; instead it is position "zero" which to me, causes confusion, especially if the viewer is new to this.

People come up to me trying to fix/change my swing since I started using the SPS... that's how I know it's working 😂. Thank you!
Every fucking dammmn time at the range and it drives me crazy man!!
@@lucienpaulpaquette1603 yea I always have to tell them I'm doing a different swing
Brilliant. I finally understand the correct sequence of the backswing. So good. Thank you!!!
Just had a hit, was all over the place but this content is Gold. Looking forward to next game. Ha
That is a very significant concept. Single motion, then arms and hands. Most of what I've always done was feel and guessing.

One of my struggles to, a natural reliable backsving which works every time. But it’s getting better😃

Awesome description...love the detail!!!
Great stuff as always. Love the small breakdown nuggets 🤙🏽

Great info Todd
Great video. My swing thought is that the only thing that bends is my trail elbow.
Excellent from you as ever. Thanks again for all your help.
Thanks!
Great instruction! I thought you might mention Moe's takeaway drill in which he wore hole in mom's carpet reac8ng for quarter on the floor.?

Love it! What do you think about MO’s fellow Canadian George Knudson’s swing?
Another outstanding presentation!!
Thank you.

I need to get one I'll have go too my local academy and see if they have one
My bad shots I feel that I don't get much turn, mostly arm swing, but my good shots feel like the way you are describing.
Really succinct ❤

The flight on the ball you hit literally looked like Moe. 🎉

Not a slight pause but there is a change of directions happening in the lower body first - before the backswing of the arms is complete.

Been changing my swing for 11 mos. I hit some of the best shots I’ve ever hit. But I still hit shots I never hit - top shots, primarily. Frustrating.
I just CANNOT bend/fold my trail arm whilst keeping my lead arm straight
The second i bend/fold my trail arm, my lead arm collapses aswell 😭😭
When my back swing is on I smash the ball perfect every time
The address or set up position is the most important position yet you do not call this position #1; instead it is position "zero" which to me, causes confusion, especially if the viewer is new to this.
Thus..the problem with TH-cam as a source for instruction. Always out of context.
Address is not a moving position= position 0.
To add to Moe's lexicon, "Hitting your (correct) positions is the Father of good results and their repetition is the Mother of good performance."
