I read the summary of this book on Littler Books and thought some of the advice are very questionable. Would anyone actually want to interact with someone who "get others to do the work for you, but always take the credit", or "use selective honesty and generosity to disarm their victims"? Thoughts?

Thank you for the 48 Laws of Power. I am 72 years old. I don’t have a relationship with my family. I worried about who would help me if I fell ill. For over a year, I had nightmares of horrible things happening to me as I aged. I reread the 48 Laws of Power 2 months ago hoping for wisdom. I fell ill last month. My doctor failed to find the cause of my illness. The next day after the doctor visit, I lay in bed feeling sick when I remembered 2 laws: enter with boldness (36) and be formless (48). I opened my laptop and sent gift cards to people I knew and ignored the advice of my mental health counselor who told me that they may question my motives. Within minutes I felt well. My friends never questioned my motives and were happy I reached out. I terminated the services of my counselor. I decided I am going to face my future with boldness and be formless. Now I sleep soundly with no nightmares.

As a person of faith, i can really understand why religious people think with their emotions than they do with their minds. One thing they fail to understand is that many religious demagogues use these same laws to keep a tight grip on their followers.
What Greene offers the world is the secret of every tyrant garbed as a saint or a lamb. He did an excellent home work before coming to the public with this remarkable magnum opus.
When i read his laws of humab nature, i could relate to a lot.
Greene is that teacher and public guide who says it as it is and shows you how to live and make the best of this life.
Thanks so much for what you have given to the world through your brilliant mind. You will have to really believe in the power of the human mind to read, understand and love Robert Greene

I love Robert Green and appreciate him and his books . I bought several books including 48 Law.
I was outshining my manager and got psychologically bullied . I didn’t understand why , felt hurt because I worked so hard to make my manager proud and to get her approval. Until I come across 48 law , read the first chapter “ never outshining master “.
Robert Green is chosen one , to bring this knowledge into the world .

I read this back in the early '00s. It was instrumental in helping me navigate corporate politics. Before reading this I was blissfully naive, but constantly frustrated and confused by people in management. Corporate politics are full of delicate egos and precariously balanced positions of power. I am extremely grateful for this book and its help in my career. Thank you, Robert Green!

In 2017, I distilled 48 Sonnets of Power (unpublished) from the 48 Laws. Thank you Robert Greene for the role you play in my life, I would've been lost in this wide wild world without your guide.

Maybe 40 out of the 48 are just my personality anyway! Started thinking maybe I’m a psychopath lol.. but I feel like I win in life the only difference is my power resides at the bottom! I am the top of the bottom and I’m happy with it. I seem to get what I want when I need it and I’ve always felt like the universe favours me above all.. they call me king Henry

Personally I'm not a fan of using power to benefit myself but I understand that it isn't the game others play either subconsciously or Consciously.
The book has helped me understand WHEN someone is using power so that I may plan/strategize accordingly.
When he says "this is defense" is certainly hitting the nail on the head.
As a result, I've made good friend with distance. And enemies whom need more distance.
    We love Robert Green.

This book does one of two things... 1) It gives the confused egomaniac a blueprint to so-called 'power'. 2) Coincidently, this book can help identify individuals that would apply these practices in certain aspects of life. You can observe the lessons in this book in areas like prison, organized crime, business, and government.

I’ve seen a lot of people call the book “evil” and that’s just crazy. I’m a devout Christian and find this book most valuable and not a shred of “evil” in it. What it does, is speak directly toward human nature and makes you more aware. For those that are more on the religious end it will absolutely help you guide through life in a way that will foster success while also keeping your values and morales (whatever those may be) as your guardrails.
I love the book because it’s direct and objective and then you can figure out how to apply it to your own life.
It’s not “an evil book that teaches you to do bad things”. It’s data, explained well and you apply it how you see fit.

“A lot of this is not about using these laws. A lot of this is about defence.” When I first listened to this audiobook my impressions of it was “this is a self-help book for sociopaths”. Perhaps it may have framed these lessons better. Instead of saying “this is what you should do” on certain chapters such as Crush Your Enemies the lesson could have been “Your Enemies will try to Crush You. Here’s what to Watch For.” This is how, as I remember Robert Greene framed his lessons in the superb Laws of Human Nature. Regardless how you feel about 48 Laws of Power The Laws of Human Nature is a must read. Also check out Mastery. While I have mixed feelings about 48 Laws, it has been 8 years since I listened to it and would be open to revisiting it. Also, congratulations on your recovery from your stroke, Mr. Greene.

This book is amazing to be honest. And it truly made me see a whole new layer of reality. I can deduce and predict situations, I can see who people actually are instead of believing the mask they give to the world - you're able to see behind the mask. Similar to Dantes from Count of Monte Christo who had to deduce what happened to him - who betrayed him, how did he end up in prison. And there are many moments like this in our life, and this book - 48 Laws of Power - gives you the tools to see who are the enemies in your life pretending to be your friends, and because you're able to recognize them, you're less likely to get backstabbed by them.

Robert I hate to say this but I've literally been sitting on your book since about 2012. So 10 or 11 years I have been in possession of The 48 Laws of Power. The day I bought it a good friend of mine said "You don't want that, it's a not a book for someone good like you" ( I dont remember the exact words but the gist and feeling is there).
I've been eyeballing your book as I've; moved from house to house, from state to state, and from job to job on my bookshelf. Telling myself I should read that; and that one memory pops up and I get distracted and do something else or read another book. But I always tell myself the same thing I did the day I bought your book. Which was "This is going to be more than useful when I crack it open".
So I guess what I'm saying is in an honor of your 25th anniversary of your publishing it I swear upon my health that I am going to begin and finish reading your book by the end of 2023.
It's crazy I've clocked countless hours of watching and listening to you on several podcasts talking but still never opened up the book.
Here's to the 25th anniversary year, of the 48 Laws of POWER, being the biggest and best year of sales so far!!!

Reading 48 laws of power & its stories from history is enjoyable & learning experience.....but real benefit will come when u apply these laws in your life like always say less than necessary thats difficult to practice but is profound ✨️ or u save yourself from thoso who are using some of these laws on u without even reading this book...to be cautious. Applying these laws & lessons contained in them will definately lead to self growth ✨️🕉👍

This book drastically helped me with understanding for myself and my clients better. I highly recommended here. I also recommend reading the laws of human nature by Robert as well. It's a great book that really opened me up to my Shadow characteristics and those of others around me. It made me more a more empathetic person.

My favorite part once I read the book for the first time was the preface. Then “think as you like but behave like others” was another favorite of mine. I notice even children play power games. I can see it with my niece and nephew.

Thank you Robert. Finally a summary for you. Although we would love a sumamry for each of the 48 laws(I do hope you make a summary of it in the future one day if ever for each law in one video. I know it would have a lot of views). This short one is enough and enlightening more from your words. I do suggest to people reading this if you never like Robert Greene and even after this video you still wont read the 48 Laws of Power, the I highly suggest his book “Laws of Human Nature” one of the best books if not his best book among all the others he has written. It has a part about power in one of the chapters but perceived as one of the Laws of Human nature, Law of Defensiveness and Law of Covetiousness and also Law of Envy and Law of Self-Sabotage.
Robert Greene, hope you stay happy and healthy and well. You should mention more that before you wrote the 48 Laws books you actually experience both in reading history books and in person thru your various jobs such Laws. That actually gives more credit to the book being just “ideas on paper” or not real or just imaginative. Power is truly part of human nature otherwise we wont have such things called politics both in the office or in the global economy. Power is truly everywhere even in the family unit there is power struggles. Children try to vy for the attention (power) of their parents and when neglected often search for other sources of power as they grow older in other people or projects

I developed a proficiency in a highly specialized field. I became one of those irreplaceable workers. It doesn’t bring happiness, its fing exhausting. I am always being called, asked to travel to other locations and have an endless backlog. People see my position and then claim they want to “help me and learn about the field”, but they never want to put in the necessary work. They want gain without pain and usually punch out after a few months of a job that takes about 5 years to master.

When he mentioned, "Whether I'm correct or mistaken, regardless of the market's fluctuations, it doesn't affect me," I found it perplexing. Many individuals are experiencing significant financial losses in the current environment. Personally, I've been investing in stocks since the beginning of the year, yet my situation hasn't improved. Meanwhile, I've come across stories of people who are still in the same market but have managed to make over $350,000 in just a few months. It's a challenging situation out here!

I think that most of the readers of this book are the well natured people. And i think that because these types of people have experinced many traumatizing events throughtout their life. So, they have the need to see what they are doing wrong and this book can be a very good instructor to that. Malevolent people are too busy applying their shady tactics decribed iit the book, thus narcissists and egoists think that they don't have the need to educate themselves. So, power is an excellent piece of work for those who seek maintaining their phychological stability with their interpesonal and professional interactions.
