In discussing his cocaine and alcohol addiction, John talks about growing up on a council estate and feeling as if he didn't fit in. After initially finding security working in the armed forces, John's drug taking put paid to a potentially promising career.
John recounts his father's struggle with addiction and the impact his father's death had upon him. He discusses his previous relationship insecurities and how self-sabotage played a part in their failure.
John talks about juggling parenting with satisfying his addictions and about not being present as a result.
Ultimately rehab set John on the path to sobriety and he talks about enjoying a happy and productive life in recovery and starting a family with his new partner.
