    There's only one mistake. Trying to become a step family. If you're ready for years of abuse and being told just take it, then go right on ahead. That life is waiting for you as a step parent.

      Same for step kids. I think when there's rules like "prioritize the marriage" or "prioritize the kids" and everything goes to shit. EVERYONE needs attention, EVERYONE needs to adapt to each other. Any other way it won't work.

      @@mossaaitmassoud6595 I don't mind the siblings part. What I do mind is people having kids, breaking their families and then selfishly decide to get together with other people without researching blended families or investing in therapy. All adults do is get together, go have fun and order the kids around without minding how they might feel

    I've just moved together and now I'm a stepmom. 17 days on this saga and I'm so glad I found you guys at the beginning of this adventure! I feel so scared because I don't have kids on my own and it's my first time living this kind of experience. Thank you so much for your advices. I'm gonna watch these videos with my boyfriend because I want to start this blended family in the right way. God bless you all.

    One thing people need to realize that if you had kids from your previous marriage and you worked so hard to provide for them for their future and you had kids because you wanted offspring that goes down the tube when you remarry that new spouse we'll take everything and your kids will be left with nothing! And half-siblings don't always consider themselves as full siblings I've seen this happen and oh you're just a stepchild in the home or you're just a half-sibling you're not a real family member don't talk to this person don't talk to that person life is hell when you're a stepchild and the effects last through the rest of their life the child suffers the entire existence it's a death sentence you lose your parents and you don't get the same comfort the step parent thinks automatically when the kid is 18 they're out on their own they get kicked out that's not the case people say for money they save their money for a home they don't move out till they're 25 most of the time today and they come back and they come back with grandchildren these are the things the step parents have to also consider and having kids with a huge age difference there's no relationship there! Nobody wants a sister 25 years younger than them the generational gap between children one becomes very old school and if the death of a parent happens is it an obligation for your child of a previous marriage to take those kids in and be burdened with them? What about abuse issues where the stepfather abuses the kids or tries to divide the Bayou parent between the children jealousy disinheritance losing everything including their baby photos I really believe if a man and woman comes first you wouldn't have a second relationship. Put your kids first because they were there before the relationship if you want to have a relationship find a each other but don't destroy lives

    Relationship or not if the wife cannot love the daughter or can not love the lady down the street or can not love her enemy it is all the same thing. Direct disobedience to Jesus and what he commanded us to do. He only gave us 2 commandments and if we obey the first and greatest we will obey the second that is like it.

    I'm absolutely devastated that we didn't do things the right way. If only we could rewind time and start over. Mistakes were made due to ignorance, disinterest and complacency in our step parenting. Now we're seeing the results. Kids leaving for reasons of disconnection with the step parent.
    It takes study, intentionality, humility and action by both. I really wish there was a support group, like there are for other groups in the community, here in Adelaide. Feeling very isolated.

    • @FamilyLifeBlended
      @FamilyLifeBlended  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so sorry you are feeling isolated. I am sure it's frustrating thinking you could have done things differently. But it is never too late to start doing the right thing. Being intentional in your relationships can have benefits even now. It won't be easy and it may take a long time but hopefully, the kids will eventually see your effort. Please email us at blended@familylife.com with your exact location and we'll check if we know anyone in your area that you can connect with. We can also direct you to some virtual groups. Blessings, Nicole

    I live in North Carolina (Wayne County) and I give seminars on blended family. I do in the community/church. You can put me on the map so that people who live in Wilson, Rocky Mount, Goldsboro, Mt. Olive, Faison or surrounding areas can come and join in on the discussion.

    That is so nasty to have kids 20 years apart when they're out in public or is that your grandkids are you the father or are you the mother know I'm the sister on the brother I wouldn't want to have a sister my mom age! People should think about this and inheritance issues too.

    Biological mothers 21 year old daughter hates me and has told mother that if we stay together she will no longer talk to her and will not come to the wedding. Biological mother has realized But after breaking up with me that that was the biggest mistake she ever made and wants to get back together again. I told her she needs to settle this between her and her daughter and was wondering if there’s any advice you can give.
