I have transcended to become the OoT Lord. I can now beat the game without actually turning on my console.
It was already on from last night so technically I didn't turn it on
@@Topo842Half a power button press.
I don't even have a console 😊
That's nothing, I can beat Majora's Mask without ever having heard of it before.
Sure , use an emulator
If you are only not allowed to enter blue warps, you should be able to get 100% except: ocarina of time, song of time, prelude, nocturne and light arrows as they require the sprititual stones or certain medallions. You need light arrows for ganondorf, but the other 4 are not needed if you use glitches
You can rba for the medallions to activate LACS
@@PingasFumberto in that case you can just rba everything. you understand that this ruins the challenge right?
@@trollomane you can’t rba everything though
@@PingasFumberto thats not the point
This was really cool. Depending on your ruleset, you can get two nut upgrades by duplicating the deku scrub trigger. This is done in 100% runs and counts as source requirement.
Also, you didnt need a source of fire at all to complete shadow trial. You can actually get the chest with just the long shot by shooting the like like (sometimes useful for randomizer)
It might also be possible to get mask of truth, though you'd need to talk to someone who really knows the game to be sure. My hypothesis is you can use saria's song to text transfer glitch the running man as adult, and then wrong warp into the mask shop. I've never seen text transfer on the running man done as adult, but you can do it as child, and you can get the broken goron sword as child with the same glitch. So I cant see why it wouldnt be possible to do running man as adult.
You might be able to get heart piece 38 and 39 too if you're allowing wrong warps. Maybe even nocturne of shadows by warping into the cutscene. Theres probably a lot of warps you can do if you delay turning in the prescription so you can get a timer.
Yea I wanted to leave out wrong warping (besides that last skulltula) for the sake of simplicity.
Regarding TTG, I honestly don't remember if Saria's song works the same as adult as it does child. Could work though
as an outsider nut upgrade sounds so funny
Max% runs are some of my all time favorites in any challenge/tas/Speedrun category
You can quickly kill the Poe sisters in the FT by cornering them, throwing a nut to make them appear, and spam quick spin attacks. They don't have the time to disappear again. Bit tricky to pull off but worth it.
You don't have to glitch to get that skultulla at 19:12. I recently replayed OoT on my Wii U VC and if you position the Armos Statue slightly away from the wall, you can roll-leap off it and grab onto the ledge.
Interesting. I did try that a couple of times but couldn't get it to work, hence why I eventually did the bomb hover instead.
Holy crap I’m not the only one playing their Wii U
@@waninoko87 Wii U is better than ever since in the past couple years it's become extremely easy to mod. I modded mine last year and put about a terabyte of games on there. Great library of Wii, Wii U, and Virtual Console games. Wii U is still the best way to play some games that were designed around stylus or gamepad use. I moved most of my game saves to my computer to continue playing on CEMU, such as Xenoblade Chronicles X. Wii U is not quite as amazing as the 3DS in terms of library. I wouldn't recommend people buy a Wii U in 2024, but a 3DS could still be a great purchase
kid isnt tall enough to grab it, you can do with adult thou
@@johngeorgiou5340 No, I did do it with Young Link.
Love this idea. I tried doing this in Majoras's Mask a few years ago and it's a very fun and different than what I'm used to.
Not sure if it's in this version, but at least in the Randomizer there's actually a Pierre spawn on the Fire Arrow platform that you can summon. The main thing is that you can't reach him with the hookshot (or maybe you can with glitches), but it might have saved you some explosives.
Was hoping he was gonna do the skull token hookshot jump. "Where we droppin'?"
That's a vanilla thing.
sometimes you just get so used to solving problems with glitches that you forget about the easier methods lol
IIRC you need longshot for that scarecrow location but I could be wrong
you can use regular hookshot there. its just dependent on where you stand
Great content, tysm for doing it!! 😁 Greetings from Brazil
I only jumped the gate as a kid. It was the only thing that made sense when comparing heights of the fences in the pen.
Ditto, I only learned about the fence jump as an adult and was amazed. If only I could sheath the Master Sword IRL and try it out as a kid in the 90s....
Jumping over the ranch entrance was how I always escaped. I didn't know about the outer fence exit for a few years.
Wait what? You can escape elsewhere? I always went over the entrance as well
Excellent video and really fun. Thank you
Great vid, you deserve way more subs for this quality of video keep it up!
Hope you get more views man, such an interesting challenge!
Love the video man, I just started doing oot speedrun streams, and the idea of doing challenges like this sounds awesome. It’s such a great game.
You break my brain, the things you do amaze me, it's not even the glitches or clipping that got me, I didn't even know you could freeze the spikes with ice arrows and I played this game as a kid.
If there's one thing I regret about not showing in this playthrough, it's that if you already own a Zora Tunic, King Zora will give you a kiss as a reward for unfreezing him ;)
@FAI_CW I knew you could get the tunic before freeing king tadpole, thought he'd give you like a rupee but a kiss sounds more like Nintendo.
Awesome Video Bro!
All of it. Seriously, it's a whole ass speedrun category
what’s the category name? i couldn’t find dungeonless listed even on the category extensions
Good ol' Any% @@krispyking2450
This was a really god tier use of your expertise.
NAh man, fuck it. This waas a great video and the algorithm did right by me recommending it. You're getting the full support on this one from me.
Keep it up
Thanks, I really appreciate it. This took almost 3 months to make, so I'm glad it has found a few eyes :)
Dude good video, I hope you get more views!!!
I really like this never seen one like it hope you cross 1k subs soon!
This is a cool video. I did something a bit similar in TotK. I completed most of TotK before completing the first phenomena. I finished all shrines, had all pouch upgrades, completed more than half of the side quests and side adventures, had the master sword (before reaching the Korok Forest), and had almost all armour pieces and sets fully upgraded.
Weird. You didn't play the sound but i still heard king zora scooting over
Glad i found your Channel :)
I didn't know you could get double magic that early! Damn, a quarter of a century later and I'm still learning new things about this game lmfao
I can't figure out how the hell to get over to that spot to even try the side jumps as a child lol
@@mckibbenta I actually have no clue. It's been a while since I played it
This was a lot of fun, and seemed like a lot of work! ❤
I was on and off with this project, but the first gameplay recording was on the 3rd October so...yea it took a while to make.
"On October 3rd he asked me what day it is, 'it's October 3rd'"
Nice I will try this challenge as well but without even entering dungeons if possible ❤️
Before watching: i bet that the only itens that can't be obtained are Prelude of Light, the Nocturne of Shadows, the Light Arrows and Ganondorf's boss key. And maybe also some trade quest itens.
After watching: i totally forgot about ocarina of time and song of time, and that going back to child requires the forest medallion. Also didn't know about the requirements of the running man and the bombchu bowling.
I remember asking about a run without the use of blue warps in the speedrunning discord.
Good run ^^
NO BRO THIS MAN IS UNDERRATED
Actually the Fire Arrow Island has a trigger for the scarecrow, which you can reach with the long shot.
That's the map music for Donkey Kong Country, not smash bros.
Yea that one's on me.
I thought it was the remix from Smash Bros, but you're correct. It is the original.
Upvoted for using donkey Kong country ost in the intro.
Ah yes the map page from super smash bro's, my favourite donkey kong song
Selling the mask isnt an offence....the happy mask salesperson literally says thats the point. You borrow it and then sell it
damn bro, only 175 subs? underrated as hell
Awesome video, maybe also a majoras mask one next?
I feel like Beating a dungeon should be defined as "Beating the boss" which is the sole purpose you do a dungeon in the first place. Else you could just do the complete dungeon and just not step into the blue light, resetting the console
Fair enough. It wouldn't really change the end result though.
I would simply end up with the same items, just less hearts from the lack of heart containers.
@@FAI_CW which would be interesting too. Beat OOT with 3 hearts. Heart pieces are banned
I agree with your definition 100%. I consider dungeons completed the moment the dungeon's boss is defeated.
Since that's not what happened, the title feels misleading, and I stopped watching the moment Gohma was defeated.
20:33 THE CIMOOOOO JUMPSCARE
7:00
if you look at the dialogue you would see he wanted Link to do that & it's worded in such a way that I'm fairly certain you're being contracted to do that
so no not illegal
It might be because it’s 2 am but I’m confused. So the challenge is to see how far you can get through OOT without beating a dungeon. But the rules basically say “hey you can beat a dungeon, just don’t step into the light that teleports you out when you beat the dungeon also you can use glitches whenever you want to get around not using the blue lights”.
Is it just me or does this sound like just beating the game normally except you’re glitching to avoid using the blue lights???
As mentioned in the video, not using glitches to go to the various areas would stop the challenge dead in its tracks right from the start.
I also specifically picked the blue warps restriction since they are responsible for triggering the various story events, like beating Forest Temple allowing you to go back in time. If I were to leave out the boss fights, that would only subtract a few heart containers, nothing else meaninful in terms of gameplay.
Looking back on it, I probably agree that it should have been a more restrictive ruleset than it ended up being. When I started it I didn't know myself what was possible this way. OoT is a broken game lol
Thanks for your interest. Even if you don't watch, I wish you a nice day.
Just imagine pulling the sword for the first time was tied to the door of time being opened by SoT
You can actually reach the fire arrows with the longshot and pierre if you position yourself well.
This run came pretty close to being a Max% Child run. You should try that, you'll love getting the fire arrows lol.
19:32 you were sort of right tbh, it's a room with deku scrubs but in the Master Quest version
The Sonic CD music is the cherry on top of this video
Actually it's the Xenoblade chronicles 2 music that was the cherry
Xenoblade 2 music. A man of culture.
Naturally waiting for Majora's Mask version
So, what do we call this? Max% SR NDR (source required, no dungeon rewards)?
You actually don't need to hover yourself to Fire Arrow 29:41, because there's a pierre spot right there, so you could just play the scarecrow song you made and use the Longshot to get it, but you could also do a hookshot jump to get there without wasting your explosives
Whoa, you CAN jump up to that ledge in the Deku Tree? I did this as a kid once without knowing you weren't supposed to, but could never reproduce it so I figured I must have dreampt it.
It would have made for a great playground rumour back in the day for sure ;)
19:15 if you position the statue at the middle, you can jump and grab the ledge. might take you a few times, but something to keep in mind when doing a rando and don't have bombs yet!
I'm not sure if anyone else saw it but when you got Zelda lullaby Link had the ocarina of time
Lore of How much of Zelda Ocarina of Time can you complete without beating any dungeon? Momentum 100
Fun video! What was the farores wind up by the megaton hammer for? Unless I missed it I dont think you mentioned.
Also why cant you go back to child? Can adult link not clip through the door?
Sheik blocks the Master Sword pedestal once you become an adult, until you get the Forest Medallion. Since the entire point of the challenge is to not get stones/medallions, Sheik stands in front of the pedestal for the entire challenge once you get to adulthood.
Farore's Wind was just a fast way to get back to the top of Fire Temple to perform the boss key skip.
Not needed in any way, I just wanted to do it for style points.
@@TC_EHGL ahh right I forgot about sheik. Thanks for the reply!
@@FAI_CW ahhh I see. That does make sense now thank you!
Didn’t “beat the dungeon” because he didn’t use that exit door.
He beat the dungeons…..
I didn't get the rewards for beating the dungeons, now did I? ;)
Navi still tells me to beat the Deku Tree
killed the monsters, beat the boss, took the loot, dungeons beat.@@FAI_CW
CIMO REFERENCE?
For me I love doing the rba route just need to go into forest temple for bow
I understand that gamewise we would refer to the warp as beating the dungeon but it does not feel right to say that considering that primarily would refer to the story progressing. But in many dungeons the story doesnt neccesarily progress in a meaningful way unlike in Kokiri Forest where now the rest of the world opens up. So im not sure how to feel about that rule for the challenge but Ill just push that nitpick aside. Just wanted to give my thoughts on that.
It was only a matter of time until someone else did it Ig.
I had a run like this on stream in 2020 or so, and never got around to actually compiling it into a video. Good stuff tho owob
The fact that this vid has 45k views and this guy only has around 200 subs is fucking criminal
To be fair, this is like the only relevant video I've made lol.
The stars just alined on this one :)
Are there any means of seeing Ladinn's other artwork online?
He has no online presense (at least as of yet). If you send him an email, I'm sure he would let you see his portfolio though :)
@@FAI_CW Okay, I'll give it a shot later!
Disappointed that this defined beating a dungeon as blue warp-yes that does have implications (full lake hylia, returning to child, nocturne, etc) but generally by getting all dungeon items the challange is largely turned into a trivia bullet point of what dungeons actually unlock instead of a satisfying max%
I can understand the disappointment.
What would your definition be?
Even if we agreed on beating the boss is not allowed, that would only eliminate the heart containers from the equation.
The rest would stay exactly the same.
Maybe the challenge itself is the issue then.
@@FAI_CWwhen I saw the title I thought it’d be without entering dungeons in any capacity, running around hyrule doing everything else with glitches and whatnot. It sounds like ok there’s nothing to do but when you remember bombchus in well, stick and bottle Tom foolery, hookshot being out of dungeon, epona, etc, I was excited to see the limits of the game be pushed in that way. Maybe even a professor oaks challange epilogue where you go through each dungeon one at a time and see the what the items and blue warp each unlock that you physically cannot do without them or a “how much of the dungeons can we complete without the dungeon item” section since dungeons broadly mean the item in em, least the way I see it
Don’t get me wrong, the vids fun to watch and there’s some neat tricks done but I think it could be better described as a “no stones/medallians max%”
whats the song in the intro? i dont think its in the list of songs used
I belive it is from donkey Kong country returns.
"The Map Page" from Donkey Kong Country
Love The Thumbnail 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No vibruto, no bell, FAI, what the hell?
I wouldn't have been able to finish the video before christmas had I failed the bell.
Sadly no bell this time ;)
30:20 when I was playing, I didn't know you could jump over the side wall and thought jumping over Inigo and the small fence was the only way
Years later, when I finally learned from my brother that you can jump over the wall, I was surprised but disappointed because I thought jumping over Inigo was more cinematic
I'm not a fan of these rules. Beating a dungeon should include acquiring the key item if there is no boss.
first 2 sentences alone scared me off
29:50
Is the scarecrow on that island specifically for the randomizer? You can barely reach it with the longshot
From the top of my head, You can pretty much do everything but get light arrows or nocturn of shadow.
29:13
You can WHAT
It's a secret to everybody ;)
Thats fun uwu
When'd you get the hover boots?
On the first trip to Shadow Temple I grabbed the hover boots and left.
Should have been right after getting hookshot
how could you have gotten the final skultula as a kid? you need the song of storms for the grotto, but the song of storms is only available as adult.
In LttP I used to just get the special and move on.
How did you get ocarina of time before zelda lullaby
Cooking, might have missed it, tried rewinding
I actually don't have any ocarina in my inventory when I meet Zelda. The game simply displays it incorrectly, don't know why that happens. Pretty sure this occurs as adult aswell.
I pick up the Fairy Ocarina from Saria afterwards.
@@FAI_CWahh, ok. I figured that was the case, but then at 6:45 you use the sun song.. same deal again then?
Wasnt clear. But good to know.
Thank you for fast response! That was going to bug me. Happy new year yo you!
@@tobycat5799 well, cutscenes where you learn songs just put an ocarina in your hand regardless of possession (probably as a placeholder).
To actually PLAY songs I used a glitch called "Ocarina Items". You can't see it because of the shield, but at 6:45 link is actually holding his sword like an ocarina because of that glitch. You can do this with most other items like Deku Sticks, bombs, hookshot, etc.
Cheers mate, happy new year aswell :)
@@FAI_CW ahhh yea thatll do it I've watched so many speedruns I know what every glitch is (only doing infinate sword glitch myself)
Just its hard to imagine what's going on watching in explained.
Either way, subbed, more vids the better!
No logic rando runners. "First time?"
"They say Morpha rewards the Hookshot"
I wonder if you can use glitches and sequence breaking to get the ocarina of time before the fairy ocarina. Doing dodongos without the strength upgrade would be the biggest hurdle i think
You can definitely do that.
In fact, afterwards you can downgrade the Ocarina of Time to the Fairy Ocarina if you watch the Forest leaving cutscene with Saria after having obtained the OoT.
Funny how the game doesn't really have the powerups implemented as progressive upgrades.
LOL playing in Japanese made you forget the Mask Shop lends you the masks telling you to sell them to others and give him their payment
Small details :P
Now do this for Majora
Are the Spiritual Stones required to gain the Mask of Truth? Is it just not there in the shop if you didn't grab them?
EDIT: Ack, of course, the Running Man! I literally just fell for the same oversight as FAI described in the video. XP
Yeaaaa, playing randomizers made me forget that the mask quest isn't that straight forward.
should have showed 100 skulltula reward
20:33
Cimoooooooo jumpscare
You can FREEZE spikes?? I never once used the ice arrows...
You can do more there in Goron City
This challenges are getting ridiculous , beat the game without turning on the console
42:24 actually only the fire and water medallions, yeah, weird
15:13 YCCT
MM version when? 👀
Golden scoochla
Counting as "beating a dungeon" only via using the blue warp, kind of defies the whole concept. You're technically beating the dungeon. Just skipping cutscenes by going back to the title screen.
Its literally just a normal run.
Sorry. But i give this challenge a fail.
Maybe something changed towards the end, but i gave up after some time in the adult time.
How would you implement the rule?
If I don't fight the bosses, the only thing that changes is the total amount of hearts. Nothing else.
Is a dungeon "beaten" after I have collected the important item from said dungeon?
There is a VERY fine line here, that's why I went with how the game itself approaches the situation.
You know what, I apologize.
I was overanalyzing it (won't delete or edit comment for context if anyone passes by it)
If you're going for beating as MUCH as possible, beating the boss and skipping the warp still works. Since it still won't trigger flags of "beating it".
Not entering the boss room at all would only be if you're just beating the game and not for 99%.
For some reason my brain was telling me that some flags were still being triggered. Guess that's a side effect of typing while being tired lol
The route taken is amazing, that's for sure.
This is based af
99.9% I'd say.
There is an easier way to get the fire arrows.
why did you credit a donkey kong country song to super smash bros??
nvm read description you already know
And _EGG_
How come you didn't know how to open it when you were a kid?
I agree with most of this video, but killing the final boss of the dungeon - for me - is the definition of beating the dungeon.
Killing the boss is the "beating it" part, stepping into the portal the "leaving it" part.
Fair enough. I only went with the blue warp definition, because they specifically trigger the cutscenes.
Otherwise I'm on your side.
I would say that freeing the sage is beating the dungeon, and I'm not sure if the blue warp to the sacred realm for the medallion is required for the sage to be freed. I guess they are already standing there when you blue warp in, suggesting they were maybe freed with time to set up before you came.
