- This is something that you can do now for more stock video sales. I was looking for stock video footage on Envato Elements and I realized that there are over 750,000 clips from Blackbox contributors. Out of all of those clips, very few of them feature people - or as I call them: models with releases.
I don't have a lot of this footage, yet still 20-30 percent of my total sales are of me and my wife or other family members doing things. There is a huge part of the market that you are missing out on if you are not doing model shoots.
Additionally, Blackbox (for those of you who are members) has made it very quick and easy for models to sign up. They don't have to create or submit a reel or anything. They can just sign up as a model and start earning a percentage of your sales.
Also, be sure you tap into a genre that you have access to. For me, its retirement, senior couple, senior lifestyle, etc. For you it will be whoever (even yourself) that you have access to. Start with yourself if you have to. But do it and you will see results. Make sure every concept is simple and clear. Shoot 10-20 second segments of simple action.

I think most creators are younger. Being in your 50s is an asset for you to use as there are fewer clips and a huge aging population worldwide that is being targeted in media. Look at all the commercials targeting your generation. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

I've started 2 years ago making Stock images and I do ONLY lifestyle. I've made a reel to apply to BB and it was approved in 3 hours!! So I'm starting uploading my first 700 videos all with released people in them. Let's see... Thanx for your very cool video!! We need more like that! Salud from Argentina!

I curated clips with Asian model you mentioned, that Thai guy is earning a lot for a reason
Jade has a large group of beautiful models. He stopped doing stock video. He is busy managing pageants and fashion photography. You did a great job with that model because she is about 80% of the top 100 clips.
Nice. I saw one of my recent clips there which is actually my first clip with a model release (my dauther) 😀I think they put a group of new videos from the user at the top of the page, and I guess they could give priority to clips with model releases.
That’s a good observation. I do know that when I have projects that a need clips for, I only download BB clips. If I am looking for wildlife, nature, travel, etc. no problem. I have many excellent clips to choose from. But if I am looking for a woman jogging, for example, there are often none (of whatever I am searching for). As a group, we need to fill in some of these holes in our collective portfolio. Thanks for watching and hope your clips can generate some good income for you.
I have hundreds if not thousands of clips with models that I hired. Still I wouldn't say that they sell more than other clips. And the clips are professional ones shot with an amazing camera and lens and different actions and niches.
You probably have more experience than 99% of us on BB. Any suggestions for us? The thing they strikes me is that I might have only 200 out of 6,000 clips and those 200 are 20-30% of my sales. It could be that “senior lifestyle” clips are a good niche that I stumbled into.
@@boycefitzgerald yes, I think the most important thing is the niche. Senior people doing different actions seems to be a great subject. Still, I wouldn't say I have much more experience than you with stock. I just have shot quite a lot of model clips :D
@@billijsc Thanks for helping us all. These comments help people find their path. A guy I curate for has a few and they sell now and then. But I think you need to find a concept that is clear. My wife had a nail salon. I have a lot of clips of that as I have made facebook commercials for her. They never sell. But if I film me and her roasting marshmallows, it sells over and over. It is a strange business.

Good points. I have a few model stock shots but it's less 5% of my 2000+ clips. I have used myself as a model a few times. This has inspired me to get some model shots. Btw, how does your wife feel about being widow? ;)
And congrats on the weight loss.
I told her that I wanted her to express sadness and being lonely, one time. I told her these are “widow” shots. She didn’t laugh. She is very supportive of me and likes the extra income which we use to travel, so she is supportive.
But yeah, it is kind of funny.

Hey i just discovered your channel ! Great tips !!! Just a quick question if you dont mind : this video is two weeks old and i just type "senior couple" and i get 24394 videos....we are far from 690 clips... what do you think ?

Out of over 83,785 clips of senior man - only 690 of them are from Blackbox creators. We should have the majority like we do in other genres like drone, landscape, wildlife, and time lapse. Proportionally, Blackbox is underrepresented in high quality model shoots/clips.
If you are not part of Blackbox, I would still encourage you to research specific types of clips and fill in those gaps. If you looked for senior couples doing a specific activity - dancing, bbq, cycling, camping - find specific things you can film and see what the competition is. If you can provide better clips or different options, you will sell clips.
