  • “Before the war, we used to live a happy and dignified life. We had everything. I had a good job. We had land to farm. First, we were besieged, then we were forcibly displaced from our homes,” says Taher, a 55-year-old internally displaced man from Syria’s Afrin.
He lives with his wife and two sons in an IDP camp.
Taher's wife suffers from chronic cardiac disease. And Taher himself also has a neurological disorder. Taher and his wife regularly visit Doctors of the World Türkiye’s health center in Afrin, supported by USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance.
Through this health center, they can access the medical treatment they need and receive the necessary medications.
“I hope one day all my family will have the chance to live in much healthier conditions again as before,” concludes Taher.
