  • The FNX 45 is a double stack semi auto handgun in 45 ACP which offers solid performance in a large package. The gun shoots great but it is definitely big.

    The trigger reset is not going to be long when you are actually shooting rounds. What you are doing in this video is resetting all the way back to double action. However, when you are actually shooting, it is going to reset to single action which, is a short reset.

    I have one in all black as a companion to my FN SCAR 17 in all black. Such a beast. Zero malfunctions. 15 rounds of .45. Stainless steel slide with corrosion resistant finish and polymer frame makes it a superb all weather weapon. Rain, snow, salt, no problem. Got a Sig 320 pistol kydex that fits the FNX pretty well. Not my EDC as I would carry 1911 Commander .45, Springfield SA35 (Browning HP clone), or my HK VP9 carry better. But it's my outdoor hiking, camping, and zombie apocalypse pistol.

    I've had mine for about two years or so. I've ran about 200 hundred rounds through it and I absolutely love it! Only time I had a failure was when I was shooting under powered ammo. One more thought, I bought some "Hornady 230 grain +P", expensive ammo! But damn is it fucking awesome!

      I’m at about 3k rounds through mine at this point and still haven’t had a major malfunction that wasn’t related to underpowered ammo.

    I EDC mine in a Black Rhino Concealment IWB w/laser light combo just fine . I have 2 extra mags on my left in a XD.45
    V shaped double stack mag holder works great.

    I've owned mine for four years with several thousand rounds and have yet to have a malfunction. The biggest issue is the size. I CC and had a problem finding a suitable holster. Concealment Express makes a good kydex holster that does real well.

      It’s definitely a big gun. I’ve found that a holsters made for the FNP tend to work well. The safariland holsters don’t let you carry it cocked and locked as the hood gets in the way.

      Garrett Industries in Woodville, Texas makes custom holsters for the FNX 45 and the FNX 45 Tactical. Outstanding holsters and customer service.

      Thanks for the info. Finding good holsters for this gun is tough. I’ve had to modify holster for similar size guns or use FNP holsters.

      TCH Tactical holsters make a very good kydex holster for the FNX. They have FNX Regular and FNX Tactical. Cytac makes a universal holster with Streamlight that fits thr FNX. I bought one and fits my FNx with light, 1911 railed woth light, and HK VP9 with light. Comes with an easy to hit finger release lock.

    I want a heavy 45. It allows better control of the 2nd shot - my Glock 30s is very light and hard to control after the first round. I carried a S&W ss. 45 in combat and it was my favorite until I bought the FNX tactical. This is the best 45 made in my opinion. Excellent review of this firearm !

      Used some Glock 21 mags with Glock pucks to cover the longer mags. It will make a different out of your g30s.

      Thanks! I’ve had that truck for about ten years and love bouncing around the hills in it. I spun a bearing in the engine a while ago and replaced it with a 22r that I got out of a junk yard and it’s still going strong. The gun is the standard FDE. Over time from shooting and handling it’s kind of changed a bit. The color could also have been a bit off from the factory.

    I can’t seem to find them at all only the fnx tactical but I’m not a big fan of it I have the 509 full-size tactical and compact tactical 509 but the FNX in my opinion would be better than the tactical for a range gun since I already have a home defense pistol and a edc

    • @glization1
      @glization1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Finding anything right now can be kind of hit or miss. All the tactical is giving you is the threaded barrel and optics cut slide. I’ve since bought a tactical slide so I can mount a red dot on my pistol, which isn’t cheap but is something you can do after the fact if you decide you want it.

    Waht kind of ammo do i need for this bad boy? I heard some ammunitions are underpowered and jams it. I don't want something too expensive, but not too cheap that it gets stuck in the gun.

    • @glization1
      @glization1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the issues I’ve had were due to hand loads that were in the bottom half of the load chart. In general I’ve had bad experiences with Winchester white box and found some of their other loads to be excessively dirty. I haven’t tried anything like wolf or Tula so I’m not sure how those would do. I have shot a lot of the federal aluminum cased practice ammo through it with no problems, which usually runs a bit cheaper than brass cased stuff. If you’re going to buy brass cased then Speer, federal or another major us manufacturer (except Winchester) will probably work fine. I’m sure some import ammo like PPU will also work I just haven’t tried it.

    • @glization1
      @glization1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are the TFX sights. I don’t have my packaging for them anymore so i’m not sure on the serial number. Below is a Amazon link that has tru glows compatibility chart. The FNP and FNX take the same sights. Based on the compatibility chart the serial you need is TG13FN3A. When I get home tonight I’ll check to see exactly how much gap there is by I believe there is a little.

    • @glization1

    The comparison of the G22 to the FNX45 wasn’t apples to apples at all the G21 is much thicker then the G22 and is much more comparable to the FNX 45

  • @touofthehighplains
    @touofthehighplains 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That has nothing on the Mark 23. 6000 rds fired between malfunctions. Survives a 30000 diet of +p ammo. Hostile environment finish for salt water corrosion resistance.

    • @bobbyricigliano2799
      @bobbyricigliano2799 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A useless comparison. The FNX is 1/3 the price, is a great pistol, and is readily available. How much did 30,000 rounds of +P set you back? Ammo is expensive these days.

    • @MTMILITIAMAN7.62
      @MTMILITIAMAN7.62 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, you know the Mk 23 is better because you used one in Metal Gear Solid...
      FN is makes good stuff. Legacy of John Browning, at one point they made over 2/3 of the small arms for the US military. As Bobby already pointed out, the FNX45 is intended more as a duty gun than an offensive handgun, so it is smaller and cheaper. Plus it has better capacity and ergonomics, and you can usually find one of them, unlike the Mk 23, which is like finding a unicorn, and then costs thousands of dollars.
      I owned an HK USP45 Tactical at one point, and was underwhelmed. It wasn't as reliable or as durable as HK fanboys made it sound, and I ended up selling it at a loss just to make room for the Glock I replaced it with. I wish the FNX45 had been available then, it would have made my decision process easier and possibly saved me some heartache.
