I have been cooking noodles/ stir fry for years but have never got that Takeaway quality.Tonight I followed your instructions , I had to use sharwoods fine egg noodles but it came out a treat, never have I managed this!My son said I had performed witchcraft and will put Tong Wong ( our local fantastic takeaway) out of business. That’s highly unlikely but I take the compliment!!
Thanks Chin and Choo for sharing.

So since finding your channel I have been binge watching. I consider myself a bit of a 'foodie' and have tried to emulate some takeaway dishes over the years, but my Chinese ones never come close. Used your recipe here (without all my extras I've tried such as sesame oil) and it was bloody spot on! Tasted just right. The tip to scorch noodles a bit works wonders for the taste. Trying your jumbo pancake rolls this weekend! Thanks both - very entertaining as well Chin & Choo!

I love stir fry noodles so much, one thing I find i do when i make my own is I put too much in it. I'm always adding XO sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, five kinds of vegetables and it becomes a bit of a mess, flavour and texture-wise.
It's best to just keep it simple.

Can't wait to have my items going to give chicken chow mein a go when they arrive in the post. Any tips would be great i'll be cooking it on a electric cooker not the one where the hobs light up when on the other style cooker. I tried making it a month or two ago but it was tasteless and no matter how much dark soy sauce I put on it didn't really go that dark as I like mine dark. So I am also hoping that the MSG will make a difference and if I like the chow mein then I will buy more ingredients from you. Love watching you both here in the UK xx

Thanks, MSG makes a huge difference, some places will use loads and some less, so its finding out which works for you

Cheers for this! I've been using sesame oil and wondering why the noodles don't get that brown colouring and similar flavour. Beginner mistakes. This makes so much more sense.
    I too love lamp.

I enjoy watching your tutorials as like this, I’m not having to add all kinds of add-ons to make it taste nice as it is just right the way it is. So saving me money and time. The problem I seem to be having now that I didn’t when I first started doing it this way is that as soon as I put the noodles in, it is all sticking to the wok??? I have to scrub the wok in between each cooking. Where am I going wrong???

sound like ether your noodles are overcooked or that you have to session your wok

My favorite food is soft noodles. I like like to cook for myself so am trying to find the missing ingredient that take aways use.. I wondered for a long time if it was the quality of Soy sauce? I'm now wondering if it the MSG. The only thing I haven't used. Thanks.

Made this today. The wife said it was better than the local take away. Very nice but I found it was a little to salty for me. I think I will miss out the half teaspoon of salt next time and just rely on the salt flavour of the soy sauce. Keep up the good work. Over the moon I discovered your videos.

Thank you for this channel, it's great! Do you have a suggestion for an alternative to egg noodles, and what form to buy them in? Eg dried, fresh? Thank you

I also wanting know how to make chicken satay skewers, my local Chinese makes the best ones I've tried, even better than ones I've tried in Hong Kong and the Philippines 😊

Ah dude just made this and was just like British Chinese TakeAway.
I'm in Philippines and missing TakeAway food since there's no Chinese takeaways here (the few restaurants here only do beef and broccoli or chopsuey), theres no Indian takeaways here, no fish and chip shops, no pubs so I have to make all these recipes myself.

Great vid guys. Would be extremely helpful if you explained how to correctly brown the MSG. Many subscribers find difficulty in doing so. Whereby they end up with a hard crystallized lump. And loose molars. 😀😀😀

I would really love to know how the Chinese take aways here in England make their king prawn curry. It's my family's absolute favourite dish from most take aways. Some seem to make the sauce/gravy a red ish colour and some more of a dark green colour. Depending on which Chinese or which chef made it, then the flavours are similar but different. Please please tell me the secrets!!

I bloody love noodles. Might have to go for a 20 mile drive to my nearest Chinese supermarket to get some decent noodles at the weekend.

Well said about sesame oil. And it annoys me when supermarkets sell fried rice with distinct sesame oil taste. I bet they’re trying to hide ready cooked, old rice taste

Takeaways will only ever use veg oil, 1 because it flavour neutral and 2 because its cheap, hope this helps :)

And 4th reason I can think of for sesame oil debate is allergies. As someone that works in hospitality for 10years I saw first hand that it’s a big common allergen aswell. I love it but few drops too many and your dish taste ONLY like sesame 😅
Btw absolutely LOVE your channel guys, great work 🥰 and mom is just the sweetest! ❤

Thank you and 100% we actually won’t serve someone with a sesame allergy in our restaurant, we’d love too but as we use sesame seeds a lot and sesame oil as a garnish that splashes, it’s not worth the risk for a couple of £.

Love these noodles. My daughter likes noodles plain (no onion) do I still add the salt and msg to the wok before I add the noodles?
