      There are HIV strains what are immune against most common medication. In that case person has to take up to 30 pills each day in order to keep the HIV in check... many pills have bad side effects including diarrhea, liver damage, vomiting and so on.
      Your attitude is very reckless.

    but don't try to make someone seem or feel bad and guilty because they won't date you because you have HIV, I am sorry but no one should be pushed into being in an intimate relationship with you or anyone else while they don't feel comfortable about it just to make you happy.

      Slob on my knob People do not deserve hiv it's a virus if you judge people and you don't know what it is seriously need to search it because we should not treat others different if there hiv positive they are the same person with a virus that you can't catch by shaking hands or them sneezing on you just be respectful and caring it's not like there suddenly gonna lash out on you because of it and you would like it if others called you names just because you have a virus chicken pox is a virus and it's still in our bodies from when we were little but you don't call names because we have a chicken pox virus do you ?

  • @billjones7754
    @billjones7754 8 ปีที่แล้ว +713

    I don't really see the problem :/ Someone who you're potentially going to be in a relationship deserves to know straight away if you are HIV+ - it's a serious disease. People should certainly look into further detail before making an immediate judgement, but there should be no chance of a relationship developing where it's not discussed, so I fail to see the real issue here tbh.

    • @oscmag13
      @oscmag13 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I kind of disagree, especially on temporary dating sites like grinder and tinder, why should someone risk their life to make you sexually fulfilled?I don't even let my girlfriend kiss me when I have the flu, why would you sleep with someone with HIV or AIDS? 0-4% might be a small figure, but when it means you could have a shortened more troublesome life, why risk it?
    To the sufferers goes my sympathy, I do think there should be dating apps for people with STIs and what not, but risking healthy people for your sexual pleasure really isn't my definition of what is OK.

      people cannot be certain at any given time that they have not contracted HIV since it takes at least 6 weeks after infection to show up in bloodwork, therefore having sex with a positive person who has an undetectable viral load can be much safer that with someone who doesnt know their status. If the negative partner also takes preventative medication, unprotected sex can be haf with virtually no risk of transmission whatsoever, and thats not even counting condoms

    I can understand being worried about having sexual contact with a person who's HIV+, but there is definitely a stigma about HIV+ people. It makes a lot of people afraid or disgusted to even associate (non-sexually) with someone who has HIV, as though they are "dirty", and as if their HIV is contagious by just being around them. That stigma, in my opinion, is what needs to go.

    • @AidanLSRP
      @AidanLSRP 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the stigma is a result of the lack of medical options years ago. it was viewed as a dirty disease due to it being speculated as a disease transmitted through gay sex. obviously the stigma has remained

    • @veronicah7735

      +яαιивσω ღ You do realize that you can't contract HIV unless you either share blood, genital fluids/secretions, or breast milk, right? You're not going to get HIV from them pretty much unless you're using the same needle as them or having sex with them. Breathing the same air or being around/touching someone with HIV will not cause you to catch their disease. Acting as though they're "dirty" or "contagious" just from being around them makes you seem very uneducated.

    • @Nyctosuba
      @Nyctosuba 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's only logical to want to avoid those who are "sick". Even if you can only get it through blood, milk, or whatever, most people wouldn't want to be around someone with a possibly lethal disease, especially if they can get it themselves. Not to mention the other diseases they could transmit due to having a weak immune system.
      I'm sure they're great people and all, but if you have a possibility, no matter how slim, of giving me a disease that'll change my life forever and destroy my immunity to disease, I wouldn't want to stick around either.

    HIV+ people can have "safer" sex if they
    1. Know they have HIV
    2. Are taking the pill which significantly lowers their chances of passing it on to others.
    One of the main reasons that many people are becoming HIV+ is because the person that they have sex with doesn't know that they are HIV+ themselves. I can get why being HIV+ affects your chances at a sexual relationship, but having HIV shouldn't be a reason that these people can't be loved.
    Get tested, be aware, and stand up for those being discriminated.

    It's one thing to discriminate against gays and lesbians, but it's another to discriminate against HIV positives. Most cases of HIV are gotten during someone's lifetime, not as soon as they were born with it. In my opinion, I see it as totally okay to discriminate against those with STDs such as HIV. Most of the time, its the person with the virus' fault for not keeping it in his/her pants. And judging by the people in this video, they all didn't get it when they were born.

      It's not even discrimination, since you just want to contract a mortal virus, apart from that, they had their chance to be "clean", and even if they were born with it it's not their fault it's from their parents for not saving them from HIV.

    • @Nyctosuba

    I genuinely can't believe people agree with this video. My uncle died because he slept with someone who was HIV positive and didn't tell him. This kind of thing isn't a joke, and it isn't selfish to not want to risk your life to spare someone's feelings. I lost a loved one to this desease and while I know it's not their fault entirely that they have it, it still isn't right for them to try and make you feel bad for not wanting to be sexual or date them. Sorry.

  • @slypancake

    Can't get mad at people who don't want to date someone with HIV... I wouldn't feel comfortable to date someone with an STD, I don't want to risk contracting it. It's nothing against the person, I want to protect myself. In a nonsexual relationship, sure. I would totally be fine with it. But seriously, you can't be upset when someone who wants to have a sexual relationship doesn't want to be with someone who has something so serious (that's contractible)

  • @sivx17

    I mean when it comes to dating specifically...your potential partner should definitely be aware that you is HIV positive and have the chance to make a decision about whether or not to pursue a relationship with you. I mean people do the same kinds of things with other diseases or conditions, because who would want to be with someone who can't handle their illness? They shouldn't be stigmatized because of their condition but they also shouldn't be surprised or offended if people will choose not to pursue relationships with them because of it.

    I'm glad that Buzzfeed made this video about this issue. So many people associated such distasteful and incorrect stigmas to people who are HIV-positive. We need to educate ourselves before we are so quick to act or judge because the vast majority of people have no idea what it actually means to be HIV positive or how an HIV infection works. I'm not HIV positive, but I've done a lot of research and essays about it and it means a lot that people are bringing attention to it and educating people about it.

So thank you for your contribution to an already known fact and maybe think before you comment next time.
