Everything in Primus sound so fat. Those drums, perfect beat, guitar, meaty, atonal solos and of course the heaviest bass on planet. Primus doesn't fit in any genre but they play the most heavy music ever.
They have balls man. To sound so heavy and WEIRD...WEIRD is brave. You can sound heavy like thrash metal and people might be like, "Well, it's not me but I can see how people like it." With Primus it's like, "What the hell? He's singing about beef? This sounds so...weird." Fuck yeah man. I love it.
Well, this sound doesn't come from nowhere either. Captain Beefheart, Zappa and King Crimson ("Discipline" record) had their share of influence on Primus.
I'm a Tim Alexander man all the way, but goddamn - Brain is a total badass sometimes. One of my very favorite Brain-era Primus songs. Great performance from the trio.
Though the herb is my favourite and the best drummer that has played for Primus, I always like Mantias much more than any other sound than any other Primus drummer. Its got a certain shininess to it which sounds really good.
Same here. I think it was how he hits drums so damn hard! Herb was/is touch and feel. Brain is pure power. Fast attack and quick decay. I heard George Carlin say (not about Primus): "It's not enough to know what notes to play. You need to know why they NEED to be played." Brain meant every note he played.
I saw Primus at Outside Lands this past summer. It was HERB playing and he rocked! The footage is on here. Great cinematography. Great set! So glad I was there!
I was a teen in the 90s, but I'm only now just getting into Primus. There's nothing at the time (or today) that sounds like this. It's about as heavy as a power trio can possibly sound. Many metal bands would kill to get this sound. But also many funk bands! That's not something you often hear.
Love this shit shake hands with beef sound so good and twacked like myself. His bass skills are Grade A I hope one day I can play my bass just as twacked as him, Awesome band!
I love this! I like this version better than the studio version off the "Brown Album". Ler's little fuckup at 1:38 and the couple of rather stern looks Les throws in his direction immediately thereafter are amusing as hell to me! Good stuff! Thanks for uploading!
I really like Primus with their newest lineup. Brain kicks ass! The groove is just deep and they rock out even to the verge of metal. However, "Tommy the Cat" is still my shit!!!
Les Claypool is a bass Playing God, nobody can play as sick as this man. and Larry lalond is awsome on 6 string to play along side him. this performance "live" showcases there abilty together.
Deidre M Ccalla I'm a straight man who loves Primus and I must say Les Claypool has never looked better been in this stage of his career. He almost seems masculine which is weird to combine Les Claypool with LOL
claypool looking like he would much rather be ANYWHERE else other than that stage performing that song lol... they don't do this song live a lot surprisingly
+Von Sterner Im just giving you a hard time dude relax I respect your decision either way im just pickin at you just in a mood. If you meant something else it's all good I'm not hating on you, just being a smart ass.
Les is one of the best Base guitarist i have ever seen and i watch a lot of videos and listen to a lot of music. Most bassists are bland but he really gets the most out of it! Can anyone think of a better bass guitar player other than Les? :P
this song is nasty
in the best way possible
Yes sir.
Rob scallon on a primus video? Hell yeah
Bahaha some decade old TH-cam cred here ;) glad i randomly came looking for this lol
Rob Scallon hai
Hell yeah! Primus sucks!
the bass tone is nasty and beefy
fancy seeing you here Rob
You can thank MESA boogie for that 😎
shake HANDS with beefy.......
Chad
Hi Rob
I would love to own that bass
Dad?
I wish he'd trade basses with me...this shit is fkn fun to play...anyhow...
Fucking harmonics...
So many rob scallon comments
No way!😂
ler is the man
Rob Scallon hollup a comment by Rob Scallon with no replies?? God bless.
I feel privileged to be one of only 20 people to like a Rob Scallon comment
Yup
you used to have a good taste in music 8 years ago, Rob
Rob Scallon hell ya
Christian Bale plays the shit out of that bass.
Haha too funny
+Serpico's Beard and Channing Tatum on guitar
+Serpico's Beard thinking that lolol
+Eugen Korn It's Chris katan on guitar. you know corkey Ramano??
nothing without l ´claypool
stanky as hell
2009 Rob everybody, Popping boners over Primus just like us.
Robby!!!
The stankiest
This is the dictionary definition of stanky...
Yes
Normally, I don’t condone spamming, but Rob Scallon gets to do it here.
i like how he came back a year later to add another comment
Larry's guitar solo here is brilliant. That man deserves a lot more credit than he gets.
I love it, it's as if the brief was "give us a blues solo but make sure you don't hit any of the right notes".
Everything in Primus sound so fat. Those drums, perfect beat, guitar, meaty, atonal solos and of course the heaviest bass on planet. Primus doesn't fit in any genre but they play the most heavy music ever.
+Wiencon It's quite revealing that the main guy is a carpenter. The music actually sounds as if it was carved in wood. It's very physical.

Jeffrey Kazanjian o
wiencheck agreed
The Brown Album is extremely underrated, it's one of their funkiest releases
Damn straight
Yeah I always liked it best , just hypnotic to listen to. This and fisticuffs were my favs
hell yea
One of their jazziest as well
It's my fav album then Frizzle Fry. Took me yrs to decide lol
wow i never knew christian bale was such a good actor. .he looks like he's actually playing bass here..lol
Landon Ra D. 😮😑🤔😄🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol your own joke why don't ya
LOL!
Looks like Edward Norton here
Les plays the most filthy funky ass bass on earth
Les Claypool looks like Christian Bale
Matt LeDrew And Ed Norton
Julie Parton And Serj Tankian.
But none of them looks like Les, weird.
christyinspace Yeah I had a lot things in my ass thorough whole life
Matt LeDrew agreed
AND... ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC ! ha!
Man, i remember catching this on TV as a kid staying up late and watching things I wasn't supposed to. Thank God i did, because I discovered Primus.
Showcase....😜
Fuck. Took me 20 years but just diving right into Primus now. Hope I get to see Les Claypool live.
I showed this vid to my sister. She said she had no idea that the Batman can play bass. lol
I think she meant Bruce Wayne...
just another sic solo from ler...criminally underrated
Amen
SOMETHING6223 I think this maybe my favourite Ler solo. But really, who cares which one I think is best?
They all suck! ;-)
Still criminally underrated in 2019
I made a guitar cover of this song.
Brain is the only drummer ive heard that can groove like bonham. the whole brown album is pure bonham.
I'm a Tim Alexander man all the way, but goddamn - Brain is a total badass sometimes.
One of my very favorite Brain-era Primus songs. Great performance from the trio.
If the color brown had a song, this would be it.
This is one intoxicatingly thick, slamming track. It's been a welcome earworm for me recently.
Lerry LaLonde is such an underrated guitarist, i have yet to find someone who uses such a unique set of licks and applies them so well.
One of the best sounding live bands is "Primus"
les has the most gigantic tone in this video. it cracks me up because you can clearly hear it above the guitar and drums. it's just overwhelming.
Can you imagine being there? Lol must have sounded orgasmic.
That cracks you up?
@@stanknugget Bruh, this was THIRTEEN YEARS AGO

@@stanknugget The answer is still yes
Brain = The best Primus drummer of all time
Tim is 10x better.
Every Primus drummer is awesome
yomfnmammy that's a silly thing to say.
Tim, Brian, and Jay are ALL great drummers.
How so?
Though the herb is my favourite and the best drummer that has played for Primus, I always like Mantias much more than any other sound than any other Primus drummer. Its got a certain shininess to it which sounds really good.

Herb's good, but Brain Mantia is on another level. Listening to his work with Tom Waits and Primus, it's just kind of otherworldy.
My thoughts go back to the Primus/Rush tours. Two of the best bassists, same show.
I had no idea Zlatan Ibrahimovic's dad is more talented than he is.
every time he pulls on the string, it sounds like construction site noises
it’s awesome
This song is great. I love Ler's guitar solo in this. He's such a great guitarist, the whole band is superb.
The groove of this song is awesome!!!! the whole band is excellent, but a drummer is amazing!!!
Edward Norton would make a great Les Claypool impersonator for a movie
by far my favorite primus song
That last roll of Brain... brings sweat on my brow!:-)
such a killer groove! I love how its soo heavy and catchy!
I saw Primus at Outside Lands this past summer. It was HERB playing and he rocked! The footage is on here. Great cinematography. Great set! So glad I was there!
Fkn Aliens!! Absolute favorite line. _Aways_ bouncing around in my head since the first day I heard it!! So fine so sweet❤
This version of this song is one of the heaviest things I've ever heard from Primus. Love me some Primus.
they make a movie on Les we all know who's playing him.
+Kev Zammit Yea Me
Kev Zammit batman
always been one of the most underated bands out there, thats why i love them

larry stoned and claypool on the virge of laughter
Still the best version, magnificent.
Gotta love the drums in this song, darn funky!
Love this shit shake hands with beef sound so good and twacked like myself. His bass skills are Grade A I hope one day I can play my bass just as twacked as him, Awesome band!
Everytime I really liked a song, I would look up the lyrics and try to understand them. Believe me, this one cost me a few nights of sleep.

This is such a good tune. The drums are vicious on the album version. I've even mixed it into a few Hip-Hop DJ sets I've done.
Amazing, one of the most progressive original bands ever. Thanks for posting.
so much power from a 3 piece!! love it!!
The riff even makes me laugh
Love this band 💞
what a good rythm !one of their best!
love his smiling at 2:15
damn, the look to normal for primus
This is awesome. Claypool is awesome.... And that bass is awesome.
I'm watching the end drum fill frame by frame. SOO GREAT!
hey looks like spenny in this hahah spencer rice!

GRANDE!!!! PRIMUS!!!
Damn, Brain was laying down some sick drumming. Sick stuff, Primus couldn't get better than this!
A great Song from a Fantasistic album! Brown that is!
That's a mighty fine bass sound you got there.
Patrick Bateman plays for Primus?
Phil Trujeque then how is he playing Bass??!!
After this gig he went to return some videotapes.....
patrick batman
Edward Norton on bass!
jonswan12 nah more like christian bale
what a highly under rated primus song...so fucking good! and i love brains style of drumming
The brown album was one of the most underrated Primus albums. Some great songs on it.
Les claypool looks so hot!
Deidre M Ccalla I'm a straight man who loves Primus and I must say Les Claypool has never looked better been in this stage of his career. He almost seems masculine which is weird to combine Les Claypool with LOL

It's 2016 and Primus still sucks.

Pablo Oyarzo You don't know what "Primus sucks" mean? Look it up before you insult anyone else.
Pablo Oyarzo You must be new here
Yes, it's 2016. No, it doesn't suck and it never will. Shut the fuck up :D
Dude, Primus sucks. Everyone knows that.
i've been looking for this clip forever! i think this was from conan o'brian. thank you!
Shear genius out of all three musicians.
3:43
MrMaskedMan his face
Brain was having BASS on his brain.
Jeez wtf i dont even remember wrinting this comment, but yeah the drummer have a great face there
The snare drum sounds weird
Brain doesn't get much appreciation as a Primus drummer but I really like his style. Lays down a solid beat with swagger and authority.
One of the sickest grooves I've ever heard...
claypool looking like he would much rather be ANYWHERE else other than that stage performing that song lol...
they don't do this song live a lot surprisingly
they don't do songs from Mantia era

This has to be one of the best claypool basslines ever. Ass shakingly good.
On tunes like Hamburger Train, no one in the world can touch Ler!!!
Awesome live performance.
what a performance! brain is killin it
The Brown Album is amazing. Still one of my favorite albums.
that is one sweet bass. les has some killer basses.
Larry should or hopefully patented that “move” of rolling back on his heals a few times! Awesome!
this song is so awesome
Les is in king of bass. I like a lot of rock music and i cant think of a better bass player off the top of my head !
Ler playing outta those JCM 900's. Great tone.👍
