- This week I went back to Coney Island with my Mamiya RZ67 to shoot some more Portra 400 Medium Format film as part of a series of images that im working on.

Film will survive due to the dedicated photographers breathing new life into it.
Film is great, Film has flaws that make it look much more natural than digital, I dont like how when you see pixels on digital they are all uniform and even. In film grain is spread out randomly and uniquely and that makes it more realistic. It isnt perfect. Because Perfect is flawed. nothing is Perfect

Got my RB67 Pro S from Japan a few days ago, just waiting on a big 120 film delivery. Can’t wait to get out there and shoot with it in London...

Your photos are F£$K!ng awesome (do you over expose a little?), I haven’t had the chance to shoot film on a really sunny day yet (I live in London) as I only picked it up in September when I bought my first film camera (Canon EF). If you’re ever in London let me know, would love to get some tip from you.

Just subbed! Congrats on the video, captured the vibe of a photo walk perfectly. I actually just started my own street photography channel myself, so I know how hard it is to get good photos AND video at the same time. So kudos to the camerman (or woman haa) too!!
Very nice work all the way around! The last shot of your video, the guy in the hat with the mustache, was excellent. Suggestion: share a little more about your thought process and how you're working. Not so much f-stops & shutter speeds, but your thoughts about over-exposing and the film stock your using to get a certain look, etc. Teach it, brother, otherwise it's just pretty pictures! Keep up the good work!

Hey Willem, were the images in this video scanned the way you described in a previous video? By that, I mean with Epson Scan and Lightroom? I'm really loving the flat look you and Roman Spataro get in your photos.
These were lab scans! Film has a ton of dynamic range so you just have to ask for flat scans or use low contrast settings
@@WillemVerb Thanks for the reply. I've sent my film to both the FIND Lab and Carmencita but they haven't given me anything like you've got. And I shoot Portra 400 at 100. What lab are you using?
Did you tell the lab that you rated it at 200 so they can process the way iso200 films should be processed or you just let them do the iso400 way?

You should scan at Bushwick Community Darkroom! $6 for 120 color film and they scan pretty amazingly I must say.

These were done at a lab, usually an imacon or Epson v600
@@WillemVerb Thanks Willem. I'm curious, have you ever tried scanning your film with a dslr, and if so, how did you find the quality versus your epson scans? I use a 24 megapixel dslr with a macro lens on a light box and the quality for me is great, but I mainly shoot black and white film.
