    This kind of running race analysis is incredibly useful. Ive made so many dumb Decisions out there costing me the podium so really good to explore the options you discuss. Cheers

    Start racing on east coast end of next month. These make me excited to begin a new year.

    Great videos to learn whilst training Has Chad thought about doing a full Real time video for s&c or stretching etc to accompany the great training plan Also Nate doing Baxter and eating of course

    NorCal cycling did the Cal Aggie P/1/2. That is well worth a watch! @Jonathan Lee do a comparison with his ride?

    Enjoyed it, very insightful. Was the HR accurate tho?

      lavitadolce nope :( . I had HRM issues during this race. Max is about 190 and threshold is around 174. This is a good example of why I never look at heart rate during my races - I would have freaked out! Hehe

    Trainerroad. Any chance you could do a bumping drills/familiarity riding close 101 video?

    "...and so I attacked!" I have done this race many times, attacking before the chicane is always a honey pot. It's just so much longer than you think from there to the finish. No one leads through that section and wins the race.

    Your HF is crazy low in that sprint! Is your max HF also that low, or did you go into the race with a low of fatigue?

    • @TrainerRoad
      @TrainerRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks like the heart rate monitor wasn't reading correctly for this race :(
      Jonathan's HR max is 192 and threshold is 172ish.

      Brian Faulconer that’s the plan 👍

  • @mitchellsteindler

    It's easy to race smart when you're faster than almost every ody there. It's far more comfortable to create gaps and let people fill in when you know you could close the gap if nobody comes around. If you dont have the fitness, you have to be ready to lose the race when using tactics like this. Maybe I'm wrong though.

    • @JonathanLee7
      @JonathanLee7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mitchell Steindler Yeah, you’re right. The opposite is also true though. It’s easy to race foolishly when you are relatively strong. That’s why taking a critical look at your performances is such a useful thing to do. 👍

    bro, either your HR monitor is jacked or you're a cyborg (140 bpm on bell lap!) ;-)

    • @TrainerRoad
      @TrainerRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The HRM wasn't reading correctly. Jonathan's max is around 190.

      Jonathan Orf right under the saddle with a K-Edge saddle rail mount 👍

    That’s speedometer was really wacky!

    • @JonathanLee7
      @JonathanLee7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      luisma99 It’s GPS-based, so I think it was due to the really tight turn and the trees.

    • @kidsafe
      @kidsafe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonathanLee7 Having a GoPro mounted directly underneath a computer also introduces just enough interference to be annoying. It's worse with Wahoo ELEMNTs than Garmin Edge units. Since your GPS track is pretty tight, I'm assuming you're using a Garmin!

    amazing... first guy I see that his HR gets lower as he starts pushing 450 W... strange

    • @TrainerRoad

      The HR data was not coming through properly on this video unforunately :(

    • @stallwarning13
      @stallwarning13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TrainerRoad I'm glad to hear that. I was fixated on the heart rate number the entire video, trying to figure out what other hobbies I could try to get good at since it looked like all hope was lost for cycling. If you swap watts and heart rate on this video it looks a lot more like my numbers.

    Shouldn’t he have sprinted through the finish

    • @TrainerRoad

      Jonathan Lee completely unstable. it’s hard to see when someone’s tank is empty a specially when you have a super smart cyclist like you who knows how to keep a straight face.fantastic job and awesome podcasts too. I watch all of them in school.

    Having a commentary on a group ride this is a joke right ? To be considered a race on flat course average speed have to be 30: to 35 miles an hour the rest are just commute rides

      @@onebadsquirrel You aren't a very good sprinter then. My leadout is always over 70mph.
