      @Killsnapz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      absolutely funny that both Lindor and Baez were all "it's cool bro" when they were both standing within feet of Stanton and alone. Then once Stanton is safely tucked away in the dugout and they have the whole team around them then there are like "bring it on bro!" I would have loved to see Stanton make his way back over in front of Lindor or Baez after they were talking shit. These two were the poster boys for "hold me back bro!" on that play. The Yankee's are the last team you want to get to brawling with. Judge, Stanton, Gallo, Voit all are some big boys.

    • @Killsnapz
      @Killsnapz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      @@TopTally5 you just watched a 15 minute video breaking down ever pitch showing no conclusive evidence of cheating and your reply is "well if the Yankee's didn't cheat it would not have been that way? BTW if a pitcher is tipping his pitches and the other team picks up on it no one in MLB considers it cheating either. It's called doing a poor job of pitching. Your job as a pitcher is to disguise your pitches or make the same pitch appear different.

    • @chriswilder9719
      @chriswilder9719 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      I wouldn't. Stadiums are loud, you have a hard time hearing the person next to you. Players have to yell and mouth things to each other. I would expect a manager to know the difference between gaining an advantage and not yet the cardinals manager doesn't know the difference to the point he held up a game over a grand slam. The same manager who bitched about pitchers being checked because it would hold up the game and he viewed it as an insult to his pitchers. Players and managers don't know the difference between things. They don't have super hearing. If anything the cameras are picking up sounds the players can't hear due to all of the noise

    • @livewiiiiire
      @livewiiiiire 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I also think you would be able to hear if it was coming from the dugout, from any infield position anyway. Pitch/catch/1st especially

    • @livewiiiiire
      @livewiiiiire 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think what might help the "cheating whistle" case is seeing if this exact clear whistle is heard at other fields and stadiums. I trust the players but I don't have an opinion on it really, we'll see where this goes, if anywhere. If there is cheating, I hope it stops.

    • @PaulieWalnuts1776
      @PaulieWalnuts1776 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@chriswilder9719 You hear sounds very differently on the field versus in the stands. The way sound and vibrations travel is more complex than people think, and normally audio won’t pick up anything extra but can cancel out small amounts of reverb or echo, especially when recording something electronic. It’ll also make the bass frequency harder to hear than in person, and a whistle cuts through other noise because it has a higher Hertz. The higher the hZ the smaller the decibel needed in order to hear it

    I did notice a distinct difference in the whistling patterns specifically. My theory is that someone in the yankee dugout was picking up on SOME of walkers pitches, and calling them out to his team using different patterns when he could pick up the pitch that was about to be thrown. I don't think they were able to figure out every single pitch, but I did notice the offspeed whistles were different in pitch and pattern than the whistles for a fastball. And I have been watching the mets all year, and it's not the first time other teams have been able to figure out what Walker is throwing. I've actually suspected for several games now that he had a tell on what he was throwing, and other teams were picking up on it. The Yankees however were pretty damn blatant about it and Villar is a sharp player that knows the game well so he caught onto it quick. With walker being a right handed pitcher, it wouldn't be surprising if he's not holding his glove up enough before he throws, and the open end of his glove would be facing the opposing dugout, so they could be seeing the grip on his pitches and relaying through whistles.

      The smart thing to do (and what all major league teams do) when you figure out a pitcher is tipping is tell everyone in the dugout and not let the other team know you know. It's a lot easier, and less complicated than mixing up whistle patterns and pitches.
      Pitchers change their grip in the glove before every pitch. That's high school pitching level coaching. If he's showing his grip outside of the glove he wouldn't have made it out of the minors.
      There's no rhyme or reason that you can explain between whistle vs. non whistle.
      The most common explanation is the one you eventually got to: he's tipping his pitches with body language, the Yankees picked up on it, and made him pay in the at bats... aka Baseball.

      I know the guy is an MLB pitcher but what if the whistling is a distraction tool? It seems farfetched but at the same time they could just be whistling to make him think they have his pitches. Also did the whistling stop from the second to the 7th when they didn't score a run? Could be just random or they switched up and took 5 innings to figure it out again. This is a tough one not like trash cans banging which is a unique sound for a baseball field
