Marty has a lot of little details that a lot of people seem to miss or just skip over. This is one of the only two videos I've come across over the years that nails this solo as good as Friedman's original work.

Damn!!! Very well done. This solo is so hard even Marty has trouble with it. Such artistic greatness! Even note for note reproduction will never perfectly match the actual human touch in the moment and moment/recording. That is how the gift of music is supposed to be 😉

Its pretty hard to replicate that relaxed gypsy jazzy feel in the arpeggios and bends, a lot of players including myself dont add in a lot of the intricate leading notes either before some of the bends. And that last few bars is the part that usually gets glossed over. Bradley got it nailed though
@@goldenbdogg4880 I would know because from 15 to 18 I played 4 to 8 hours a day as much as I could. I should have been out enjoying life learning things like being a plumber or learn a trade but instead I stared at a piece of wood with strings on it.

I was absolutely, 100%, totally convinced that 0:29 was tremolo picked. It's not. You can hear the pick if you slow it down! But, I don't think it's strummed like that? It sounds like it's pick-pick-slide pick-slide pick-slide...
I used to think it was tremelo-picked too! But if you slow the recording to half-speed you can hear it's actually octaves. The 2 octave notes being slightly out of phase is what makes it sound a bit like it's tremlo-picked. Plus Marty plays it live like that too which is a bit of a giveaway haha
I wish the Birdseye maple was as profound on my RG5120M. As it is on yours. Evertime i grab mine the tones inspires me to play 80s rock and metal. Especially Megadeath 🤘

Try letting your pinky and ring fimger on your strummimg hand dangle loose like. Gives your hand an airiness and makes the tremolo strain your wrist less.
Do you think this is the correct picking pattern at 0:42? I've seen so many pros doing small sweeps between the two strings, as opposed to vigorously picking like that.

@@HorseloverFat1984hear tornado of souls then hear strength beyond strength and get back to me. megadeth is amazing but thrash metal is fast, aggressive, abrasing and angry. megadeth only has speed. Mustaine's vocals are very VERY rock-like (many of their songs have rock lyrics, especially mechanix🤮 ), the solos aren't aggressive at all except for maybe the one at the opening of headcrusher (which is probably their only actual metal song). I'm not a Metallica fan either however Metallica has some really dark themes and hetfield's vocals sound powerful and loud. Pantera is just on another level in terms of aggressiveness and Cannibal Corpse, its not even a fair comparison. Smells like teen spirit is a rock song and even that is more aggressive than most megadeth songs which is a "heavy metal" band.
My favorite cover is from Babysaster, her playing is just so pristine, I recommend everyone to check it out (and probably be inspired even more, or crushed to bits, depending on your guitar self-esteem).
People say its the best solo ever but forget Dave wrote an amazing song that flows really nicely and keeps its speed rolling thru and after the solo is over like a celebration after the solo. Dave is amazing at writing and so is Marty. But the two song writers here made it all work.

I would love to see you learn the Killing Road. It is one of those Marty solos I believe is on par with Tornado of Souls
