Sig 115gr V Crown
Sig has rapidly expanded into a lot of market lately. One of them is the ammo market. In general I have been happy with Sig products, we'll see if their ammo keeps that going.

Ruger Precision Rimfire Accuracy test (2022)

Match Bullets Vs FMJ
มุมมอง 1042 ปีที่แล้ว
If you're like me you have heard someone ask about using match bullets for hunting or self defense. The standard reply is that the terminal performance of match bullets is the same as FMJs. I don't know if this is true but we'll find out.
IMI 124gr +P (The IMI 9mm you should buy!)
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A review of the 124gr P loading from IMI. This round performed very well comparted to their 115gr offerings and I would definitely recommend getting it instead of the 115gr. The bullets did come apart a bit more than the other 9mm rounds I've tested so if I was just buying a box or two for a carry gun I would still probably get something else. But if you're buying in bulk this is your ticket.
Hornady .45 +P Critical Duty Review
มุมมอง 2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hornady is one of the biggest names in self defense ammo for good reason, their products are reliable and tend to work well. The Critical Duty line of ammo is one of their flagship products and marketed widely to both civilian and law enforcement customers. I forgot to put the foot pounds of energy in the video but it is 535.
Federal .40 cal 180 gr Hydra Shock

The Cold Steel Norse Hawk is a light weight budget friendly option for a Norse inspired tomahawk/light axe. It had some issues out of the box but is overall a pretty good package if you're on a budget or want something that doesn't weigh too much.

มุมมอง 2.7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
The JM Pro 930 is Mossberg's entry into the three gun market with a competition ready shotgun at a very reasonable price. It's not as high quality as something like a Benelli but it fills an important niche in the market.
IMI 9mm Di-cut 115 Grain 9mm Review
มุมมอง 21K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This hollow point ammo made by IMI has several strong points. it comes in a box of 50, is slightly cheaper than other self defense ammo and IMI is a reputable company. The advertised velocity matches very well with the actual performance of the round, but the bullet performance was very underwhelming.

    One round makes a review? These look like the old Winchester Black Talons and sort of not as old Winchester Rangers in which I have a shit ton of Rangers when they started bonding them in 45 ACP and 40 S&W and I have a good amount of Black Talons in 40 S&W and I found out that the Talons failed to open or shed the jacket one out of every 4 or 5 rounds and the Rangers about the same because all Winchester did was shed the black Teflon coating on the Talons and call them Rangers BUT they did make a wide open and "Pretty" bullet when they opened as advertised but then so does the Norma MHP but I don't carry any MHPs in any of my carry guns but at $4 for a box of 20 rounds I bought quite a few for "Just In Case" or as we say in the hills and "Hollers" of rural Ohio JIC I have kicked around the idea of getting an AR "Pistol" in 9mm with 10" to 14" barrel but put it off when the Glock mag or 5.56/223 insert was the options and may have waited to long as I'm not sure the higher cost of today is worth it but it still seems like a good idea to have one for a lot of different reasons but right now I am trying to track down a Beretta A300 Patrol in tiger stripe along with an aftermarket barrel clamp instead of the Magpul polymer barrel clamp. Ahhh the "CHOICES" fill my head and I tend to drag my feet as of late because I was diagnosed with cancer in April 2023 and next week is my 8th and last week of an 8 week radiation and 6 week chemo treatment and even though my chemo treatments ended on Oct. 3rd 2023 I seem to still have some remnants of "Chemo Brain" lingering in my head and I am 30 Lbs lighter than when I started treatment because every type of food tastes like a dog shit popsickle when I put it in my mouth

Stainless steel slide with corrosion resistant finish and polymer frame makes it a superb all weather weapon. Rain, snow, salt, no problem. Got a Sig 320 pistol kydex that fits the FNX pretty well. I just bought one last week. I have other more expensive guns such as Bergara B14r, CZ 455, Tikka T1x and some others. The scope is a Burris in 4.5-14x42. It is a tack driver at 50 yards with anything CCI. I shot the cheapest first, the CCI Blazer, then CCI Standard Velocity, and lastly CCI Standard Velocity Target. They all grouped extremely well at 50. CCI out of this rifle was competing with my Bergara B14r and the CZ455. I hate to admit it, but the Ruger RPR was outshooting my Tikka T1X with all brands of ammo that I was testing that day. In addition to the CCI's it included Lapua Center X, SK Biathlon, SK Pistol Match, Aguila Super Extra, Remington Golden Bullet, American Eagle (red box Federal), and Federal Game Shock. It was hanging in there against the Bergara and the CZ. Not lying.

    Hornady has a chart that shows the effective velocity for the various XTPs: I guarantee that 1100 fps as tested will be in the range. Penetration can be, in some cases, more desirable than velocity or expansion. 400+ ft/lbs is nothing to sneer at from a SD standpoint, either. Cheers! P.S. I can load these to 1250+ fps with Longshot per Hodgdons load data.

  • @alexandermfernandez9283
    @alexandermfernandez9283 ปีที่แล้ว

    Been viewing your videos and they're really helpful . I like what I see with these Barnes rounds , the expansion seems more than what you'd expect from just about all the hollow points out there . And the penetration was definitely sufficient . • @alexandermfernandez9283
    @alexandermfernandez9283 ปีที่แล้ว

    XTPs' are notoriously deep penetrators with poor expansion unless the velocity is adequate . I suspect that the velocity printed on the box is probably the speed that round needs to perform as expected . It seems that ammo manufacturers don't consider testing these rounds through std. length barrels . I can't think of any handgun in .40S&W , except for maybe the S&W M&P , that comes with a longer than 4" barrel . Anyhow, great video , it really helps us out here to see someone test this ammunition . This way we know what to expect . Thank you very much !

  • @alexandermfernandez9283
    @alexandermfernandez9283 ปีที่แล้ว

    First of all , thanks for evaluating this ammo . I was considering buying this same ammunition 'cause I like the 165gr loads for the .40S&W . I don't know what happened here . I think you're right that it was the denim that clogged the hollow point and prevented it from expanding . Otherwise , the only thing I can imagine is that maybe the jacket is too thick , or there's not enough velocity .Either way , like you , this round is not on my list anymore . Thanks for the video !

    These were made to feed reliably not expand. I stopped a black bear with one shot so I'd say they are more than enough for self defense. I'd say even a fmj is more than enough for self defense but of course there's a reason they make hp.

    This is what I load in my MP5 clone for the "Zombie Apocalypse". Its not an HST, but for what it does and for the price its a great option. Out of an 8.7" barrel, it performs very well and after 420 rounds Ive had only one FTE/FTL(double feed) and that happened on the 47th round(2nd mag of 14 tried) and never again. Check out Winchesters 147g "budget" or white box hollowpoint ammunition. You can find boxes of 50 anywhere from 18-25 bucks and are by FAR the best budget style cartridge in 9mm. Has consistent and reliable results from 4"+ barrels. Both my Evo & my colt 16" absolutely love this ammunition as well and is very accurate within 100 yards, "haven't had a chance to test any further". I've taken a few large feral hogs within 50 yards and lots and lots of coyotes and even dropped one right at 90 yards with the ammunition. When taking a look at the terminal ballistics on the carcasses I was shocked with how well it did when dealing with bone. The bullets I could find weren't nearly as pretty as HSTs or gold dots but for the price I've yet to find anything that comes close in comparison. These cartridges also are way cleaner burning when compared to other Winchester loadings giving a low flash point and cleaner firearm.
