  • This is a stock video sales and trends report as of October 2023.
    Surprisingly, I think that reframed 360 videos are a viable option for selling clips with an interesting perspective. In this report, I show examples of clips that have sold and the kinds of clips that sell. Clips about the environment and establishing shots continue to be good earners for me.
    I hope this information is helpful and that you found some value.
    If you have any interest in creating and selling stock video or pictures, please consider subscribing to this channel.
    In my next video, I'll show you how to edit and submit vertical videos.
    Have a nice day and drop me a note if you have any tips, questions, or just want to say hi.

    Thanks again for sharing. I have seen a decent dip in my royalty sales but, like you, my subscription sales are up. Have you sold many cellphone clips. I only have a handful of clips up and zero sales.

      I had an old smartphone until recently. Since I got the iPhone 14pro, the clips really look good especially in the cinematic mode. I have sold some and believe I will sell even more. When you are shooting, also do a vertical shot here and there. It’s not a lot of sales but that could change and if that becomes popular, you will be ahead of everyone else.

    Thank you for the video. I couldn't find the donation button, possibly because you're not yet monetized. Regarding the DJI Mini Pro 4 for creating stock footage, is it a solid choice, especially if wind resistance isn't a concern? The 70mm lens on the DJI Air 3 could offer more shot variety, but the wide-angle lens on the Mini Pro 4 might suffice. Your thoughts?

    • @boycefitzgerald
      @boycefitzgerald  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The DJI mini is plenty good for stock video. It is probably the best deal out there - even the older versions as long as they shoot 4k. It’s a great option. I’ve not flown the Air 3. I did have the air 2 and it got me plenty of sales. The mini series also have an advantage of being more discrete.
      You are correct, I am not monetized. Thanks for watching and supporting me!

    No need to apologise for having personal dealings right? We appreciate your video's! Sometimes I hop in for these video's because they offer an interesting insight. Can I ask how you get permission to film in a chicken barn for example? Did you just ask them? Or was it work related that you passed there?
    I'm asking because where I live I think they're not too welcoming to people filming in these kind of locations.

      My friend in Latvia (Kaspars Daleckis) in Latvia did that clip (I labeled it as such in the video). He does a lot of gig work: construction, industry, time lapses. He’s a professional. He also lives in the countryside farming community. I would have to ask him. He is on BB and very active on the Facebook page. I’ll ask him. I do some curation/ keywording for him.
      Thanks for watching.

    Hello Boyce, how many clips do you have uploaded to date?

    • @boycefitzgerald
      @boycefitzgerald  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      6,588 - I started with no experience in 2018. I have a few friends who make more with far fewer clips. The number of clips, subject, and quality all impact what you make per upload. As you can see, I’m making over $1 dollar per year per upload. Good luck. Hope this helps.

    I am having over 700 clips now and cant seem to get much revenue what might be the problem, I recently started actively working on the clips. Does is takes some time to pick on and get consistent sales

    • @FilmshooterOH
      @FilmshooterOH 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      A lot depends on the quality of the clips and are they in a saturated market. If you have clips with no clear vision with low technical quality with clips where there are already thousands of clips, then expect low sales. I have just over 2000 clips up and do around $450-475 per month in sales. I use 4k cameras and drones. I do try to research before I shoot to make sure there are not a ton of clips of what I'm planning already. For example: Ducks in a lake. There are thousands of those so unless you have the most beautiful shots, they will most likely not sell. Meanwhile, you havce a clown eating a peanut butter and bannana sandwich there are probably only a few clips of that.

    • @boycefitzgerald
      @boycefitzgerald  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I had about 300 clips online before I got a single sale. I had never done video and my clips were awful so you might have better luck. But, yes, it takes a lot of clips and a lot of time before you have consistent sales. This is about time, number of clips, and quality. You are probably doing better than you think. I put in 10 hours a week and focus on quality. If you do that, the sales will come in and build over time.

    Stills, time lapse and videos; there must be different prices agencies pay for esh category... can I ask how big are they how big are the price differences?...thanks!

    • @boycefitzgerald
      @boycefitzgerald  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Each agency has a different price scheme. There are also licensing costs so that if the buyer uses it for a large commercial project then you get a big commission. Then there are agencies that have unlimited downloads so you get small amounts but more often. If you just want to go with one agency - I think the best is Adobe Stock. They seem to be the best for the creator. But they don’t take editorial. I just upload to Blackbox and they repackage them for all the agencies. That way I get all kinds of sales from top to bottom - high and low. I don’t worry about the agencies or dealing with them and I only upload one time and they do the rest.

    Are you also noticing a big drop for individual clips? Lately, I've been getting something between 5-10 dollars for new clips (4k) that are only uploaded a month. All those discounts and subs are ruining the market terribly

    • @boycefitzgerald
      @boycefitzgerald  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I address this somewhat. The discount and sub sales mean a lot less per sale but, at least for me, more profit overall. In this video, use April 2023 as an example. I had $326 in individual sales and $483 sales from subscription and discount sales. It was my highest month ever. It might be a race to the bottom and, like you, I am concerned. But so far the results have been more money in my pocket. Of course, it is possible that we would be making more money if discount and subscriptions were not an option. There is plenty of room for concern in the future of stock video, for sure.

    • @blackink2979
      @blackink2979 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@boycefitzgerald the problem is that if we don't agree to sell subs and discounts, then buyers will choose a clip from another sale because the market is currently flooded.
      Personally, I think it's poorly set up and there shouldn't be an option to buy a fresh clip on sale for a tiny fraction of the actual price.
      Just recently I sold a clip with a model and a signed release for about 4.50. The clip was about twenty days old. It's a mockery. Blackbox should fight more for its users.
      Instead, almost any of my "obnoxious" questions are immediately rejected or deleted. It also bothers me that we won't find out which clips were sold where and which clips are part of the packages. The non-transparency of BB is something why I no longer recommend this platform to friends.

    I made money via “ SUBSCRIPTION “ what does that mean ??

    • @boycefitzgerald
      @boycefitzgerald  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are different kinds of sales. The agencies you clips are on can sell individual clips. They also sell discount packs which means they can sell 5 clips for $100, for example. If one of the clips is yours, you get $7-$10. They also sell subscriptions. In that case, the buyer might pay $200 a month for a subscription in which they can download many clips. Those sales are reported at the end of the month and for me, that adds up to $150-$300 more in profit each month.
