- Thought I'd do a quick mock-up for a title sequence seeing as this episode didn't have one. Tried something different by cutting Ncuti's name out. You'll know why if you've seen the episode.

I love the detail of not including the doctor since he was missing...
Yeah it’s reminds me of Heaven Sent when they didn’t had Jenna’s name in the titles

While I think the episode does really well to not include the title sequence, if it was going to be anywhere then I think you made the right choice of putting it where you did. And especially omitting Ncuti's name! I think that's the one thing the episode really needed. Just Millie's name, no Ncuti. In a perfect world, the simple episode name reveal and Millie's name would've been here and not at the very start.
Or maybe in a wide arial shot the first time the woman appears. That way, with the way the shot is framed with Ruby on one side and the old woman/old Ruby on the other, the title reveal and her name would be directly referencing both the distance between them and hinting at the fact that they are both Ruby. If that makes sense.

the way that crane shot was framed definitely feels like it was intended to be the cold open cliffhanger, but I think I agree for the first time ever that a title sequence would have taken away from the uneasy dreamlogic vibe of the episode. opening with the episode title over the establishing shot made the whole thing feel uneasy and wrong from the get-go, it's honestly a masterclass in family friendly horror
I know it would’ve probably been impossible but imagine the logo got affected too and it just said “Who” in addition to Ncuti’s name being omitted
I saw a post that suggested putting the title sequence immediately after old Ruby dies and it loops back at the end of the episode
What an awful idea. Would've totally ruined the flow and made the reveal feel super clunky in terms of pacing.

There wasn’t a title sequence because it was to be unsettling because the doctor has gone missing
@@Batman69356True, but sometimes a change in the opening can also be unsettling, like in Heaven Sent, Jenna’s name was removed and it was just Capaldi’s, his name stayed there longer which left the viewers know that Clara’s now gone

Nice touch removing Ncuti’s name but I think having the title sequence completely undercuts any tension

Would have been better if millie’s name came up straight away and stayed on screen for a few more seconds then it would play normally into the doctor who logo and episode title

Probably Gillan as Amy’s relationship with the doctor was very close knit. Clara would fit better for the 12th doctor.

Filming schedules necessitated a storyline where The Doctor didn't appear much as Ncuiti was still contracted to be filming the final series of Sex Education at the time this episode was being shot. This was actually the very first episode of the new Doctor Who series to be recorded.
