- The 2014 Key West Offshore Racing World Championships proved to be one of the most exciting in history with a combined total of 9 unlimited class offshore boats competing for the Holy Grail of Offshore Racing. The Unlimited Class Championship trophy and the bragging rights that your team is the fastest offshore racing team in the world. These exotic machines are packing 3-4 thousand horsepower in lightweight ocean racing hulls are capable of speeds in excess of 200mph and accelerate at breathtaking speeds.
The race is a week long event made up of 3 races and 3 test days racking up over 160 miles of full speed offshore racing action. Staying in the points race and maintaining a healthy fast boat are the keys to success. As the saying goes....To be the best...you must win in Key West.
Miss Geico was down in the points due to some technical challenges the first two events and needed some good luck and a big win on Sundays rough race. with rain forecasted and winds at 20 knots Team USA was determined to show the world what she was made of...and thats what she delivered
To this day one of the most recognized Offshore Powerboats in the World was Miss Geico with it's beautiful Chartreuse Paint job. It is a shame that Geico quit its Sponsorship of the Miss Geico Offshore as it was always the Show Stopper where ever they went and to me, got the name Geico Insurance out there better then anything that they had as advertisement and you could also add their Rigs in there also. ❤👍👍

Well there isn't any cold water it's the Gulf of Mexico dude. And there is never a dry day here.

Yes I agree with many the music does not help this video. People that watch this are boat lovers and gear heads and rather listen to the engines.
Maybe you couldn't tell, but when there was no music, all you could hear was wind. So you wouldn't hear the engine either way.

However, I agree with you on there being Alot of Boat Games out there. I actually used to play two by the name's of Ship Simulator Extremes and Hydro Thunder, those were some fun games back in the day.
@zArtic true but even on Google play I've seen a few. Not any good ones but there still is alot out there on various platforms and different styles of play as well but no I totally get what you are saying like mainstream systems for that concept in a multitude way.

Hmmm..... I find it hard to believe that Ms Geico outfitted with with two internal combustion engines could beat those from Turban Marine outfitted with two turban engines which generally break the 200+ Mph speed. Or were all the other boats in the race outfitted only with internal combustion engines as well?

the combustion engines are much more reliable so run at a more continues pace and run the same pretty much every time, unlike turbines.

John doe I doubt they have cam shafts at all. :D These are T-53 Lycoming turbines. The new boat has diesel engines now, but not in this video.
Josh D. Diggity In the video their is a couple of shots of the engines, they are a piston V design with double overhead camshafts.
