I bought the shirt yesterday in L.A. with the Type 3 trucker Jacket, already have the 23oz Jeans off of eBay at half off sticker price. I’m an OTR owner operator trucker and the closet Ive got is very small in my truck. So the clothing, socks, winter kit is TOP of the line. “Darn tough Socks” 100% wool 2 Filson vest one western (collared) one regular 1 double Mackinaw cruiser (20f and below) 1970’s 1 Seattle cruiser (38f and up) new One Barbour waxed cotton jacket (rain) on its 3rd year One Carhart Canvas vest, that I waxed myself 2 100% wool 1960 army surplus blankets. I’ve been in -30f, broke down with APU cut off to save fuel for a week in a blizzard. Hell blizzards so many times that I get cold just thinking about it. My first six months trucking I didn’t even have heat THE ENTIRE WINTER. AN ENTIRE FUCKING WINTER WITH ZERO HEAT. Jesus I’ve blocked that out. I spend my money on gear and equipment, I already know I want some weatherwool kit and some arcterex. But I can’t wear a suit and tie to shippers and receivers, but just because I’m not in a suit doesn’t mean I can’t show up in the finest craftsmanship denim the market can produce, wearing top of the line head to toe equipment I can invest in. And everyone I interact with knows I’m a professional and I treat what I do seriously, and the clothes they see me in is professional and well thought out with an ethos. The dudes who don’t understand not buying Walmart, hell don’t waste your breath. I think it’s cool that you enjoy higher quality things. I’ve come to realize that concept over the years… why buy junk that you have to replace, buy quality that lasts and you can pass down. Everybody likes what they like. Like you said, it’s not always about what it costs, but does it give you joy?

Well since most can’t afford $400 jeans.. I wear round-house jeans and bibs all American clothes.. I have had great luck with them long lasting denim.. $60 for denim jeans 14 oz heavy cotton American cotton
Love roundhouse pants and bibs. However, Bravestar does offer quality Japanese denim, at a fairly affordable price, while completely assembling and acquiring the other items from the US. Huge fan of both but, roundhouse is most definitely often overlooked and it baffles me.

There’s really no explaining the feeling of owning a high quality item that you can have for the rest of your life. They gain patina that make it akin to consistently getting something “new”. New in the sense that it’s changing in a way that reflects how YOU have used it. To think that $400 is expensive for something you can use for decades…is backwards.

I have 3 pairs of IH jeans, an IH horsehide jacket, the 16oz slubby type 3, and oiled N1 in olive, an IH hoodie in olive, and the kersey western shirt in indigo. They’re all wonderful and I enjoy living my life in them. I’m waiting on the day that they release a new western UH flannel that I can’t resist.
Very sharp! I’m a big fan of Wrangler, the 47 series jeans and denim jacket. They do show the marks of personality. You can still see my Leatherman Free P4 even when it isn’t in my jeans. The details matter. I wash mine fairly normally however. Enjoyed the video
My rustlers cost $15 at wal mart. I cut logs and firewood I buck 1000 bales of hay each year dig my irrigation ditches and work 40-60 hours a week at my job. My jeans hold up great. The only expensive things I buy are my carhart t shirts. I can’t spell carhart. $18 each. Last 4 years wearing them twice a week each.
I don't earn much but will always try to save and buy quality items that give a little happiness every day. I enjoy thes videos, listening to the passion you have for the things you love and appreciate
Yup, it’s always better to buy quality. It doesn’t always mean expensive. I keep my wardrobe simple these days. I don’t have a lot of money, but I’ll still buy $300 jeans. I still wear a pair that’s over 12 years old
Wranglerstar, sounds like iron heart will a couple generations and one day you will be able to pass them down to your son. I absolutely love the look and "patina" they take as you work and break them in, but I just looked iron heart up and dang they are pricey. I think I will stick to my levis and carhartt ( I know my truckers jacket and Detroit jacket will last so I can give them to my son), maybe one day will pay that price lol. The way you explain your passion for quality denim and how it's a hobby to you is how I feel about my vintage leather jacket collection. Not all of them are actually vintage but I have 2 thick horsehide military A-2 jackets that are only a few years old but are cut from a WW2 contractors pattern, I'm still breaking them in. And then there's the two '60s era Lesco leather cafe racer jackets among others. It's a fun hobby but I haven't bought another one in probably 3 or 4 years, it gets expensive. I still don't own any of the premier leather jackets from say Schott, Lost Worlds, Aero Leathers, etc etc, but hopefully one of these days. Those are some high dollar leathers.

I work in fabrication and welding. I go through 2 or so wranglers a year. My iron heart 634 are now 3 years old. I also like the 21oz fabric since it shrugs off hot bbs from mig.
I'm glad you made this video. I used to think it was odd that you were constantly wearing high quality denim. It was honestly kind of annoying. However...NOW I get it. It's just something you enjoy. Not dang thing wrong with that. Context is everything. Not only will I not be annoyed anymore, but as I said previously in another comment, I actually learned something. Don't be afraid to throw in some more denim content and daily tidbits. Like normal use type stuff. Would be interesting to learn.
Working on power lines I would ruin a pair of jeans completely in two weeks and boots would only last 3 months. So breaking in denim is such a crazy thing to say to a working man 😂

@@wranglerstar hope you are hanging in there with the wildfires - the huckleberry short sounded like a good reprieve for you today. Unfortunately, US selvedge denim came to a close in 2018 with the closing of Cone Mills White Oak factory. I love the story that raw denim can tell over time. And at a higher cost and awesome quality, imho it makes repairs worth it to continue the story and keep on wearing it. 15 years and 3-4 crotch blowouts and a pocket blowout later, it STILL feels higher quality than mass produced jeans. It's a shame since Cone Mills denim easily gave Japanese denim a run for the money.

I’ve also got a 526j -14ib and love it. It was my first Iron Heart piece. I am doing the redline rally in a Kent jacket at the moment, and really miss wearing my iron heart. The though I do love my Brave Star Gauntlet. Selvage denim has great for really expressing your personality for the exact reason you said. Each jacket will wear differently for each person. I have the same 14oz jacket and it wear is very different from yours.
I can appreciate the quality of these products; probably built with pride and definitely not throwaway garbage. these jackets will last longer than the man and his son will be able to enjoy them someday.
My favorite denim piece is my grandfathers Wrangler wool lined jacket. When he passed in 2004, my grandmother let me have. There are so many scratches, burn marks, and wear marks and hope my son will one day add to them like i am.

Nice pieces. Just FYI - your last jacket is an indigo black which is different than the iron heart overdying process. Indigo black has an indigo warp and black weft which gives that unique color and fade. If this were over dyed, during this stage you wouldn’t be able to see the selvedge ID on your cuffs for example. They would have a dyed black look which over time would also fade. I have the over dyed black version of your CPO jacket. All really awesome pieces!

I've tried a few pairs of cheaper raw denim jeans over the years from brands like Naked and Famous and Nudies and they always just fell apart too quickly. Was looking into getting a pair of Samurais or Iron Hearts recently and seeing how Iron Heart holds up for you is making me want to pull the trigger.
Well, I'm not going to pay 400 bucks for a pair of jeans for work, because my job is ruthless on clothes, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate what you have going on with your Iron Heart collection. I wear Prison Blues, and like that they're USA made (that's a big deal for me). It's also nice that they're inexpensive, but wear amazing. Someday, I might just have to buy a pair of Iron Heart for my going to town jeans. They do look spiffy.

I completely understand your fascination with the highest quality denim and boots. For me it’s knives (I own several customs including a Tony Bose) and take down bows. There’s a quality difference you can only understand after you experience a thing personally. I truly understand why Tony Bose was so revered. Shoot an Oneida and tell me it’s not worth the money. If you know you know, I don’t know denim but I get it.
Iron heart makes amazing stuff. They last a lifetime and when you factor cost per wear they are very reasonable. That said for those who wish to pay a bit less start with bravestar selvage. Made in America. They are high quality selvage denim. They make double front jeans as well and they are tanks. All for about 140 bucks.
Very interesting, this is something I really know very little about. I collect and restore diecast cars myself which has less utility. I love the way Cody is such an epic troll. In the YT algorithm, any like or dislike are engagement and every comment, positive or negative figures even more prominently.
Nice stuff. There’s something to be said about buy once, cry once. I hate clothes shopping. For jeans I stick with Ariat m5s, I gotta have flexibility and movement. Jean jackets are very underrated work gear, I grab old ones I find. In Texas, there not much of a season for thick denim, so Carhartt jackets reign supreme in the winter, preferably US made ones.

These heavier weight raw denims express your own personal wear through the fading patterns. Each garment ends up being completely unique to the wearer. It’s not for everyone. It absolutely isn’t meant to be for everyone. But some of us enjoy being able to see things change with us over time. There’s always a story to be told with raw denim.
Here in Middle America where heat hits hard, your clothes would be discusting if you wore them 3 days in a row without washing. Sweat stank and sweat stains would ruin your denim for sure.

If you can afford it, go for it. I wish I could. I make do with Wrangler jeans. They hold up well enough for me. Usually get 4-5 years out of a pair with heavy use. Sometimes more. Haven’t bought a pair since before 2020.
One year in the 1970’s , my then teenage daughter asked for $80 jeans. I told her that I must have failed as a father if that’s what her priorities had become. I signed up myself and my children to deliver groceries on Christmas morning to disadvantaged families from our church. I also applied to become a foster parent so that my children could get a different worldview than the only one that they were exposed to in our middle class neighborhood. I would never feel comfortable wearing jeans that cost $400. First, I would feel ripped off paying so much for something that I can own for much less, and secondly, I don’t appreciate ostentatious displays of wealth. If this disqualifies me from being a ProHo, so be it.
Sooo, paying more for something that is made to last your lifetime, doesn’t make sense to you, and that’s alright. But your statement about the ability to have the same thing, much cheaper, is quite wrong. One of life’s little lessons, that I’ve found to be, for the most part, consistently true, is that you get what you pay for. It’s also been proven that over the long term, buying cheap poorly made goods, ends up costing substantially more, and not just monetarily. But to each his own
Stick it in the freezer, the cold kills the bacteria, and therefore smell, helps me when on mission work in areas without washing machines, learned this off of a biker in western nepal.

I absolutely love the look and "patina" they take as you work and break them in, but I just looked iron heart up and dang they are pricey. I think I will stick to my levis and carhartt ( I know my truckers jacket and Detroit jacket will last so I can give them to my son), maybe one day will pay that price lol. It only took me 6-8 years to finally buy my Filson waxed cruiser and a pair of Nick's. The way you explain your passion for quality denim and how it's a hobby to you is how I feel about my vintage leather jacket collection. Not all of them are actually vintage but I have 2 thick horsehide military A-2 jackets that are only a few years old but are cut from a WW2 contractors pattern, I'm still breaking them in. And then there's the two '60s era Lesco leather cafe racer jackets among others. It's a fun hobby but I haven't bought another one in probably 3 or 4 years, it gets expensive. I still don't own any of the premier leather jackets from say Schott, Lost Worlds, Aero Leathers, etc etc, but hopefully one of these days. Those are some high dollar leathers.

We all pick and choose our hobbies and what we choose to do...I get to wear and meet other people who are into this, and it's just a very fun thing that really appeals to me. Every time I put it on and wear it and enjoy it, it makes life more fun.

I work in fabrication and welding. I go through 2 or so wranglers a year. My iron heart 634 are now 3 years old. I also like the 21oz fabric since it shrugs off hot bbs from mig.
I'm glad you made this video. I used to think it was odd that you were constantly wearing high quality denim. It was honestly kind of annoying. However...NOW I get it. It's just something you enjoy. Not dang thing wrong with that. Context is everything. Not only will I not be annoyed anymore, but as I said previously in another comment, I actually learned something. Don't be afraid to throw in some more denim content and daily tidbits. Like normal use type stuff. Would be interesting to learn.

Unfortunately, US selvedge denim came to a close in 2018 with the closing of Cone Mills White Oak factory.
I love the story that raw denim can tell over time. And at a higher cost and awesome quality, imho it makes repairs worth it to continue the story and keep on wearing it. 15 years and 3-4 crotch blowouts and a pocket blowout later, it STILL feels higher quality than mass produced jeans. It's a shame since Cone Mills denim easily gave Japanese denim a run for the money.

I’ve also got a 526j -14ib and love it. It was my first Iron Heart piece. I am doing the redline rally in a Kent jacket at the moment, and really miss wearing my iron heart. The though I do love my Brave Star Gauntlet. Selvage denim has great for really expressing your personality for the exact reason you said. Each jacket will wear differently for each person. I have the same 14oz jacket and it wear is very different from yours.

You can't beat great denim! I've always had a pair of RMWilliams denim trousers and they age better than I do. Definitely heirloom denim.
My favorite denim piece is my grandfathers Wrangler wool lined jacket. When he passed in 2004, my grandmother let me have. There are so many scratches, burn marks, and wear marks and hope my son will one day add to them like i am.
Because you have the money and can. Enough said. Most of us can’t afford these “luxuries”. We wear regular and hard word molds them. To each their own!

Nice pieces. Just FYI - your last jacket is an indigo black which is different than the iron heart overdying process. Indigo black has an indigo warp and black weft which gives that unique color and fade.
If this were over dyed, during this stage you wouldn’t be able to see the selvedge ID on your cuffs for example. They would have a dyed black look which over time would also fade. I have the over dyed black version of your CPO jacket.

I've tried a few pairs of cheaper raw denim jeans over the years from brands like Naked and Famous and Nudies and they always just fell apart too quickly. Was looking into getting a pair of Samurais or Iron Hearts recently and seeing how Iron Heart holds up for you is making me want to pull the trigger.
Well, I'm not going to pay 400 bucks for a pair of jeans for work, because my job is ruthless on clothes, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate what you have going on with your Iron Heart collection. I wear Prison Blues, and like that they're USA made (that's a big deal for me). It's also nice that they're inexpensive, but wear amazing. Someday, I might just have to buy a pair of Iron Heart for my going to town jeans. They do look spiffy.
yeah id love to have those same pants but i work with ink and solvents so they'd be looking like a rainbow in 6 months and at a year probably completely black lol have to be fancy pants for me as well

I completely understand your fascination with the highest quality denim and boots. For me it’s knives (I own several customs including a Tony Bose) and take down bows. There’s a quality difference you can only understand after you experience a thing personally. I truly understand why Tony Bose was so revered. Shoot an Oneida and tell me it’s not worth the money. If you know you know, I don’t know denim but I get it.
Iron heart makes amazing stuff. They last a lifetime and when you factor cost per wear they are very reasonable. That said for those who wish to pay a bit less start with bravestar selvage. Made in America. They are high quality selvage denim. They make double front jeans as well and they are tanks. All for about 140 bucks.

Nice stuff. There’s something to be said about buy once, cry once. I hate clothes shopping. For jeans I stick with Ariat m5s, I gotta have flexibility and movement. Jean jackets are very underrated work gear, I grab old ones I find. In Texas, there not much of a season for thick denim, so Carhartt jackets reign supreme in the winter, preferably US made ones.

This Midwest man understands $400 jeans in principle - even if they aren't in my budget. I do not, however, understand what the deal is with the "fades". But...I'm glad you're enjoying them.

These heavier weight raw denims express your own personal wear through the fading patterns. Each garment ends up being completely unique to the wearer. It’s not for everyone. It absolutely isn’t meant to be for everyone. But some of us enjoy being able to see things change with us over time. There’s always a story to be told with raw denim.
Here in Middle America where heat hits hard, your clothes would be discusting if you wore them 3 days in a row without washing. Sweat stank and sweat stains would ruin your denim for sure.

If you can afford it, go for it. I wish I could. I make do with Wrangler jeans. They hold up well enough for me. Usually get 4-5 years out of a pair with heavy use. Sometimes more. Haven’t bought a pair since before 2020.
I will stick with Roundhouse and Origin for my American made Denim. Good on Iron Heart for keeping it at home, but damn that is a bit too expensive.

One year in the 1970’s , my then teenage daughter asked for $80 jeans. I told her that I must have failed as a father if that’s what her priorities had become. I signed up myself and my children to deliver groceries on Christmas morning to disadvantaged families from our church. I also applied to become a foster parent so that my children could get a different worldview than the only one that they were exposed to in our middle class neighborhood. I would never feel comfortable wearing jeans that cost $400. First, I would feel ripped off paying so much for something that I can own for much less, and secondly, I don’t appreciate ostentatious displays of wealth. If this disqualifies me from being a ProHo, so be it.

I’m in South Louisiana….there is no way I could wear something daily for 6 months before washing it. It would reek.
Stick it in the freezer, the cold kills the bacteria, and therefore smell, helps me when on mission work in areas without washing machines, learned this off of a biker in western nepal.
