I was able to fix my friends display with this help, I even had more problems along the way cuz i got display and that frame together and had to first unglue them off and then connect everything, but without this video i wouldnt be able to fix this, now i was able, THANKS VERY MUCH

I have to say Sony have taken "planned obsolesence" a step further with this model though, I hadn't expected to completely disassemble it in order to replace the screen. A big change from repairing my previous Z1, which was a cakewalk in comparison. Damn Sony, they make some great phones, but the touch displays are SO FRAGILE.
Thnx for this tutorial, got some water damage on the screen and it didn't want to turn off, plus it was ghost touching itself then it got dark, so my guess the screen got shorted, it looked like the damage was there, all the other components looked fine in comparison XD well now i know how to disconnect the battery if this ever happends again.

I had some problems connecting the wire back to both the top and bottom pieces ( the wire you disconnect in step 2 of the video, taking out the battery), it's easier to attach the wire connectors before you screen in the motherboard and bottom pieces. Also, the screws are so easy to lose, get a container. Ps, I didn't need a hair drier so yeah, awesome!

I have send my cell phone to check to a place where they suppose to repair it because some water get inside, this cell phone never has been opened, but the problem is that they give me with a battery smaller and without the name of sony in the front (do you think they change the original?) Hi, Wit Rigs, I managed to change the screen, but the phone doesn't catch network, neither the speaker works! The GSM antenna, I think it's the one below, there is a circuit board that connects them, but charging is OK and so is vibration! What could it be? thanks!
My device is Xperia XA. Some days ago unfortunately some rain water intered into the screen. After switching off and first aid processes like drying for some hour with hair dryer i switched on the phone. All are ok but the touch and screen has been damaged. There are some vertical line in the screen and touch problem. Is there any solution to fix the screen without changing or replace the display ?
Thanks. But if you wanna change only the glass, I should remind you that it's not an easy work, people can ruin the digitizer when replace the glass. My suggestion is repair the whole screen with digtizer
Hi @ 2:56, the wired connector on mine broke from the motherboard, both male-female parts connected to the wire. Can this be res-oldered by a tech ? or will I have to replace the mother board. kind regards, Ty
Did you change the screen because of ghost touch? or is there any reason for replacement? like drop or hit. If it used to drop before, the problem maybe on the motherboard, in that case you should better take it to the repair store and ask for help

If you do wanna apply some glue on double sides, I suggest you use solid glue, the adhesive kind. But I personally think there's no need to add any glue on both two sides, cause there are several screws to lock the side, no worry about loose.
oh Sorry I misread your comment. So you mean the screen supporting frame adhesive and back cover adhesive? Solid adhesive is still the premium choice. I followed. Now phone has no sound from speakers, and cant make calls. Do you have to stick antenna sticker back on motherboard before closing back cover? Also, socket for flex cable on motherboard detached from MB, is this why no sound?
I'm sorry, by mention the antenna sticker, which part did you mean? Does the ear speaker and loudspeaker works? If it's just the ear speaker no sound, check whether the metal contactor on earpiece was aimed on the motherboard or not.
1. I mean the big square copper at 1:32. 2. The little socket on motherboard at 2:57 came off togther with cable. 3. Alarm clock has sound, but no sound when play youtube, ok when use ear piece 4. When make call, phone shows calling, but no sound in ear speaker and other party dnt receive call.
1. the big square copper is NFC copper cover. 2. the little socket is signal antenna cable, if it came off with the cable, that mean it's crack. 3. I think you should make sure whether the loudspeaker damage or not. I mean the button speaker

I was fixing my phone and the power cable which connects the USB module to the motherboard came away with the connection points; is there any way of reattaching them?
Wit Rigs When I was trying to disconnect the power flex cable, running from charging/USB module to the mobo, it pulled the 'ports' off both, meaning that I can no longer reattach the flex cable to either board. It happened so easily too. (P.S. Thanks for the swift reply)
I see, if the flex was break, you can only replace a new flex to fix it. Hi anyone can help me? My xa ultra screen had vertical white line. If i off then on the lcd screen is ok but few sec later the vertical white line appeared what you could recommend for it?
No nor is it 'water resistant'. Don't submerge it or you'll get water in the earphone jack/speaker. Sits there for a while but I've dropped mine in the bath a few times no issue. As soon as you've cracked it though, don't let it near the bath. It's also not a very crack resistant screen on the edges, less so than most other phones I've had. And when it does fracture, it quickly gets worse. But if you keep it in a leather case etc. then it's an awesome little phone for 150 AUD I paid for it.

Do you mean the antenna cable connector on motherboard broke? Try find a nearest repair store and see whether they could soldering it back.

Check the flex ribbon, inspect it, is there any rupture? Check the pins to ensure they are straight and aligned and that none are missing.

Yes, but it''s temporary, after a while it goes back to unresponsive touch.

Try changing your adaptive brightness seetings under your display settings
it could be alot more simple because there was no need to unscrew the frame and lower portion like ringer
