This is me being a jrk with low level wanteds in a beacon, just to show the power of the cannons, a trully devastating weapon. The experimental effects for the size 1 hard points are really interesting.
I chose them gimbaled, because I am really bad at aiming with fixed weapons (no hotas, and no mouse), especially when the projectile is slow, but these cannons are still really powerful even gimbaled. Better commanders than me can use the fixed ones and they can be absolutely devastating.
-PROS: low power draw, immense damage, shakes the target, visually satisfactory. Long fall-off distance (the target distance where the weapon starts to do less damage).
-CONS: Limited ammo, big mass, low fire rate, slow bullets.
Many consider the Crusader as an absurd ship, and I kind of agree. But this build makes this ship really really fun to pilot. Hey, and you have got a fighter bay.

Hehe, one has to try everything. I didn't try the Adder yet, mainly because is atrociously ugly to me 😂. But is fun to try all ships.

I did this with a chieftain, all gimbaled multicanons fully engineered, everything engineered to the max, 8 km range, different experimentals on every canon, 450 boost speed, it's a beast. Against npcs anyway.
You can fix them with engineering, you can speed up the projectile velocity enhancing the damage, then wit the experimental effect you can have even more powerful cannons

The wing on the crusader bothers me a lot less than the weird antennas on the krait - yeah I said it

an actual conversation i had with a friend to convince them to use cannons:
"do you refer to your ferdy as a she?"
"of course!"
"if you put this here class 4 cannon on it you will have to start referring to it as a he."
"...i'm sold! gimme!"
also if you want to try another powerful build try a federal gunship with all multicannons. boost toward your target (but not directly at it) and turn flight assist off, then rain hell as you drift by. works amazingly well if you fly in groups with other people. even unengineers it is devastating. like an AC-130 in space.

Great idea, but first I should improve my faoff skills, which are not very good. I use it a lot with the mamba, but faoff/faon constantly, not faoff all the time.

Is there engineering on this build? I really want to try it because it looks so fun, but I'm curious to know if it has long range or overcharge or something of the sort. Either way, love the build!
Yeah, it's heavily engineered, but unfortunately I didn't put the buil in the description (as in other videos) because I am an idiot lol. Now thats looks like a fun build :-D might be good for assasination missions. But the ammo seems quite limited yeah :-D
Yeah, the ammo is a problem, but it lasts more than you would expect. When all the cannons impact, is really satisfying hehe.

that seems like fun... but ill stick with my challenger multi-cannons.
I love an all multis challenger. It has always been one of my favorite PvE builds. Maybe too bulky, that's why I prefer the chief, but yeah, the Challenger is cool too.

For some reason, people like this build way more than I expected hehe.
Cannons are undervalued in the game, because of their lacking visual effects. Only advanced players include them in their builds.
Yeah, but when several of them hit, and you see the ship being shaked by the impact, it's so satisfying!
Although the worst issue, I think, is not the projectile speed (which you can increase by engineering), but the ammo.
Anyway, this is a meme build, as most of my absurd builds hehe. But fun to play.
And yeah, cannons ar underrated. A cannons vulture can be really lethal, for instance.
1:22 Dave Lister?!!! Nooooooo...lol. (For those who don't know, that's the main character of "Red Dwarf," probably the coolest scifi comedy ever made. And if you play E:D and didn't know that, you should keep feeling bad until you get right.) Yeah, on these babies the long range mod really speeds up the projectiles and makes it easier to hit targets.
OMG I didn't realize!! lol. I've got some videos killing some celebrities, real or fictional, like David Attenborough or Hari Seldon. I think than many of us have killed the pirate known as Al Bundy hehe.
Red Dwarf is an amazing show. It was aired in my country when I was like 13 or 14, along with Parker Lewis. God such good times!
The show was so different that not many people got it. Like, sci fi and comedy can't mix. Yeah, to me, that show and Futurama are the best sci-fi shows.
Love to see how effective they are at dispatching targets. Unfortunately for me every time I use them I can never hit my target even with engineering. Cannons are garbage in my hands which is why i stick to lasers for pve
My aim is really bad (no hotas nor mouse, but game pad), that is why I use gimballed. Try gimballed and shoot from not too far, because these bullets are not very fast.
my vulture (appropriately called dual thunder) has a pair of gimballed cannons, incredibly fun, and not bad at actually making contact
