This is the bow I went with I put a Norris springy rest on it and I put WNS motive c5 limbs in medium that made it 64 and made it much smoother as far as noise I put cats whiskers on and did a worlds of difference all in all I’m happy with it and would recommend it as a starter trad bow.
So I have one of these risers. I also have, or have had, some 800-1000.09 risers from Gillo, CD archery, and WIn Win. I shoot this little riser as well or better than the others. I have some cheap Nika Cornerstone C1 limbs on it. To me… the grip is about 80% of the bow. assuming the bow isn’t complete garbage. The grip that comes on the bow is, in fact, crappy. Well, it’s crappy for me anyway. I took that off and put on my favorite Jager grip and now it shoots like a dream. For a couple hundred bucks, if you do your part… it will more than do its part.
I was like whaaat a hunting riser with a flat shelf....then out pops the plastic bit. I would be interested to see if the plastic bit fits other risers. It would be useful.
Steven, can you please, please, please recommend a takedown recurve for hunting use with an aluminum riser that's under $500 AND has the screw holes for a rest AND a quiver? I'm in the US and every online source I've found is just a front for shilling bottom of the barrel bows. I was very interested in the Black Elk until I saw it has no way for me to mount my quiver. I couldn't even find an alternative quiver that would work with this bow.
Check out the following: * T-bow * Samick Discovery * Junxing F166 * Oak Ridge Byron * Junxing F161 * Pharos II They’re all brilliant bows and fit your requirements. Alternatively, you could have a local machine shop drill and add stainless quiver threads to a Win & Win riser.
I’m looking at a Pharos 2 in either 17 inch or 19 inch risers. It comes with medium limbs so it’s 60 inch on the 17 and 62 on the 19. Which would you choose and why?
That sounds really noisy tbh. That plastic shelf is amplifying the arrows contact noise right through the riser. +1 for shorter riser & longer limbs for a pleasant shooting trad bow. Have you tried Bosen bows longbow limbs on a short riser? It's really nice with a couple of string puffs.
A nice bow, but don't be fooled by it supposedly being 62" and taking a 58/59" string (actual)- you will only achieve a 8 5" brace height. Recommended brace height for this bow is between 7.5 and 8.5". You will need a 60" string (actual) to achieve this brace range. Bit poor that this isn't mentioned...
If you had to give me a general opinion of this bow and a rating, what would it be? I can't understand the video since I don't speak English but I can write a little. I think I'll get this one so I'd like to know if it's worth it.
I have read that a cast riser has a limitation of around 40# because of a danger of cracking the riser. Does it apply to this riser which has a upper range of 65#?
@@desertrainfrog1691 In the Lancaster Archery 2021-2022 catalog, there is a caution about the WNS Explore cast aluminum riser to not set up the bow over 40# as it may damage the riser.
It’s totally fine with 65# limbs as it’s designed to handle the m higher poundage limbs without any adverse affect to the structural integrity. The riser you read about would have been a beginner target riser which isn’t designed to cope with the higher poundage limbs.

How many lbs were you pulling with c5 limbs?
Definitely the arrow smacking the shelf. So good tune will help a lot.
Definitely needs shelf material, that uncovered shelf is making a lot of noise.
Damn, that's only £260 in the UK. Nice looking and shooting bow for that price.
A$440 = 233 pounds at current exchange rate, so not that different.
I just ordered for that price in UK. Looking forward to it arriving now

Please, make a video on the Junxing 167!

another one is the topoint sliver which is very similar to the pharos 2
They could've made the riser shorter and the limbs longer. It would've been much smoother. 17" or 19" riser is more suitable for hunting setup.
if you want a shorter riser go with the Win and win Black Wolf

Bugger it, I’m going to say first as apparently it’s cool to do this 😬

Great video! How is the balance? Another reviewer felt it was top-heavy.
What is the expected string length for this bow? What is the brace height range?

I would also like to know what string is ideal to use (the size).. **** (This will be my first bow).

I believe that stipulation only applies to cast magnesium risers. (This is aluminum)

@@jasonrichardwatts Thank you, the riser is a beginner’s model.
Hola hay posibilidad de envio a costa rica
Does anyone know if this bow can take a fast flight string?
Most modern ilf limbs should be able to handle them. Check if they have phenolic tips
