They really need to stop housing discs like that. Nothing good is going to come from it. I think you might have gotten more out of your release Jimmy than I did. Really enjoyed your video

@millerman9991 I didn't have a 4k of the movie so that was the main factor for me (my eldest has since nabbed a couple of the posters and patches for herself so..... Everybody wins 😊

Trust me if I didn't have that €20 voucher there is no way I would have went near this release. I am just like yourself I would rather have seen it done Like the Way Warner Brothers always do them. Much similar to Oppenheimer and it was meant to be that way and for the life of me I do not understand why they changed it. So I'm not surprised to hear that you passed on it

Like I said in the video it's not a terrible release far from it as a matter of fact. But that price tag really is ridiculous when you think about it. There should have been so much more to this set. It feels more like a missed opportunity than anything else. I'm just hoping the upcoming inception collectors release is not going to be anything like this. I never actually thought of that when it comes to Spielberg's close encounters. I can definitely see it. I know this movie is not for everybody and there is always going to be those comparisons to 2001 A Space Odyssey. Even I mentioned it in the video. But it's a movie that I absolutely love and I always learn something new from it everytime I watch it. I'm not one bit surprised to hear that this was an easy pass. I would have been the same if I didn't have that €20 voucher

Honestly John I'm not one bit surprised to hear that you didn't bother with this release and if I didn't have the €20 voucher I would have passed on it myself. The one thing I will say though is Amazon Italy are bringing this release out and if it doesn't sell out chances are you will see a price drop in the new year. The only problem is you don't buy off Amazon. Definitely recommend a revisit John and if you do look into the 4K release. It will elevate that movie for you. I'm not especially keen on the super long box, either. Many of use don't have ideal shelving for that, and it just seems so unnecessary, like they decided that a big box would be more likely to justify a big price in people's minds. I would have preferred a shorter, fatter box, like the North by Northwest set.

Trust me Robert if I didn't have the 20 euro voucher I would have done the same. Why Warner Brothers decided to change it I will never fully understand. A few people told me that Christopher Nolan was involved with this release. I'm not sure how true that is though. Fingers crossed the upcoming inception release is going to be back to the old way. @supertrexandroidx that's why I decided to show the North by northwest edition in this video because I honestly think that's the way they should be done. I have absolutely no problem paying the €50 price tag for release like that. Can't say the same for the interstellar release. It really is a pain in the ass to try and find a place in the collection as well. Fingers crossed it's a one-off

Great minds think alike because that's exactly what I done when I finished shooting the video. I can't risk having those discs scratched. I actually missed out on that Star Trek release that you mentioned Mike. One of the reasons to why I did is the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of the original Motion Picture believe it or not. But take nothing away from the release it looked absolutely fantastic. I have been told by a few people tonight that this edition is selling out everywhere. I know it's still available to pre-order on Amazon Italy and if it doesn't sell out their chances are you will see a price drop. Definitely worth keeping an eye out. @millerman9991 I will say the Directors Edition is a much better version than the 79 theatrical as it flows so much better. And in 4K it looks gorgeous with a fantastic Atmos soundtrack. I'm glad I jumped on it when I did as I'm a huge fan of the film. But I'll definitely keep an eye on that Interstellar set as I would love to see it in 4K.

I completely forgot that there was a director's cut of that movie. Maybe I should have jumped on it. You never know maybe someday in the future I might get lucky and find one out in the wild. Thanks for the heads up on that Mike

The horrible thing is I had it pre-ordered for months when it was meant to be the normal collectors release. Then my order was cancelled because they decided to give it a revamp. I think it would have been better if they stuck to the old formula. A missed opportunity unfortunately. But thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and check it out

There you go Kris that is something I should have mentioned in the video. Look at what you are getting with the arrow Video releases. Beautiful packaging. All very well put together and it's also jam packed with special features and all for almost half the price. Need we say anymore

Hey Alan. Believe it or not but going by the comment section tonight these Editions seem to be selling out very quickly. I was very surprised to hear it. They are still available on Amazon Italy and if they don't sell out I wouldn't be one bit surprised if you do see a price drop in the new year. It's a nice release but not for the money. I really need to look into that release of To Kill a Mockingbird. I've never actually seen the movie but it's definitely on my radar. From the sounds of things that is a fantastic price for what you are getting. I will definitely look into it and thank you for making me aware of it. @millerman9991 it's a wonderful movie Keith. Gregory Peck is fantastic in it. One of those Oscar winning performances that was totally justified unlike some others over the years. In terms of movie history it's one of the most important films ever made due to the subject matter. And also one of the few times a great book was adapted into a movie that is just as great.

Luckily I was fortunate when it comes to this release because I had the €20 voucher. If I didn't have it there is no way I would have picked up this release. That's why I said what I said in the video the best thing to do is wait for a price drop.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the inception collectors release. I really hope it's not like this one. I love Christopher Nolan but I think he made the wrong call on this release if that is true

Yeah I was a little bit concerned when it came to the inception release because apparently Christopher Nolan had a large say when it comes to this release of interstellar

The thing is you should never have to pay for bonus content. There's a reason why it's called bonus content. As for the patches I have seen similar ones myself but for much cheaper. It's still my favourite part of the release though.

@@millerman9991 I get what you mean mate, but sets with bonus content are more expensive because of the bonus content if that makes sense. So they do factor a cost in there. These are not run off patches from any normal vendor, apparently they made sure they matched the screen used patches exactly. However, I agree that this should have maybe included something else e.g. the soundtrack disc perhaps, and better disc holders, as well as maybe a US flag patch, NASA patch and name patches.

@trekernaut yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about. If you notice at the end of the video I said that even though I am slightly underwhelmed by the release it's still a nice release I just wanted more from it. The housing of the discs is terrible. There is no other word for it and they really have to stop doing it like that in the future.

Why they didn't stick to the old Formula which I thought would have been much better and cheaper for that matter. The minute I knocked on the camera I knew I was going to compare it to North by northwest and I was right to do so. Interstellar should have looked like that release but unfortunately that's not what we got in the end. But it is a wonderful movie and it's nice to own a collector's release. Believe it or not but I had nothing but Trouble trying to remove that disc since I've gotten this release. I was going to mention it in the video but of course when I went to remove it it came out easy. The first time it's ever done that. This is not the way to house discs.

Like I said in the video Ash my memory is a little bit hazy when it comes to the movie itself but I do remember it being very unique and I honestly cannot wait to revisit it in January. It's been a long time coming. Universal have done it once again with another stellar release. They haven't brought out a bad edition this year. Every single aspect of their releases look top-notch.
