I just made this for the first time for Christmas dinner yesterday. This is the best corn pudding I have ever tasted. Every one of my guests raved about it!
I do 1can corn with liquid, 1can cream corn, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup sour cream, salt and pepper to taste and 1 box Jiffy cornbread mix all dumped in a square baking dish. Stir everything together and bake according to box of jiffy. So easy. Less work then yours but maybe yours tastes better. Try mine. It's really good and less work.
That’s cornbread casserole, which is almost pretty similar in the recipe. This recipe calls for lots of extra ingredients & isn’t necessary for a really good corn pudding. I was surprised as much as he cooks he didn’t tell his subscribers how to make the heavy whipping cream with butter n vitamin D milk to save money.
My husband is from Richmond Va. They eat a lot of corn pudding. It is one of his most favorite dishes. His grandmothers was so good. Unfortunately she passed away before we got her recipe. We had a bumper crop of corn this year and have plenty of frozen. I am going to surprise him and fix this for thanksgiving. Thank you Tom and Melissa! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Very similar to what my family makes. My dad's family was from the Amish area of PA and the difference is the fresh corn was grated off the cobs, the eggs were separated and the egg whites beaten then folded in and cornstarch instead of flour and no mixing while baking! Love it, brings fond memories back!

I love finding your recipe for Corn Pudding! My mom is from Edgefield, South Carolina and we called it Aunt Rubys Corn Pudding. I was 7 years old when I first tried it I loved it and couldn’t figure out why my mom never made it! Since then , Our family made it for special meals and church gatherings. I have always made it in a ban Marie water bath, but I am now convinced I don’t have to! I can’t wait to try your recipe using cream not milk. It is a nice story about caring for your congregation with meals. ( one thing mom would put in is a jar of pimentos) those were not so popular hahah. Thank you for sharing.

OK, we have to write this comment to anyone who might try this recipe. We just made this for our Thanksgiving dinner 2024. OMG is was fantastic! My wife is "gluten free" so we had to skip the traditional flour so we used 3 TBSP of our gluten-free pancake mix that was on the shelf. I think it was better than if you were to use plain old flour. Gluten-free or regular, I'd suggest to try a packaged pancake mix as we thought it gave a flavor and consistency that was just over the top! I also agree to never change a recipe until you try it out original first, but try it, it was amazing! A new staple for our table. Thank you!

I had never in my life had corn pudding until my family moved to Southside Virginia. My Mawmaw came to stay with us from north Alabama during the months of January, February, and March every year. On the weekends, she stayed with me, and one night, I made corn pudding. Mawmaw was a somewhat finicky eater, but she absolutely loved that corn pudding, I shared my recipe with her, and she made it until she went home to be with the Lord. I miss her so much. She was my heart, and I was hers. Tom, I will definitely try your recipe. It's similar to mine but I believe yours will be better than mine. That heavy cream surely makes a difference.

I’m from the UK. I love watching US cooks (and learning about culinary cultures in different countries ) but I can’t believe how many savoury American recipes contain large amounts of sugar. Here in the UK our savoury dishes very rarely contain any sugar. If they do it is usually just a teaspoon or two with very acidic dishes
