7 still creeps me out, it's such a great thriller. I got this one as well, I like the simplicity of the case exterior & art. Superb transfer as well on this.
Great to hear that you picked it up yourself Paul and from the sounds of things you got as much out of it as I did. Such a wonderful movie. A huge thank you as always my friend for stopping by
I picked up both the steelbook and regular release for this one, believe it or not the regular release has better artwork on the inside than the steelbook lol. But I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Thank you Keith for covering this release as always!
I am seriously considering picking up the regular release myself Christian. I didn't realise the digipack edition got released over here. I just assumed it wasn't American release. A huge thank you as always Christian for taking the time to stop by. I'm so happy to hear that you got as much out of it as I did
Like I said in the video I thought it was decent. I've seen a hell of a lot better. But I'm still very happy to own it especially when you see how great the 4K transfer looks
Looks like a good upgrade from the blu ray. Not digging the design of this steelbook personally so I will probably just get the standard release of this film. Great video as always Keith.
Yeah it's a very good upgrade over the previous Blu-ray. I wouldn't say night and day difference but it's very solid. The Steelbook is decent. I've seen a hell of a lot better but I've also seen a hell of a lot worse. Thank you as always Gareth for stopping by
Hi Keith, absolutely loved this film back in the day, havnt seen it since dvd lol. looking forward to getting my hands on this and watching it again... tnx as always
Wow I can only imagine what that viewing experience is going to be like for you when you revisit this one on 4k. Trust me you are in for a treat. Thank you for taking the time to stop by
I never got to see it on the big screen. At the time I didn't want to take a gamble on it. Definitely regretting that decision now. Thank you as always Kyle for stopping by. I hope all is well
Yeah the digipack is the American release if I remember correctly. Great to hear that you got as much out of the transfer as I did Wayne. A huge thank you as always for stopping by
Another great video Keith, and a classic movie How come the "What's In The Box" release was cancelled? I've just been on Zavvi and ordered my copy of The Social Network 4K👍
I wish I knew why it was cancelled Chris. They never gave a reason. Such a shame because I would love to have owned it. Great to hear that you ordered your 4K release of The Social Network. Looking forward to getting my hands on that as well. Thank you once again Chris for taking the time to stop by
Another excellent addition to the collection Keith. I actually quite like the cover artwork, it’s quite subtle. Enjoy your watch of it. Thanks for another excellent review. Take care mate. Cheers.
Like I said in the video I found the Steelbook to be decent. I've seen better but I'm happy to have it. It's a very iconic scene as well. A huge thank you as always Adam for taking the time to stop by. Really appreciate the kind comment as well
I honestly have no idea. I wish they stuck to it. If you go onto Amazon there is another collector's edition you can pre-order for it. But I think they forgot to remove it off their website
Like I said in the video Saul it's a shame they didn't stick to the original collector's edition that we were meant to be getting. It's a movie that deserves a release like that. Thank you as always my friend for stopping by
Great Video Review Keith Fair Play 2 u 👍🏻, I got my 4K Steelbook delivered 🚚from Amazon on Mon 13th Jan, Looking fwd 2 watching myself interested what David Fincher & Warner Bros have done with it, haven’t Seen it I rented back from Xtra-Vision in Bray from 1996 can’t believe it’s 31yrs OMG😮
I really hope you get as much out of the 4K release as I did Matthew. I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. It'll be very interested to check out the other David Fincher movies we have coming this year. Panic Room and The Social Network. If they look anything like this I will be absolutely ecstatic. A huge thank you as always my friend for stopping by. It's always appreciated
I like the simplicity of this edition, Keith. I haven't seen the film in a long time, I don't even have it. I do need to give it a re watch at some point. Like you said it has a great cast. Glad to hear they have given it a decent 4K transfer. Excellent review, Keith.
It goes without saying Gary but if you ever do decide to revisit this one definitely look into the 4K release. I guarantee you it will add to your enjoyment of it. A huge thank you as always my friend for stopping by. It's always great seeing your name pop up
Hi Keith,I enjoyed your review/honest opinion as always. It helps in my decision to buy the film and not waste our money on poor discs, anyway thanks Keith 👍
I would say Buy With Confidence Tony. I can't imagine you'll be disappointed with this 4K release particularly when you stack it up against the previous Blu-ray. Thank you so much for checking out the video
Hey Keith. Glad you picked this one up. Really interesting to here your take on the picture quality, as I thought that this would be one that would shine on an OLED tv due to the black levels. On my QLED it's a bit washed out, but still a good transfer. The audio was fine. Yes, Atmos would probably have been better, with all the rain etc but it was very active, and I agree about the gunshots; good dollop of bass rumble in there as there is during the Nine Inch Nails track over the opening credits. Lovely stuff as always, Keith
Like I said in the video Steve it's a fantastic transfer. Definitely not the best I have ever seen but hands down the best the movie has ever looked. The black levels look beautifully dark but that's probably more down to my TV than anything else. To be honest I wasn't going to review this movie because of the whole AI thing behind it. You do get tired of trying to defend transfers when AI is involved. I can't see how anyone could complain against this one. Very surprised to hear that you thought it was washed out. I definitely didn't get that on my end. Let's face it though it's not what you call the most vibrant looking image you're ever going to see. But thank you as always Steve for stopping by
@millerman9991 yeah, I agree that the transfer is good, but it was the black levels on my TV that felt a tad washed out, but that was probably due to me having higher expectations than the TV is capable of 😂 That OLED will be mine! Biggest disappointment was, as you point out, the cancellation of the collectors editions. Overall I feel this is a good release, but it could've been great. Very happy to have it, though, as it's a great movie.
Yeah I completely understand that Steve. I would love to know would you feel differently if you did have an OLED TV. Not taking anything away from QLED TVS. But yeah the collector's edition was an absolute shame. I noticed you can still pre-order it on Amazon UK. They obviously forgot to remove it
@millerman9991 I'm pretty sure I would feel differently, Keith. In fact, I think I mentioned that on another forum I commented on, saying I'm sure it'd lool amazing on an OLED. Absolutely not criticising the transfer (even the AI), it was more to do with unreal expectations on my part
@Steve_281 no I completely understand what you were saying Steve. I've said it on so many videos but when it comes to 4K transfers you also have to factor in everybody's equipment. Everyone is going to have a different viewing experience and then of course as you mentioned expectations.
I watched the social network yesterday, hdr dolby atmos. I got sony bravia core for free with my new sony tv. I enjoyed se7en the other night, good transfer and no complaints about the audio ( my receiver upmix to dtshd neural x) I'm not too keen on my steelbook tbh, but it did arrive in perfect condition so overall I'm really happy to have it in my collection.. Film itself is 10/10 .
Yeah like I said in the video Ian is by no means the best looking Steelbook you're ever likely to see but just like yourself I'm happy to have it in my collection. Really looking forward to The Social Network. As a matter of fact there is another David Fincher movie coming out on 4K Panic Room. That's going to be a day one purchase as well.
@millerman9991 ill be grabbing panic room myself mate . Wierd that a film like the social network gets an atmos upgrade and se7en doesn't, can't work it out. Panic room would be a good choice for atmos aswell 🤞 . I'd really like the film HUSH, apparently there's an option for the atmos without the music score so I'd bet that's a cracker, good film too. Waiting for a sale 😆
A good review of a great film Keith, like you I'm disappointed we're not getting a special edition release so I'll hold off purchasing this for now just in case we do get a better edition. I've listened to the 4 commentaries at different times and can recommend them as they add more enjoyment to the film. Keep up the good work Keith 👍
Yeah I have to admit I am intrigued to check out some of the commentaries on this release. I don't listen to them as often as I should but when it's a movie that I enjoy I always try to check them out. Thank you so much for the heads up John and a huge thank you as always for stopping by. It's always appreciated my friend
@@millerman9991 I don't listen to many myself Keith but had to for this film and I thoroughly enjoyed them all. Always a pleasure to leave a comment for you 👌
@johnfitzpatrick9994 I think my favourite commentary I've ever listened to was the thing. You can tell that John Carpenter and Kurt Russell are drunk during it. Very entertaining
Hey Keith. I'm glad you liked the transfer. I saw it in the cinema last week and at first I was really pleased with the picture. As the film went on though I started to get distracted with the amount of picture sharpening that had been applied. Personally, the grain wasn't fine, it just wasn't there. I know I was watching a 4K DCP but I should have still felt like I was watching film. The sound design of the film is brilliant and though the dialogue was clear, I found it to sound a little Lo-Fi. So the cinema experience wasn't as good as I hoped. I got the Digibook. It's far better than the Steelbook and only has the 4K. I'll check out the image on my setup soon to see if I'm just as disappointed. Take it easy. Trev
Shame to hear that you had a disappointing cinema experience when it comes to Se7en. Fingers crossed the 4K experience will be a hell of a lot better for you. No question about it the grain is there on the 4K release. Like I said in the video very fine and consistent especially in those low lit interior scenes. As for the release itself I'm not going to lie I was disappointed with every single edition that came out. I felt the movie deserves better. It's probably why I was so disappointed when the collector's edition got cancelled. Thank you for stopping by. All the best
Never seen it Keith, if I do get it I would probably go for the mediabook edition. I have heard talk of Alien 3 (also David Fincher) and Alien Resurrection coming out on 4k at some point. We will see. Take care both of you. Gaz.
I am so surprised to hear that you never seen the movie Gary. You are going to be in for an absolute treat when you do get around to it. As for Alien 3 and Resurrection I will pick them up even though I'm not a big fan of them. Hands down my two worst alien movies
My favourite film from Fincher too, this and Girl with the dragon tattoo. It's such a shame we never had that what's in the bkx edition. Had it on preorder, too. Least we got a decent 4k transfer.
I went on to Amazon UK and believe it or not it's still available for pre-order. The what's in the box edition that is. The release date is for December this year. Obviously forgot to remove it from their website. It really is a shame
Thanks for the detailed look and screenshots Keith. I'm really surprised about the audio since the blu-ray had a 7.1 track. I wonder why they decided to change it to 5.1? I'm sure it sounds fine though just curious as to why they would do that.
Yeah I heard about that myself and I wouldn't mind but I have the Blu-ray in my collection. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to compare audio. Something's telling me Joe there's not going to be much of a difference if any at all. The 5.1 handles it all perfectly. Why they didn't include the 7.1 I honestly have no idea Thank you as always my friend for stopping by
@millerman9991 Yeah I figured it's fine and I'm not complaining about it. I just wonder if maybe it sounded more like what the director had in mind or what. To me it just seems like it would have been easier to use the existing 7.1 but who knows lol
@outdoorsjoe no I completely understand what you are saying Joe. It could be a directors Intent. David Fincher was involved with the restoration so that definitely could be the case
Hi Keith, have to say that I agree with your review fully. I got this SB release last week and loved my viewing. The 4K transfer was really good (as you say) and even though some have knocked the sound for being a step down from the old 7.1 off the BR, I was impressed by it. All in all a nice release of an outstanding film. I’m now really looking forward to the steels of Kill Bill 1&2 especially. It’s a shame that they are only upscales of the 2k intermediate, but I love those films (especially part 1) and hope that the HDR and Audio really deliver.
Unfortunately I have heard some very bad reviews when it comes to The Kill Bill movies. I'm definitely going to hold off buying those Steelbook releases because I do find them a little too expensive at the moment. I might wait for a price drop. It might have to be a massive price drop if the reviews that I'm hearing are true. But yes Se7en in the end was a great looking transfer. To be honest I never checked out the 7.1 for comparison but I can't imagine it been drastically different. I'm very happy with it in the end.
Hey Keith, definitely agree with you. They did an excellent job with the video transfer. Beautiful blacks, wonderful detail, and just the right bump in color to make it natural. The audio is my only issue not that it doesn’t sound good. It certainly does, but what it could, and really should have been. as I understand when this was originally released theatrically, it had a 5.1 soundtrack then when it was released on DVD, it was upgraded to a 6.1 soundtrack and then when it was released on Blu-ray it was upgraded to a 7.1 soundtrack so obviously this should’ve been upgraded to Atmos and it’s a shame that it wasn’t. I sold my Blu-ray last year. As for whatever reason it’s simply wouldn’t play in my player. It’s the only movie I have or at least that I know of that will not play in my beloved oppo 205. but I still have my DVD that really cool notebook edition really cool packaging on that DVD anyways, I compared the 6.1 to the new 5.1 and surprisingly the sound quality is pretty close. I do give the edge to the new 5.1 for pure sound a little more weight to the voices and depth, but the mix the DVD is better again not by leaps and bounds, but better much more filling sound versus the somewhat front heavy 5.1 mix again not by a lot but this really shouldn’t be. I would’ve much preferred them carry over the old 7.1 mix that was on the Blu-ray but what can you do. I don’t think David Fincher is against Atmos I’m sure it’s the studio is to blame for whatever reason money, time etc. but I do have the Columbia classics exclusive, at least for a little while longer version of the social network and that has a new Dolby Atmos mix as well as the upcoming panic room also a Columbia movie that will have a Atmos mix. I also have zodiac on 4K unfortunately, no Atmos and that one either,I think that’s my favorite film followed closely by seven and then probably the game just about everything. This guy does is great so it’s hard to choose anyways Keith stay safe and healthy and we’ll see you in the next one👍
Unfortunately I didn't have the time to do a comparison on the 7.1 audio that we got with the Blu-ray. Having said that John the 5.1 on this disc was incredibly impressive. I was actually taken back by it. There is no doubt about it that Dolby Atmos would have added so much to this 4K release. I am definitely going to chalk that down to the studio more than David Fincher. I think it's a missed opportunity. To be honest I would love to see Studios committing a lot more to Dolby Atmos particularly on the right kind of movies. But yes I am looking forward to getting my hands on the Social Network and Panic Room. Panic Room in particular is going to be a great revisit. It's been a couple of years since I last seen it and I cannot wait to check it out again. Fingers crossed they deliver on the 4K transfer. A huge thank you as always John for taking the time to stop by and put all of this down for me. It's always appreciated. Look after yourself my friend
I can't wait to revisit this. It looks bloody fantastic, and i must admit i like the simplistic cover, if you take into account how simple the blu ray and dvd covers have been. If Disney manage to somehow get Fincher involved in restoring Alien 3 (I've more chance of becoming Dirk Diggler), then it'll definitely be a day one purchase. Though i must admit i love Alien 3, and it's atmosphere. Great stuff, Keith. All the best.
Trust me when I say you are in for a treat when you do revisit this movie on 4k. I couldn't be happier. As for the Steelbook like I said it's decent but I've seen a hell of a lot better. I don't regret buying it. Apparently it's strongly rumored that we are getting Alien 3 and Resurrection on 4k. I'm not the biggest fan of either movie but it goes without saying I will be picking them up. A huge thank you as always my friend for stopping by
@millerman9991 for me, Alien Resurrection is utter gusset. Jen likes it, but for me it gets worse on every repeat viewing. And you're welcome. You put out some cracking videos.
Great upload as usual. I love this movie and it’s one of the best ever made. Was planning to get it on 4k dvd but held back as it didn’t come with Dolby Vision, whereas I purchased it on Apple TV and it’s got 4k Dolby Vision and looks better than it’s looked before. Yes streaming isn’t good as physical media, but think it’s a shame they didn’t add Dolby Vision to disc. I may end up getting it on 4k dvd one day.
To be honest Wayne I'm not too bothered when it comes to HDR vs Dolby Vision. I think 9 out of 10 times you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. All I really care about in the end is that one of them is featured on the 4K disc. Don't get me wrong I would always prefer to see Dolby Vision but it would never put me off buying a release if it didn't come with it. I definitely recommend looking into it physically. I think you might be impressed
Couldn't agree more Keith. This is an excellent transfer. Great to have this for an excellent movie. Like you I'd have loved the collectors edition , I did have it preordered but such is life! I have gotten friendly with the manager of the Golden Discs beside me at work and she gives me 20% discount and I picked this up last week. It's nice to have an alternative to Amazon. They have a decent 4k selection and she'll order in anything I need. Seven is my 2nd favourite Fincher movie. Zodiac is my top one and little doubt he's a very talented film maker. Thanks for the as usual excellent review 👍
The biggest problem I have with golden discs is whenever you get a Steelbook release of a movie that's brand new it's always €60 for it. Thankfully 7 was a hell of a lot cheaper particularly for yourself Alan because you got the 20% off. But for me I will always go to Amazon. I don't think I could ever spend over €40 on a Steelbook release. It would have to be something very special. Thank you as always my friend for taking the time to stop by. It's always appreciated
@millerman9991 in fairness Keith the full price was 40 euro so I got it for 32 and I have noticed lately that it's only the Collectors Editions they charge 60 for and standalone steelbooks are in and around the 40 mark mostly now
@thedarkknightish I'm almost certain I checked out the new Steelbook that's coming out for smile 2 and it's on their website for €60. A lot of there steelbooks particularly over in blanchardstown are nearly all €60. I'm almost certain seven was 45 if I remember correctly unless something has changed
@millerman9991 I work in Stephens Green Centre in Dublin and it was definitely 40. I'd have been happy enough paying that to be honest. Amazon aren't a lot cheaper but she got back from lunch as I was going to the till. Maybe they realise they need to be more competitive now.
This is one of those films I read about when I was 14 and thought it was going to make me feel sick. When I eventually saw it, I loved it and it wasn't as disgustingly graphic as I was expecting. It's a well made, well acted horror adjacent thriller.
It's only when I watched it myself the other night I realised quite quickly how much the setting of this movie influenced the saw series. It's such a wonderful movie and it was a blast revisiting it after all these years
Believe it or not Ryan but I'm strongly thinking about buying the digipak. I think it's a very nice release. I might hold off for a while and see if there's a price drop. I think you're good either way
Hi Keith,,, A great film 🎥 👍,, It's such a shame,, that the collectors edition was cancelled,,, I don't know why,,,,,,🤔,, Apparently,, the blu ray is in 7.1 dts,,, Yeah bit of talk about it,,, Why the blu ray,,, and not the 4k ,,, But anyway good video Keith,,👌
Yeah you are absolutely spot on Lee the Blu-ray did in fact have a DTS 7.1. I didn't have a chance to compare both of them. But I can't imagine too many people complaining about the 5.1 that you get with this release. I thought it sounded fantastic. I must check out the Blu-ray and see what I think. Thank you as always my friend for stopping by. Hope all is well with you
I kind of wish they would at least give us an explanation to why it got cancelled. Such a shame. But I really do hope you enjoy it when you check out it's transfer. Thank you for stopping by
I brought the mediabook edition as I didn't like the art work for the steelbook, but the next film from david fincher which is going be good on 4k is panic room
I really need to check out that mediabook release. Didn't realise one came out. Yeah I have Panic Room pre-ordered. Really looking forward to revisiting that one
Hi Keith, thanks for your video. You're absolutely right about the release. I was kind of underwhelmed by the steelbook as well. Yes, it's not too bad, but Warners could have invested a little more effort into it, especially now that the box edition was cancelled. And the extras are not really great for a masterpiece like this. Maybe Warner should have licensed Seven to Arrow like they did with Demolition Man. The picture quality, however, is really amazing. Like you mentioned, no trace of black crush and a very nice grain structure. I think Warner should have upgraded this to Dolby Atmos. The nearly permanent rain in quite a few of the exterior scenes would definitely have benefited from an Atmos track. But I'm still very happy to finally have this 4K in my collection. I'm also looking forward to The Social Network on 4K. This being a Sony release I'm convinced that we're getting a beautiful transfer and maybe even an Atmos track. I have also preordered the Panic Room steelbook. This is another great Fincher thriller I really enjoy. Great cast and another Sony 4K.
Yeah like I said in the video Ash the movie lens incredibly well to Dolby Atmos. But it's hard to feel disappointed when you do hear how good the DTS 5.1 sounds. I was very surprised by how immersive it is. I think the biggest issue I have overall is how bigger this release should have been. If they stuck to that original collector's edition I thought would have been perfect. A collector's release worthy of the movie itself. I would love to know why they cancelled it. I am a huge fan of Panic Room and I have pre-ordered that Steelbook as well. It's great to see that David Fincher is getting so much love on 4k. A huge thank you once again my good friend for taking the time to stop by. I hope to see you in the comment section tonight for the live stream. Have a great weekend
The fact that they cancelled the collector's edition tells me that we probably won't be getting anything else. To be honest Thomas I'm hoping I'm wrong.
I absolutely love this movie but found the transfer to be a touch disappointing. The HDR really handles the blacks, shadow detail and depth exceptionally well and I think this 4K is worthy of a pickup for those reasons alone. However, I do think the overall appearance is a bit too clean and digital for my personal taste, there is certainly evidence of sharpening. The very fine layer of grain was apparently not native to the scan and was added during the post-processing which I suppose at least makes it consistent in appearance. Adding clouds to the final scene, making it darker in appearance is a baffling change too. Makes the actors look like they're on a soundstage. Still, a good release overall and it's great we're finally getting David Fincher on 4K. Thanks for the review!
I thought the grain structure on this 4K release was a marked improvement over the previous Blu-ray. So much more consistent particularly in those low lit interior shots. I can understand what you mean though when it comes to the movie looking a little too digital. Maybe a movie like this needs to be a bit more grittier. But for the most part I found the 4K transfer to be very satisfying. Like I said in the video not the best you're ever likely to see but a marked improvement over the Blu-ray. As for him adding clouds to the final scene to be honest I guarantee you if people weren't made aware of it chances are you would never have noticed. But thank you as always Mike for taking the time to stop by and share your thoughts. It's always appreciated
@@millerman9991 It's nice to have a calm and respectful discussion about something we clearly both enjoy. I did wonder if I hadn't known about the addition of clouds, would I have noticed. I'd like to say I would have but cannot say for sure. I will say this is something we shouldn't even have to discuss... 😅
@mikettc7803 I could spend hours upon hours talking to you about clouds Mike. But yeah I absolutely agree with you it's something we shouldn't have to talk about. Absolutely no need to add it to the movie. Directors really should leave their movies alone. Not much good comes from it
Watched this in IMAX with Laser GT on the UK’s widest screen last Friday. Then watched the 4K listening to the first of five audio commentaries a couple of days ago. Have at least another four viewings planned listening to all of the audio commentaries plus working my way through all of the Extras. 😎
Now that is dedication for you. To be honest I'm actually looking forward to my next viewing of it myself. I was so impressed with how it looked and sounded. Need to check out some of those extras myself.
@ - This movie deserves more and better Extras imo especially for this 30th Anniversary release. Warner Bros. were extremely lazy in that department for this 4K release. I used to own The Criterion Collection LaserDisc box set. That had one exclusive audio commentary (select scenes) and some exclusive Extras that have never found their way onto other formats.
Like I said in the video it deserved a documentary or even a making of. It was a highly anticipated 4K release but they definitely drop the ball on the special features. I'm almost certain I have a DVD edition with a dedicated bonus disc. I could be getting that wrong though
@cheekster777 yeah I knew I seen it in my collection a couple of days ago. Why could they not simply put the special features on that disc to the Blu-ray. Absolutely baffling
In March theyre releasing another great David Fincher film in 4K...,Panic Room. Se7en, Fight Club and Panic Room probably my top 3 favourites of his filmography
@millerman9991 not a big fan of the steelbook artwork they've gone with. Hoping they'll release a standard version with original artwork on the slipcover. Either way I'll get a version of it when it's released as can't miss out on this title
I'm sure they will bring out a standard release and fingers crossed a slipcover with it. The Steelbook reminds me of this one. Not the best I've ever seen but not the worst either
I'm too very dissapointed with the cancellation of the head in the box edition or whatever it was. And like icing on the cake this steelbook arrived today in two pieces.
Wow I am so sorry to hear that your Steelbook arrived in such poor condition. Hopefully you won't have too much trouble returning it and getting a replacement. Things like that shouldn't happen
Hey Ryan. As soon as I have the opportunity I will stop by your video and check it out. Something's telling me the digipack is going to be the best of the two.
FYI - the six ”scratches” on the front with four of them “scratched out” actually denotes a count of SEVEN. Not sure if this is just a US thing that doesn’t translate well to others.
I actually like the SteelBook cover. It’s a great moment in the movie imo. 👍🏻
Yeah no question about it it's a fantastic scene and it's a decent Steelbook. I've just seen better
I'm so happy to hear that you got as much out of it as I did
@@millerman9991 You definitely should! And no problem, and thank you!
steelbook cover amazing in my opinion and the video looks really good!
Like I said in the video I thought it was decent. I've seen a hell of a lot better. But I'm still very happy to own it especially when you see how great the 4K transfer looks
good video as usual Keith, the se7en 4k is excellent very pleased with it
Great to hear that you enjoyed it as much as you did Mark. Thank you as always for taking the time to stop by
Great work Keith....il be picking this up for sure.
You are going to be well impressed when you do Roy. Thank you as always for stopping by
Looks like a good upgrade from the blu ray.
Thank you as always Gareth for stopping by
I got the 4K Steelbook. I will watch this weekend.
Really hope you enjoy it Patrick. Thank you for stopping by
Hi Keith, absolutely loved this film back in the day, havnt seen it since dvd lol. looking forward to getting my hands on this and watching it again... tnx as always
Wow I can only imagine what that viewing experience is going to be like for you when you revisit this one on 4k. Trust me you are in for a treat. Thank you for taking the time to stop by
Brilliant keith. I will get a copy of it myself. A truly great film. I remember going to the Savoy cinema to watch it and i was blown away by it
I never got to see it on the big screen. At the time I didn't want to take a gamble on it. Definitely regretting that decision now. Thank you as always Kyle for stopping by. I hope all is well
Great unboxing and review of Seven such a great film I thought the 4k transfer was amazing as well. I got the digipak release.
Yeah the digipack is the American release if I remember correctly. Great to hear that you got as much out of the transfer as I did Wayne. A huge thank you as always for stopping by
Yes but i live in UK it was released here as well.
Wow I didn't realise that. Thanks for letting me know
Another great video Keith, and a classic movie
How come the "What's In The Box" release was cancelled?
Really appreciate the kind comment as well
So glad to hear it’s good. This film is in my top 5 favourite ever
Yeah I'm very happy with how it looks and I could imagine this movie being in a lot of people's top 5. It's one of those movies
@ wonder what happened to the special edition with the box. It was a pre order on Amazon and then it got removed
I honestly have no idea. I wish they stuck to it. If you go onto Amazon there is another collector's edition you can pre-order for it. But I think they forgot to remove it off their website
Thank you Keith.
Thank you Cheekster
I love the movie, but I expected more when it comes to the edition. Thank you as always mate
Definitely on my list, maybe a standard edition , a movie I only have seen once !! Cheers Keith
Definitely worth looking into Conor. Hope you enjoy your second viewing. Thank you as always for stopping by
I like the simplicity of this edition, Keith.
I enjoyed se7en the other night, good transfer and no complaints about the audio ( my receiver upmix to dtshd neural x)
I'm not too keen on my steelbook tbh, but it did arrive in perfect condition so overall I'm really happy to have it in my collection..
Nice looking steelbook, the digipak looks cool too,its a classic film
Yeah I have to agree with you when it comes to the digipak. It's a shame we didn't get it over here. Thank you as always Marty for stopping by
A good review of a great film Keith, like you I'm disappointed we're not getting a special edition release so I'll hold off purchasing this for now just in case we do get a better edition.
@@millerman9991 Will have to check that one out at some point, cheers Keith 👍
@johnfitzpatrick9994 I hope you do John. It's highly entertaining
Se7en is one of my favourite movies keith....kane hodder was the stunt coordinator on this film!
I had absolutely no idea Kane Hodder was associated with this movie. I would never have put that together. Nice bit of trivia
Very simple for such an awesome movie. I’ll get it but I’m not the happiest person with this edition.
I'm not the happiest myself. Wish they stuck to the collector's edition we were meant to be getting.
One of my favourite movie. Incredible heavy climate
Definitely up there for me as well Igor. Very unique. Thank you for checking it out
Thanks for the detailed look and screenshots Keith.
Why they didn't include the 7.1 I honestly have no idea
Thank you as always my friend for stopping by
@millerman9991 Yeah I figured it's fine and I'm not complaining about it.
Got my copy yesterday from Zavvi. There was a scratch across the title on the spine, but that’s a risk you take with getting things in the post.
Zavvi Strikes Again. Sorry to hear that happened to your copy of it David. I did notice you posted it on Facebook. A huge thank you for stopping by
Hey Keith, definitely agree with you.
Hi Keith not one of the best looking steelbooks but I really like this movie
Definitely not Mike but like I said in the video I have seen a hell of a lot worse. Thank you for checking it out
I can't wait to revisit this.
@thatotherretroguy yeah I have to agree with you on Resurrection. You never know maybe a good 4K transfer might heighten our enjoyment of it
Great upload as usual.
Well if it's at €40 then maybe that's not too bad. Let's hope they start doing the same on more of the newer movie releases
It's such a wonderful movie and it was a blast revisiting it after all these years
I picked up the digipack and can't wait to dive in. I'm just hoping I can get the disc out in one piece 😅
You gotta love those digipak editions. I think you're going to be impressed David. Hopefully you get as much out of it as I did
I've been torn between this one and the digipack so held off. Think I'm going to go for the steelbook
Believe it or not Ryan but I'm strongly thinking about buying the digipak. I think it's a very nice release. I might hold off for a while and see if there's a price drop. I think you're good either way
@ I hear the discs are in the slip cardboard like interstellar! But it does look nice!
@ryantalksphysicalmedia in that case I'm going to stay away from it. I didn't realise the discs were housed that way
Hi Keith,,,
A great film 🎥 👍,,
It's such a shame,, that the collectors edition was cancelled,,, I don't know why,,,,,,🤔,,
Apparently,, the blu ray is in 7.1 dts,,,
Yeah bit of talk about it,,,
Why the blu ray,,, and not the 4k ,,,
But anyway good video Keith,,👌
Yeah you are absolutely spot on Lee the Blu-ray did in fact have a DTS 7.1. I didn't have a chance to compare both of them. But I can't imagine too many people complaining about the 5.1 that you get with this release. I thought it sounded fantastic. I must check out the Blu-ray and see what I think. Thank you as always my friend for stopping by. Hope all is well with you
@millerman9991 no problem Keith,,,.
Thank you 👍👌
@lee-the-artist-1392 always my pleasure
My copy will arrive next week, I am so excited to watch it 😬 but I am disappointed that the big edition was stopped 😣
I kind of wish they would at least give us an explanation to why it got cancelled. Such a shame. But I really do hope you enjoy it when you check out it's transfer. Thank you for stopping by
@ yes I agree an explanation would be great. The one good thing is the Steelbook takes less space in my shelf 😂
Yeah that what's in the box edition looked quite big. But I still would love to have owned it. But as you said we saved a little space
Yeah, sure I'll be there and I'm looking forward to it!
@EvilAsh66 cheers Ash. Really appreciate it
i held off buying 7 as i am hoping they release a better version in a couple of month , hope i'm right .
@ - Correct. The Collector’s Edition and Special Edition 2-Disc DVD releases had a disc containing bonus features.
Yeah it's only when I finished shooting the video I realised Panic Room is coming out as well. Goes without saying but I have that pre-ordered
@mawilliams1978 there is a nice media book version available. Saw it on Amazon
I thought that the Neon Red Cross in john doe's apartment would have made for a cool steelbook cover
Yeah I could see that working. It actually would have been ideal to put onto the back of the Steelbook. Instead of giving us what we got
Hi Keith, I’ve just uploaded a video comparing the two editions of it helps you decide whether to get the digipak too 😅
Yeah I understand what they are representing. The reason why I said nothing in the video is because I just assumed everybody understood that
You're aware that the markings at the bottom of the front is 7 marks for each deadly sin?
Yeah of course I do.
Very underwhelming Steelbook for this one
It's decent but I've seen better. Very happy to have it though
It's a bummer that our only choices are this steelbook or the horrible digi-pack. A nice slipcover amaray version would have been so much better.
