I really think Ronald Reagan belongs on the top 5 list for his handling and victory over the Cold War. He was also highly successful in developing a strong economy creating 20 million new jobs. These were 2 major challenges that he inherited when first elected.
Reagan was all time great out of his hawkish foreign policy that triggered the demise of the soviet machine gradually while fostering peace with the USSR. He brought unparalleled growth and made America believe in itself. And he was the most charismatic president arguably ever. Dude was one of a kind
Maybe because I served 20 years in the US Navy, eight of those under Reagan, therefore he should have been in the top five. When Carter was president the morale was at the lowest point. Reagan not only brought down the Soviet Union and created a strong economy, but he helped to raise the spirits of the American people especially those serving in the armed forces!!!

I agree with you. Also he was a big fan of Stalin which was the reason why the Soviet Union was able to take over Eastern Europe. Plus if you pay attention to the New deal is the parallel equivalent of what Adolf Hitler was doing in Germany. To improve the economy of Germany during the Nazis time. If it wasn't for Congress and how our constitution was set up Roosevelt would have wanted to do the same thing that Hitler was doing all the way down to a t when it came to the economy. Also remember he sent a boatload of Jewish people back to Europe to get killed

@@seanohare5488 Good point, but Lincoln couldn't have done either without the war he didn't want to begin with. He had no desire to make war on the Confederacy and neither did the majority of Americans in the North but when the Confederates fired on Fort Sumter it changed everything. Fort Sumter had the same effect on Americans as Pearl Harbor would 80 years later and 9/11 would 60 years after that.
@theeJordanTaylor well, what about Wilson's record on Civil Rights? On the surface, he comes off as a Progressive, college professor from New Jersey. But, in the area of civil rights, he's a Dixiecrat from Virginia.
They are really good books. I have to intentionally pace myself because I don't want to finish them so fast. I almost read The Killers in 1 sitting lol. Keep writing

0 Reilly downolays Kennedy he had leadership ability in his impact in the world his charisma was undeniable his poll numbers was at 60 percent when he was assinated tried to end the hot cold war an eloquent witty speaker and his coolness in Cuban missile crisis is undeniable too i put him over Polk
Polk was underappreciated probably why O Reilly included him, but how can you keep Jefferson (Louisiana Purchase) and Reagan (Ended Cold War / Longest Economic Expansion) off the list?
I would have preferred Jefferson or Reagan to be in his top 5 instead of Polk, I like both of them. I don’t even think that Polk is under-appreciated, he goaded Mexico into a war so that he could launch an invasion and take territory that would lead to the expansion of slavery and the Civil War. I say this as someone who loves and lives in a state that was Mexican territory prior to the Mexican-American War.
True. Aside from Jefferson's personal slaves (who he freed) all the Montecello slaves were part of the plantations assets. Jefferson's creditors let him live on the property until he died out of respect but as soon as he was gone they were taking the whole place, slaves and all. Washington wanted to end his reliance on slaves, he'd been developing moral qualms about the instituion for years and the performance of Black soldiers in the Revolution made those qualms even worse. The only way out of it was to free his slaves on his death when he wouldn't need them anymore. (Obviously.) Not a perfect solution but it was the only one he could come up with. Also as part of his will he broke up the Mount Vernon estate leaving parcels to various relatives so they wouldn't need all those slaves either. I forgot to add earlier Washington stipulated in his will that the slaves were to be educated in the basic "Three R's" ('readin' , 'ritin', 'rithmatic) as well so they could function in the world as free men and women and not be at a disadvantage.
@@detroitblack258 Any auctions at Montecello after Jefferson's death would have been his creditors selling off the siezed assets and that certainly would have included slaves along with household goods, parcels of property and livestock. And still true today! Presidents today look at the office as their own personal kingdom, and the taxpayers are the peasants.

The Soviet Union destroyed itself. Doesn’t matter about “tear down this wall.” Reagan did nothing more than that

OK, John Tyler was tired because he had 16 kids. Good grief, Mrs. Tyler must've been utterly exhausted.
Both Mrs. Tylers were exhausted, the 1st wife, Letitia died after a year and a half as first lady.
