@@GunGodYV I got some reviews and retrospectives in the works, but I’m pretty busy right now so I don’t know when they will come out. Overall though I have almost too many ideas for videos, which is a good thing.
My personal favorite cheesy game series has to be Yakuza, one of the best goofy games that knows how and when to take itself seriously without being jarring
That's the game I had in mind when clicking that video! On one hand your kyodai cries because he wants to kill you, so your clan wouldn't torture you On another hand, you help a kid buy a porn magazine and you're ashamed that ladies will see you doing it
This guy sounds like the type who uploads a 2 hour retrospective every few months, disappears and repeats until he gets a few hundred thousand subscribers.
I call Resident Evil “Hollywood horror” cuz of all the happy ending they have and the fact that they manage to make “the final boss is so powerful you need a plot weapon dropped in at the last second” not get old
I enjoyed that Doom Eternal went in a goofier direction with all the characters knowing hes overpowered as hell, but still acting serious while the Slayer just does whatever he wants to.
it's absolutely absurd how powerful Doomguy is, yet it works just fine for his character being taken fairly seriously (but he still does some fucking hilarious shit like launching himself out of a cannon meant for like, orbital strike sort of things)
I highly recommend playing the other Devil May Cry games. All the games do an amazing job of balancing awesome gameplay and story. The story is actually very developed when you look into the lore and there’s a lot of fun/compelling things about it. Such as Vergil’s depressing mentality and Dante’s own grief. I also started DMC with the 5th game and once I played the others everything made a lot more sense and the crazy aspects were more clear. Obviously it’s still fun and cheesy, but the other elements become more apparent. The gameplay is obviously great as well in the other games to. DMC4 in particular is very fun.
Devil May Cry 5's story is good, and does make sense. But that's only if you played the other games... it's literally the fifth game I'm not sure what he was expecting tbh.
I really enjoy the goofy natures of Deep Rock Galactic, they have such cheesy space dwarf characters who spit out so many lines of reference after media reference. Or just various funny lines about their job or when killing bugs. It's just mean to be a fun co-op shooter to play with friends and it absolutely nails this due to the efforts they made into the exaggerated nature of the capitalist corporation that's more about profit than the safety of these dwarves. It did lead the the infamously fun "rock and stone" mindset in the community as a nice little way to have fun with even little moments :)
@@Tihshoo DRG is a fun game because it has deep strategy in a game with dwarves mining in a hostile wilderness. :D It also has what is apparently the E-vile machinations of space elves? 'cause that stuff is tech but it's not DWARF tech.
DMC truly works best when it embraces its cheesiness. Dante leaning hard into his inner gay cowboy while doing his MJ dance is just impossible not to love. Also, the memes from DMC5 is gold, especially when SE came out.
absolutely LOVE silly games. the dmc series, yakuza series, and mgrr are 100% all my favourite games/series because of just how stupid they are. love this!!!!
If you like Devil May Cry, there's a good chance you'll like the Bayonetta series as well. It's also made by Hideki Kamiya and his team, so its similarly crazy, over the top, and full of style. You play as a time travelling witch who uses her hair and gun stilletoes to kill angels and ancient gods, and possibly has the best rendition of Fly Me to the Moon to date. It's an amazing time!
DMC5 melds the story and gameplay very well, the character playstyle and charactarization are congruous in such a way that no other game has, one of the best ways of using gameplay as a story tool plus the entire game is built solely for the climax, even limiting a tool for it to be unleashed only for one mission (at least on one playthrough)
My favorite cheesy game is probably Sleeping Dogs which is basically a True Crime/Yakuza game but I never played neither of those things so I played Sleeping Dogs instead. And having a balance between a serious story and killing someone with a sword fish just struck the perfect cord with me.
Only the 5th??!!! Get on em!! Great video. Love and blessings. My fave goof is deadly premonition 2. Honorable mention for ninja gaiden, not really a goof but ridiculous.
Checked the "videos" tab on the Chanel expecting a lot of stuff and was surprised to see this is the first one, seeing how much quality it is. Hoping to see a lot more fron this Chanel in the future, subscribe!
Another series that totally embraces the cheesiness is the Hitman games. 47 is a stone cold assassin, but never shies away from having a little fun like playing the drums for a band audition with his signature stiff posture. Or talking in assassination metaphors in a total deadpan delivery that is completely hilarious given the context. And there is the mechanical goofiness like the heat seeking briefcase. Trying to make videogame stories and settings into Oscar bait movies is a disservice to the medium and reflects on lack of respect and understanding to what makes the medium great.
Granted DMC 5’s story was supposed to tie points from its previous games, being the 5th game, while MGRR is considered its own story outside the Metal Gear series
Everytime I saw someone compliment other games for being cinematic masterpiece, or having "mature" tone. It's really frustrate me, because what's wrong with being video game? What's wrong with a game that its story being deadweight son helping his deadbeat dad fighting his addiction by beating the shit out of him. What's wrong with having the greatest moment in the cut scene then switch to extremely wacky woohoo gameplay? Devil May Cry is very mature and self aware. like in the dr.faust dance for example. Dante mocks Donte for calling him a gay cowboy by actually being a gay cowboy, and now what you gonna do?
I completely agree. When Games embrace their absurdity in certain ways, rather than being too serious and uptight, they most of the time are hindered by that approach. I love creative games that make you think yet also are comfortable with embracing their goofiness. (Even tho RDR2 was a technical achievement, I found myself massively not enjoying or caring about the game but I still to this day Love "Red Dead Revolver" even tho it's such a older game, I think it's a great video game with well crafted Creativity. (Man I miss Halo 1-3) lastly I wish someone would create new MMA video games in all sorts of different types of styles, art styles, gameplay mechanics, physics effects, etc. There is so much potential to make such exciting over the top MMA games that just hook the player with rewarding gameplay physics. I hope video game creators really start to realize and find that certain things will be massively successful. It's not all about the best graphics, ray tracing, online multiplayer battle pass battle royal nonsense. Hopefully gaming will get a second wave of amazing creative passion projects where devs were willing to take risks and break the molds. It was so successful for them back in the early 90's-2000-2010's era. We need to get that back.

Tbh, if you find MGR cheesy and convoluted, you REALLY should play the rest of the MGS series. MGR is, like, the most straightforward thing that came out of the Metal Gear franchise. Entry-level cheesiness and convolution. Another series that’s so intentionally chessy to its core is Yakuza. Goofy-ass stuff is so ingrained into its DNA that I can’t even begin to describe the scale of it
