As I mentioned before, I'm a third generation trucker. I drove for 40 years but retired early at 58 because of an injury. That said, I grew up on farms. I started driving tractors and moving irrigation pipe when I was about 12 years old and I absolutely loved it.
I’m a trucker, this is what I wanted, but we all know this industry is nothing like it once was and I don’t like living in this space that’s smaller than a jail cell.I grew up on a farm,a few farms to be exact,I truly miss that peace & quiet. You’ve made a good choice.
I went on harvest from Texas to Montana back in 1977 and loved every minute of it. Learned a lot about just about everything especially mechanics and equipment operations. Operated a 760 Massey Furgeson then a 1480 International Harvester combines.
I retired this spring from trucking in a 99 t800. OWNER OPERATOR for 20years . I really enjoy your site . Brings back allot of mermories spent a bunch of time in Iowa. I also going to work for a sugarbeet farmer in Idaho.
I’m a Texas city girl and never have been around farms. So I think your new videos will be very interesting to watch. Getting to see how farming works will be educational. Praying 🙏🏼 your back heals. I have severe back issues. I can sympathize with you. God bless.
Kurt, most of us that watch your channel don't do it for the truck. It is now a family thing. The truck usually goes the same route and same stuff. It is cool to watch but you do a very good job at running the channel and being you. Plus, it is fun to watch Warden kick your
Being from the East Coast (right next to the ocean actually) I am fascinated by the landscape where you live. So flat, so treeless, so huge. Towns are set up differently, such wide streets, and houses are so far apart. I'm curious how the land shapes your outlook. One thing I can readily identify with are your great big skies. Having come from the Netherlands the ocean and big skies have always been important to me, and the skies out there are magnificent. I now live about 40 urban, hilly miles from the ocean and I miss it.
Can’t wait for this series…..farming has changed so much with technology…so many have a very limited and antiquated view on farming and what’s involved in the industry. Bonus this part of Iowa is so beautiful…exciting content. Working with critters would be a bonus
No doubt you will do fine in your farming experience as with any other endeavor you undertake. So now it’s trucking, family, and farming channel. Looking forward to what lies ahead. Blessings🙏
I have to tell you Kurt, I watch you truck to relax my mind every night from the stress of farming. I’ve really enjoyed riding along with you and seeing places I used to go in when I trucked. Nothing wrong with a break. I will continue to watch just to see how you do farming and to keep up with your family.
If your in first class or on the farm 🚜 I'm posted watching my brother and im looking forward to seeing what's coming next . Have a nice day GOD BLESS you and your family sir 🙏🏾
Best of Luck my TH-cam friend. We'll definitely keep watching. I grew up on a farm, as a farm hand. Can't wait for farm videos, and cows, tractors, grain haha. 👌
Cleaning maintenance safety go hand in hand it's good to have the same person doing the maintenance work. There's so much pressure keeping things moving during harvest time. Have a most wonderful day
I have two genres I watch predominantly on youtube. Trucking and Farming. This is perfect! Also, getting out and do some physical labour might do your back wonders. As long as you dont overdo it. Very much looking forward to Farmtrucking with Schmidt! 😁
as always your keep taking us on your journey so long as we see that star of the whole shoe every now and than it will be as good as going down the road with you in First Class. Thanks again kurt for showing us what it takes to be a good person and make a dollar when you need too do what ever you need to do to keep the family happy.
Kirk, you know when you have a good boss who isn't up your butt that makes life easy to deal with. Your work ethic speaks for itself. Enjoy and pace ur self.
Good for you. I hope this doesn’t hurt your back any more than it currently. When I help on the farm I always find the muscles I have not used in a while. Have fun
There is allot to move when it comes to harvest... I was a city kid in a farm town, so good chunk of my class grew up/working on farms.. They said there is allot to drive around and haul... I think you will find from what I hear it shares getting load from point A to point B only A is a field and B may be a silo then back to point A for another load... I hope you do enjoy the new job...
BEST WISHES Kurt on your new adventure in the Farm sector. What a change of lifestyle for you home every day and not a worry about how much fuel will be tomorrow. My best wishes from Sydney Australia
I parked my truck almost 2 years ago now it doesn’t cost me anything to let it sit there. It’s been paid for for years. I’m in a slope, nose freightliner with an automatic. I have to admit I kinda like their automatic transformation it’s definitely no kitty cat with an 18 speed
Good luck with the new part time job Kurt. Don’t worry too much about trucking, I personally watch them for you and your family life experiences. Keep up the great vlogs, I’ll be watching whatever 👍🇬🇧
Kurt, wife and I watch your videos and love them, your lay back and honest about what you put on. We are Oklahoma Schmidts thumbs up and keep the videos coming can't wait to see some of the jackrabbits game footage saw there 1st game sorry about the out come but they are a solid team for sure
Hey there Kirt, doing the harvest on a farm is exciting as well, I was raised on a farm in the 60's-70's, then came the trucking. The new way to farm is a lot more exciting.
I am looking forward to the "farming videos. When I was a kid, I would spend a week in the summer with my grandparents on the farm. Those were some of the best memories I have of my childhood.
Looks like this change will be helpful for your back, getting your body moving in different ways. To get some ideas for harvesting videos I suggest Zeorian Harvesting videos of wheat harvest in Montana.
Kurt, good luck with the new adventure, I've been thinking for a while now you need to get you a camera/phone mount that you can setup just behind your shoulder in the trucks and maybe a chest/head cam so it free's up your hands I'm sorry I just stress about all the one handedness 😂
Kurt, I just gotta subscribe! Been watching you for a few days now. I used to be a full-time farm hand in Southeast Iowa about 35 years ago for 6 years. If it wasn't corn, beans and wheat, it was hogs cattle and trees to fell for the family sawmill in winter time. Best job I ever enjoyed! And someday, I wanna go into trucking. I just retired 3 months ago at the age of 70 from automotive factory work. Have I a chance?
Well this is something i didn't see coming. Although i filly understand your decission to Do so. I love watching "millinial farmer" with zach Johnson so this will be intertaining for me. Kurt its you and your family that makes your channel successful, and of course the trucking is awesome. Best wishes with whatever you do. NOW GET TO WORK 😅
I was from northeast suburbia, now from southeast suburbia. Drove rt 80 from NY to CA. 54 years ago but have never seen a farm being harvested. Looking forward to the experience and education with you leading the way!
Not going anywhere Kurt. Always enjoy your videos & will continue to do so. A friend of mine is also from Iowa. His name is Lance Gerard & his wife’s name is Jill. I know I will enjoy seeing the Iowa farm landscapes. Maybe 🤔 in time you can finesse the work on First Class (polishing, dressing up a few things) Road worthy is what you wanted to say, my friend. See you soon!
Enjoy the change of pace Mr Kurt. I've been planting harvesting and hauling crops all my life and I'll guarantee you will take to it like a duck to water. Roll easy roll safe sir 🇺🇲
Good luck with the farming adventure. I will be here watching. It will be different but we can both enjoy the change. Keep making videos, I will enjoy watching them.
As a kid we used to help my Uncle on the farm during the summer in Idaho. What a blast running tractors and trucks even before having a driver's license. Especially when you live in California. Good times. Enjoy!!
There's that country song " you gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold "em. I'm an o/o myself so I know that we are all at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to this industry. You do what you gotta do to survive. Good luck to you ......
Hey, I think you have done good! Your bringing in some bucks and giving your back a rest from the continued bouncing down the highway. I'm hoping this will be what you need to get the back calmed down. I'm going to keep watching!
Kurt make him the way you want to. I’ll watch one of them.👍👍👍 remember most people don’t know what it’s like to go through harvest time they’ll probably learn a thing or two. Not saying that most of your subscribers don’t know about that, but I bet there’s a good chunk of them that don’t.

It's great to see you do something different kurt...I subscribe to alot of farming channels so this change will be right up my alley!! Take care
I grew up on a farm and now I’ve been trucking for 30 years so it’s a win win for me. 😊

Somebody better tell the @MillennialFarmer @WelkerFarms and @ColeTheCornstar to step up their game. Farming with Schmidt is gonna blow up.
Thanks for the tip on 10:05. I'm done with pushing the dirt into the tight spots. Vacuum takes too long. I have one of those. Enjoy. I miss farm work.

I watch a ton of trucking and farming videos daily, so what you are doing is great.
Awesome deal. Great background to work in. The farm has to be a neat change of pace. Good job!
That physical moving all day is going to do you wonders. Might have to make a First Class Calender♥️🇬🇧 when your finished for the season.
I am looking forward to the "farming videos. When I was a kid, I would spend a week in the summer with my grandparents on the farm. Those were some of the best memories I have of my childhood.

Farming with Schmidt has a nice ring to it. Enjoy the new experience!
i farmed as a kid until leaving the farm for the USAF. Looking back now, the laste 1940's and early 1950's through 1957 were very good years for my personal development. Might be you're going to find this period in your life to be refreshing. When getting back to Schmidt Family Trucking a feeling of rejuvenation may well recharge your batteries and you'll be glad for that. LOL Thankee for the video. Have a care, get well and stay well.
It's good to take a break from the big road now and then. But be careful, you'll end up like I did. Buying a dump bucket and making the same trip every day and liking it 😆🤣. I hope to be back at it as soon.
Just a warning- farming is addictive. I started helping my uncle on their farm when i was 10. I am now 68. And i have farmed for my self since i was 16.
Yezz-Sirr,,,,,jst like TRUCKIN
This is going to be fun, Kurt. I'm looking forward to it.

Farming with Schmidt has a nice ring to it. The question we all have….. is Opie gonna be a farm dog now?😂 Looking forward to harvest videos.
Give us some Monona County scenery. Beautiful part of Iowa.
