I really think Ronald Reagan belongs on the top 5 list for his handling and victory over the Cold War. He was also highly successful in developing a strong economy creating 20 million new jobs. These were 2 major challenges that he inherited when first elected.

Reagan was all time great out of his hawkish foreign policy that triggered the demise of the soviet machine gradually while fostering peace with the USSR. He brought unparalleled growth and made America believe in itself. And he was the most charismatic president arguably ever. Dude was one of a kind

Maybe because I served 20 years in the US Navy, eight of those under Reagan, therefore he should have been in the top five. When Carter was president the morale was at the lowest point. Reagan not only brought down the Soviet Union and created a strong economy, but he helped to raise the spirits of the American people especially those serving in the armed forces!!!

I agree with you. Also he was a big fan of Stalin which was the reason why the Soviet Union was able to take over Eastern Europe. Plus if you pay attention to the New deal is the parallel equivalent of what Adolf Hitler was doing in Germany. To improve the economy of Germany during the Nazis time. If it wasn't for Congress and how our constitution was set up Roosevelt would have wanted to do the same thing that Hitler was doing all the way down to a t when it came to the economy. Also remember he sent a boatload of Jewish people back to Europe to get killed

    • @wayneantoniazzi2706
      @wayneantoniazzi2706 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

True. Aside from Jefferson's personal slaves (who he freed) all the Montecello slaves were part of the plantations assets. Jefferson's creditors let him live on the property until he died out of respect but as soon as he was gone they were taking the whole place, slaves and all.
Washington wanted to end his reliance on slaves, he'd been developing moral qualms about the instituion for years and the performance of Black soldiers in the Revolution made those qualms even worse. The only way out of it was to free his slaves on his death when he wouldn't need them anymore. (Obviously.) Not a perfect solution but it was the only one he could come up with. Also as part of his will he broke up the Mount Vernon estate leaving parcels to various relatives so they wouldn't need all those slaves either.
I forgot to add earlier Washington stipulated in his will that the slaves were to be educated in the basic "Three R's" ('readin' , 'ritin', 'rithmatic) as well so they could function in the world as free men and women and not be at a disadvantage.

@@detroitblack258 Any auctions at Montecello after Jefferson's death would have been his creditors selling off the siezed assets and that certainly would have included slaves along with household goods, parcels of property and livestock. However as I mentioned earlier Jefferson DID have his personal slaves not part of the Montecello estate (Sally Hemmings and her family, males and females) and they were freed by Jefferson. But that was a far as he could go.

Lincoln had the equivalent of 2nd grade education he educated himself. He also battled depression. Amazing that he was chosen number one by O' Reilly

How is that amazing? Lincoln by far achieved more than any other president and paid for it with his life.

Would like to have heard more on his thoughts on Reagan. I don’t agree completely on the top 5 and think RR was in there. I know Bill has great knowledge but question judgement a touch

Excellent. So informative. Big shoes for someone to fill. Putting the people above self interest.
Longing to find a leader who inspires. Somehow I wonder if that person would be recognised. So sad.

Reading Confronting the Presidents now… creating my own list of best and worst. Really enjoyed this interview! Polk made it into my Top 15

worst ever: obama(utter nonsense used car salesmen at best worst ever), biden, pierce, clinton, tyler, kennedy(slimeball perpetuated the veitnam war when he could have stopped it, hes also the most overrated prez ever), lyndon johnson.
best ever :Nixon(best speaker, extremely smart, likeable), Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson(the most genius of all prez), Polk. John Quincy Adams.
most underrated ever: Nixon and polk. polk is actually what a president should be like, an ordinary guy that works hard and does his job well and creates growth.

Kennedy did try to stop, but guess what? He got killed. What more do you guys want from Kennedy? It wasn't his fault the dems wanted him out.

JFK withdrew the Vietnam War not at first, but he started to know it was pointless, but guess what he got killed before he could pull out the Vietnam War.

I loved Bill's killing books because they are very factual, but also easy to read. And, told it like it was. Good and bad. Confronting the Presidents would be a great educational book for high school.
