It's a saturated market all producing largely the same content. Better of following Dick Cheese's lead and make videos cutting balls in half and testing quirky clubs. Or videos of a 'pro' trying to break +3.... Bigger audience. I like Dans content but there's a quadrillion guys doing largely the same thing
JAMES did one video a day for a year. So he has put alot of work in. But I agree with you Dans content is much better I'm amazed he isn't closer 100k at least. Maybe you need more a feature video like Peter has build my bag and road to open series. Rick has break 75. IONA has Chasing the red. I think that's where Rick worked well as he plays with different people alot pulling people from different channels to his page.
For me, at nearly 70yrs old, I don't hit it far enough to miss the fairway. A couple of hundred yards or so has to do. For me it's more about outside temperature and course conditions as to whether I get it up to 230yds or not. I like being in the middle of the fairway, it's very peaceful out there 😁
Just been fitted for a Callaway, liked my Epic Flash Sub Zero with a 65 gram shaft but decided it was time to make a change, I am now sporting an AI Smoke Max with a 55 gram shaft, squaring the face better, flight is better, hitting more fairways. The three wood is working as well. Of course this all could just be that new club feel but I'll roll with it while it's happening.
Enjoyed the review Dan. Back when the original stealth was released I tried it, I gained nothing over my SIM. When stealth 2 arrived, I tried that, gained average 6 yds. 6 whole yards for £550, the money stayed in my pocket 🤣. They look good of course, you can get a blue and black face for stealth 2 but I think at £1000 and USA only strictly limited numbers were immaterial. Keep up the great reviews Dan. Life after Titleist does exist 🙄
Great stuff Dan , looks a great driver , don't laugh I'm still using the M1 with a shaft I upgraded 3 years ago , I ve tried new drivers and yes I get 5 yards more but I know what results on the course I get with mine so she s become my old faithful, really looking forward to the irons your gonna choose this year ....⛳👍
I know this is late, but the face popped off my Stealth 2 Plus and my swing speed is only about 100-105mph. TM warranty is amazing though…proud owner of a new Qi10 Plus head…
I just bought an old set of Wilson 1200s off Facebook, with the matching metal woods. I also got an aeroburner with them, and all that for £50. I was using an old Callaway Epic, which I love, and works well for me, but that aeroburner went straight in the bag. I love it. It is so straight, and it's a bomber.
Excellent stuff Dan, it's always a compromise these low spin heads as you know. I am a new man Dan for 2024. I have put my persimmons and Macgregor blades in a separate golf bag for fun summer evenings on the links. I have opened my Scottish wallet and have 12 new clubs! Whole lot £1250 including a brand new driver and fairway wood, Cobra Aerojet on sale for £420 driver and 4 wood (5 wood turned down to 16.5). Bombs away on the bus tour in 2024 💣
It will be fun to see what goes in your bag now that your not obligated to Titleist. I just got fit and ordered some new irons, Mizuno 923 hot metal hl, looking for something more accurate and easier to hit than my mavriks. Can’t wait to start playing with them, it’s fun to have something that makes the game easier
I'm one of those who relate to sound/feel being part of confidence. Was same for me with tennis racquets, baseball bats, etc. They all have different feel at impact, balance, and yes, sound. Depending on various factors. I have always preferred a softer, slightly heavier than avg feel off impact, making me at least feel like the result was more down to my effort, and what I was trying to do.
I've been scouring eBay for weeks, looking for a suitably set up Stealth 2 to replace my M4. Haven't found one yet, but when I do that will be my driver for the next couple of years!
I would get the Qi10, as the Stealth 2 + face pops off. I'm on my 3rd, hoping not 4th warranty claim soon. I take the piece of mind, since they perform so similar for you.
Ironically I love the look of the original SIM driver so much I bought a used one on eBay in excellent condition and just paired it up with an EvenFlow CB 6.0 50g shaft. Excited to see how it compares with my gamer TSR3 which I was custom fit last September with a Hzdrs Red CB 6.0 50 g shaft. From what I’ve seen the original SIM was a low spin monster but I’m sure is less forgiving than my TSR3. Hitting the center of the face will most likely give me more distance than my TSR3.
The cat is out of the bag & so I look forward to seeing you tee up the new driver! Have to admit the colour / appearance of the new model is a step up from TM !
Loved the video, I changed at tail end of last year from Ping 425 Max to a Titliest TSR1. I took a while to get set up right but loving it noo. But never say never that I change to a shiny new one soon😂
Lets see a same day test for all the models Dan, would be cool to see, pick 110 best drives with each club and pick the winner! Maybe go with a combination of distance and accuracy like Club Champion do with their best of series.
I’ve been using the Callaway epic subzero driver sense it came out so I’m looking to change my hole golf bag to taylormade so I live tested both drivers separately I am hoping to buy the stealth 2 plus soon but also might weight for the qi10 to go on sale will have to test and see what I like more
Titleist were the original pear shape drivers - I used them for years because I much prefer that look. Only went to TM with the Sim 2 because they moved to the pear shape and Titleist moved away from it. Now I use the TSi1 with a stiff hand crafted shaft which gives me max forgiveness with more distance than my old Stealth 2. I'm trying hard to overcome the look but I still prefer the pear shape......
Sticking with my Ping G430 LS I havent found anything from the current crop which touches the front to back dispersion for drop offs and definitely nothing close in L2R dispersion.. for reference the A1 Smoke triple diamond was closer than others.. the one I would be interested in testing would be the PXG range.. 💥💥
Another great review Dan I do think it’s about sound and feel when testing club because I really don’t think you get the best out of them if you don’t feel right. You been testing and playing long enough to understand what is good for you. Do you feel a bit lost as you’ve been with titleist for a long time or is the feeling a bit of a refreshing one. And will you get the same in make from driver to pw
I recently went for a fitting, the driver that looked the best and sounded the best I did not go with, plain and simple looks and sound do not always equate to best performance. Oddly enough I don't hear the sound when I hit a driver, but I can hear it when someone in my group does, so I prefer the others in my group to have good sounding ones, mine I don't care 😂😂🤣🤣
Great video Dan, really interesting. Currently gaming a Callaway Mavrik which I guess is a tad old tech now so might well have to have a hit with the new models
I’ve just replaced my mavrik which has been super reliable as a fairway finder with a qi10 max which is a much more stable head and gave me 10 yards more carry.
The problem that the average golfer has though Dan is that they are not allowed to take a driver away to test under course conditions and have to make a decision on "dry" results ie indoors....it would be more than helpful if stores would allow you to take drivers, irons etc away for at least a couple of weeks so that you have a better idea if things suit ... equipment is so expensive to be making an on the spot decision....🌟🎊🥳🤩
I don't consider myself a Titleist guy, but my driver is the TSi1, currently I have it set at c3, but I have been tinkering with it. This is my first foray into adjustable hosels, so that's been fun. After your previous video I would have thought you were going to hit a PXG driver. As always, cheers from Texas, Dan. Carry on.🤠⛳🏌️🎸
G’Day Dan, being a free agent so to speak , would be a great time to really experiment with more OEM’s. Look forward to seeing what you end up with. All Good.
Another great video Dan just got one question on the stealth v Qi10 head to head. Why didn’t you use the same shaft in both heads for a more equal test 🤔🤔🤔
How about a few scrambles pairs, with the likes of James Ruth, Joe the Pro, Gilly and the rest of the guys. All your subscribers enjoy decent playing so maybe that would help grow your channel. It doesnt have to be anywhere too expensive, make the courses accessable without having to remortgage our houses 😂. There are lots of courses in Bristol and the surrounding areas that are not above £100 per man. Just a thought
Have you checked against the Qi10 Max or Core? I've seen several now who had a Stealth 2+, thinking LS straight away and ending up getting better numbers in the Core or Max version? There's a youtuber who had the same experience. ChrisRyan, hit's it a little further and faster than you and ended up with a Max
Prices these days are too high to buy new drivers every year or two. There isn't that much difference in performance either, so I'm sticking with what I have for another year.
Drivers seem to get longer and longer every year. Many are at 45.75” these days. Do you go with the standard length shaft or do you prefer a custom length? ⛳️
I kind of figured that's why you did it Dan, my point was only that may have accounted for the slightly slower ball speed with the qi because of the cg being heel side. Keep up the good work, glad to see you able to put what's best for your game in the bag this year.
Ahem..."Successor", not "Predecessor". If it makes you feel any better, I hate me too. 👍 Joking aside, this is exactly the downside to club deals for people doing reviews...something properly works for you, and you're prevented from using it. Seeing someone put it in the bag is the ultimate review.
It’s a shocking state of affairs when you are asked to spend £500 on a premium driver but one of your thoughts being it might break. Almost unbelievable, a bit like the paint job on their putters.
TaylorMade has never backed their product quality. I would never use any of there products because of this. I've had several of there clubs over the years and all have had some quality issue that they wouldn't resolve. Never again.
Drivers haven't really changed in 15 years. Other than the shaft getting longer which is no good for amatuers at all. Plus Pros. Many Tour Pros use a 44 inch shaft! But you know youtube is now a window for manufacturers to win the 'youtube gorilla max length war' hence the 46 inch shaft. In reality you have drivers with low spin and drivers with high spin. People who have fast swing speeds who know how to launch a driver properly can use a low spin head and shaft. The rest of us should leave them alone. I've seen guys with 92mph swing speed using low spin drivers and their carry has gone. Ball goes to ground 20 yards shorter than their previous driver. But they have been sold the dream. Better off spending £250 on 6 lessons and hit some damn fairways with what you have.
