Thanks so much for this. Went out to day and put in to practice. Hit six out of six fairways with driver and long. Applied to fairway woods and similar results. Mates all impressed and won the scramble. I don't have a full swing but this width gained me distance as well as consistent. I'm 66 and smacked it 220+ today in 5° weather. Love it.
Well this lesson couldn't have come at a better time for me. Got down to 13 this year but I also strike the ball long. I Was trending in the direction. Then, without knowing why, I stayed long with my clubs but my dispersion had gone haywire and my HCP is going up, big time. Soul destroying not understanding what was going so wrong. Just had a look at my back swing in a mirror and this error is me all over. Can't wait to get in the range to drill this in. Cheers guys.
What has helped me when I start spraying drives all over the place, is to focus on a far extension on the backswing to the rear. It feels like the clubhead is far to my right but when I see my swing in my shadow I can see the backswing is much like shown in this lesson. The other day I was spraying drives and then began to focus on shortening (lengthening) my backswing and began hitting fairways. The only problem is that I did not do that until hole 15. Needless to day, my score was terrible.
I forgot to add "great video!!!" which it was, so I did. And although this guy has a pretty good swing, getting that trail shoulder to rotate behind our bodies towards the target during the backswing isn't so easy. Extending the hips a little near the top of the backswing can help the trail shoulder fully rotate and thus also help with the issue you were addressing in this video, I humbly believe. Would you agree? Again, great video.
Good stuff. Big take from this is to be quite strict on your form or or your body just finds the easiest path back to zero i.e collapsing the arms at the top and then just throw them down at the ball.
Width is such s key. Nicely taught. Im curious with a launch monitor available why you did not discuss path. Looks like he is left. I sometimes over do the tech. Curious how you leverage path numbers... Or do you stick with feels and positions?
Great question! His path wasn’t causing the issue. It was more of a face issue that was causing the dispersion problems. This links back to the width and sequencing
i would love a live lesson. my swing with both my irons and driver are around 10-15 degrees out to in. I cannot for the life of me get it down. Ive done lessons and training aids. PLEASE HELP
When I watched is swings at the end of the video, it still seemed like he was going much further back. Is the shorter swing just supposed to be a feel? If not, should he have been trying to shorten his swing even more than he was?
Yes we would like to see the golf club not travel as far back as it does. It will take time to get to the "ideal" place. He's on the right path now though.
@@meandmygolf. Yes i used to swing like this guy tho luckily didnt have a 2 way miss could break 80 But if like me ie most golfers you started as a strong adult male you have no idea how much coil/load/energy you have to put in B4 the hands get past the right leg! 99% of pros inc i bet you 2 learnt as weak kids so had to do this!
It seemed like he didn't quite understand part of what that drill teaches and symbolised. The drill proves that you don't need or want an independent arm swing in the backswing.
Fuck me ! It seems Every lesson i see some of my own issues 🤦🏼♂️ but this guy in 3 shots if you just showed the shots i would’ve believed you were showing my shots 😬
💯‼️ I definitely think width of the left arm is overlooked a lot. I guess my instinct would be just to open his stance a bit, aim slightly more left and play the fade..?

Great to hear Brian! Awesome, well done
These tips will make a difference for me as well. I have a similar problem with the right arm extension. Appreciated
Great. Hope this helps.
The great thing about this lesson is that you are teaching exactly the same thing a certain Mr. Foley passed on to you. Really good.
It's such a key component to help consistency at impact. Hope you enjoyed the video.
9 handicap with that swing! He must have a hell of a short game. Respect.
Hitting iron off the tee box. Percentage golf
well he went 6 years without hitting driver.. :D
Great lesson. I too struggle with short backswing and seeing this lesson, has given me a new goal to accomplish GREAT LESSON
Glad it was helpful Sheldon. Hope this helps.
Thanks guys, always seem so nice and genuine. 👍 for the algorithm!
Not sure when I'll play again, but I feel this is a huge fix to what I was struggling with yesterday. Thanks guys!!
Our Pleasure!! Hope it helps.
Wow, how simple you make the swing look, must give this a try.
Understanding is the key word
Love the lesson!! And love that he is using 2 gloves like Aaron Rai and me 😂😂😂
Thanks. 2 gloves all the way!!
That's my kind of back Swing. Enjoyed that and still learnt something👍🏽.🇿🇲
Great to hear Angie. Hope this was useful
Well done guys really appreciate your work 👏 😊
Thank you so much Roy. Hope all is well pal!!
Great lesson! 👍🏻
Thanks Rob!
@ having a wider swing arc has been one of the things I’ve been working on. Great to see the positive results from this lesson. 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️
Great video and quite simple to do 🤙
Thanks Geoff!
Geoff should do voice overs

Well done. Makes perfect sense.
Hope this is useful Jack.

Exactly what I am going through with my driver swing.
Hope this helps.
Great vídeo, thanks.
You are welcome!
Great video!!!
(Also early some extension.)
Often happens when we need to try and square the face or catch up the arms with the body

Thanks....fab lesson...
Glad you liked it!

Definitely. Having a simpler back swing makes it way easier!

How do I get a in person lesson with you guys?
We coach out of The Grand in San Diego. If you email us at Proudmanward@gmail.com we can send you details.
It looks for me that his left wrist is cupped which could cause some problems with face control at impact. Ir am I wrong?
Maybe a little cup yes. Could be a potential to look at in the future.
Why does it seem like you guys are completely ignoring his cupped left wrist?
a 9 on 9 holes maybe lol
Initially he was collapsing his arms due to/make up for, his weak body coil
Yes Graham. As soon as the body stops, it's so easy to collapse the arms and get narrow.

@@meandmygolf. Most dont star it! putting energy into the body early or like this guy did dont put any in just go through motions,a false turn

Think, don't cock your wrists!
Golfers are so gullible to golf con artists.
Looks like Michael Jackson in those gloves
😂😂
💯‼️ I definitely think width of the left arm is overlooked a lot. I guess my instinct would be just to open his stance a bit, aim slightly more left and play the fade..?
Yes it definitely is and it's linked to under rotation of the body usually. Always in favour of allowing for the ball flight on the golf course.
