- Clearwater Florida Nationals puts Miss Geico with 1650 Mercury Twin Turbo's Vs Team Qatar's New 1800hp T-53 turbines. Both Teams mix it up a little in turn 2 and Miss Geico Spins out on lap 6.5 after coming in HOT (147mph) and tight on a chopped up turn.
Throttle man in Team Qatar is an excellent trim and jack man he gets the boat running so smoothly
Now I know why air travel and car insurance is so expensive
It is great to see that the incident could be handled in a sportsman like manner.
glad team geico and qatar are safe...this could have turned out far worse...just shows the level of passion that went into this battle...RESPECT

The nose pitched down a bit, caught some water, and spun the boat around. Use a rear rudder that always stays in the water to get rid of that problem. And install dual contra-rotating gyro-stabilizers to dampen out any pitch or yaw in the boat. They are very heavy but they work wonders for stability. Once you get above 250 mph even that won't be enough and you will need to install a large vertical and horizontal 'T'-tail on a boom that stretches out from behind the boat itself. The boat begins to behave more like an airplane over 250 mph.
Those boats seem to have very large blind spots so I can see how that could be just a miscalculation. Professionals both. Good to see nothing major happened. Classy teams.

I sure wish you guys would just come race in The Carib Great Race in Trinidad .. one of the longest offshore powerboat races in the world 1 Day over 100 miles of ocean racing .... This is not Key West or Sarasota ....water conditions are constantly changing where the Caribbean sea and the Atlantic oceans meet ...... watch Great Race 2013 Official Movie

Donte Burgess Understood !! ...its just a safety issue ....... on a bad day its really bad , un-predictable swells with varying distances, waves hitting you from the left or right ...... at 180 mph + its suicide ...... here is a tickler that you may not be aware of .... if We don't want any speed restrictions , then why was the Trinidad crew prevented from racing in the SBI in key west on November 2014 with a 210mph Turbine cat sponsored by Geico, as geico does not have a turbine at the moment, she burnt remember ?....
Politics played my friend . Of course the Trinidad contingent was dissapointed , but hey it is what it is.
But in the end Geico had the last laugh and took home the title with their props and almost flipped in the process ave speed 150 mph, water conditions were rough . No mention was made of the second Geico entrant (Sponsored Turbine) ... dont know why .

Americans used to do the long haul stuff years ago. They've since changed in attempt to draw actual event spectators and spur interest. However most of us cannot even afford the fuel for these things. Me included

No theres no way it was, iv been around those 2 teams multiple times, they are nice to each other in person, they just start talking trash to each other on the news to spark some drama but its actually all good between them, they were chill, so it must have been an accident

Josh Ingle Geico was not using turbines in that video.. clearly you can see the exhaust. There using supercharged mercury 1650's, when Qatar is making almost 1800 HP each engine.

Saw that coming a mile away driver sucks
That same driver got a world record (2 to be exact) and that same driver won with a crappy sequential gearbox when all of the other teams had turbine engines, so basically was an underdog yet still got 1st
