Drifter being one of the oldest light bearers in existence and traveling to some of the farthest reaches of the universe I'd say he's grown too skeptical of everything but at the same time he's been proven right almost every time. Man, the Drifter’s tapes were one of my absolute favorite bits of lore and voice acting in the entire game. Seeing them turned into something like this is just incredible. Great work!

I have not played in D1, but being interested in the Lore I have heard alot about how it was handled back then. Though I don't know if that theme will even pop up in final shape, even if it is connected to the light theme. I could be wrong tho and I would love to see more good stuff like this
@@SlimeyZockt Ahhh, so you have not been truly beguiled! D1, while not the greatest of all games, felt like the corpse of a beautiful beast! You could see what it was, once, and what it could have been! The atmosphere was much better, the story tone was much better, the content you got (aside from the 1st 2 DLCS, ) was much better AND much more, and the art style felt more intricate and mysterious.
I have seen many examples of this. It looked alot less colorful, which I really like as it felt more like the fallout of something than nowadays it being just so much different. I feel like they went away from that "corpse of a beautiful beast" and went more to a growing plant. Instead of focusing of what was, they focus on what will be. It's ok, but when you have lore of guardians that have lived for thousands of years at some point that immortality must have felt more like a curse than anything else

I mean Ghost resurrected the one guardian with out a souls, personality, and a single mindless goal of killing anything that moves. That is also conveniently immune to the side effects of using darkness powers.
@@somethingsomething594 based off what i understand from our past (shrouded and generally un-talked about as it is). we died at the gate to the colony ships in Russia during the fall around the time that Rasputin's had his 'last' stand for earth. we were in basic leather armor but with ought a weapon or visor so we were rather a survivor or a gate guard who lost his gun that was from the area (meaning were most likely Russian). based on comments by our ghost the way we died initially was by falling but i do not know how this had us end up half way inside a car. it dos explain why we would not remember anything as when we fell we probably took one hell of a bump and now have amnesia (permanent) so we remember jack shit about ourselves. meaning we were both a nobody and a somebody as we had nothing fancy but at the same time were where much more prepped then a standard refugee and we survived the great fall (no our fall, that killed us) but died at the last minute. we had to be strong to make it that far even if we died.
Legend says he died thousands of times from freezing on an icy planet, and after ending up the only survivor of his party (for questionable reasons) his ghost encouraged him to find parts, modify it so he could commune with the Darkness. It’s how he summons the Taken in Gambit. All that, and he still knows to keep his distance
Except his taken aren’t real taken. They’re “counterfeit” as he calls them. Manufactured in the nine’s realm via the haul. That realm essentially being a place where you can dream up whatever you wish for.

Lowkey, Immaru might be one of those Dark Age ghosts (especially cause of his accent too). Might get some story about these rough ghosts as we revisit the Lucent Brood.
When you pick up your first patrol in the Throne World your ghost says that back in the day Immaru went by a different name when he was tormenting young ghosts so it's implied that Immaru has been here for quite some time
That text that the Drifter's Ghost spewed, it spoke to me. You learn that sometimes those who are silenced by perceived "greater powers" aren't victims, but are those who even the powerful fear.
If a lowly commoner with no money. Can perform actions against the gigantic powerful fully funded state with all of it’s team work and prying secret observation. You really have to question who really is the powerful one.
I've always loved Drifter. Why? He's the most real son of a b-tch in this game and the dude has seen and been in more sh-t than just about anybody else.
Amongst Guardian and Ghost pairs, we are also an anomaly. Lore tabs and even Ghost himself have mentioned that normal Guardian-Ghost pairs have a very strong neural link that develops as their mastery of the light matures, where even if they can't read each other's thoughts it lets them feel each other's emotions. But Ghost has said that even with our link they never have any idea what we're thinking or feeling. This might also be a reference to the meta concept that other characters talk about where Destiny is a game and we as players are inscrutable paracausal outer entities to them.
I do think this concept shouldve been explored, in the Lore of Rulk he was taking Ghosts to steal their power, to understand them and one was taken over by whatever the traveler is. It's voice said, "this one is not yours". Another Ghost was controlling a Gaurdian in Spire lore. So, it would be a nicer, deeper sub plot but also Bungie shelved it.
Very cool! Captures the artstyle of Bungie's cutscenes and adds some charm of your own with the manga-esque styling. The concept is great too, I wish there was a story beat of this kind.
A smarter writing staff with a most centralized staff and tighter storytelling wouldve long been answered what ghosts are what theyre truly here for and wouldve fully explored the drifter as a character it should be criminal that bungie left everything season of the drifter put on the table unanswered and unexplored except the 9.
I know man, Im worried that the people writing now aren't the same people writing before, and that the direction of the story wasn't agreed on, so now the vision isn't shared. I'm also worried that the writers don't know the fully story of Destiny, and don't have time to make things good. We must make Bungie realize that good is better than fast, and that great is better than good!. 👊
ANd he ain't wrong. I trust our Ghost is our buddy, but he isn't the prime example of how ALL Ghosts are. Drifter's Ghost is an example. Hell, the Ghost from the Dark Age are an example. AMARU is an example that they are still around. I still wonder if further ahead on the story we will find more Ghost that are douchbags.

Yeah fam, when he talked about the ghosts from the Dark Age, since we weren't alive during that time, the closest thing that I could grasp in my mind are Immaru and Hive ghosts... I still think about them once in a while these days. The very first time I crushed a Hive ghost I got the chills big time because it felt wrong.

Really enjoy the work you're doing. Also noticed the little easter eggs you put in. Sadly most artists on destiny 2 aren't very critical of the game which I understand but its a bit dissapointing.
Being critical takes so much energy. If you're an artist and you have other things in life, why make your art contain all of the negativity and bad energy it takes to be critical? Doesn't make sense to me.

@@NihilisticRealism Yes, yes, Elden Ring is most excellent! I find it ironic that people with money today, value art less. In the past, it was rich people who commissioned art in the 1st place! Who coveted it the most! I think most rich of today are of a lesser quality. They are pawns, and collect and horde power out of desperation, rather than to use for grander designs. They do nothing beneficial with their power, because they are scared of losing it, and because it must be used for someone else's purposes. As such, I think what will happen, (and is happening,) is migration away from establishment products, because of how atrocious they've become. Their empires will crumble and fall, because they will not have incentive for people to live in, and defend them. The things people will then go to will be like Elden Ring: treating their customers with respect, and not wasting their time. Then, we will live in a world governed by quality! Until those empires become complacent, and the whole things happens all over again.

This video and some footage of D1 makes me wish for the old atmosphere. I never played D1 but ngl the new light intro cinematic that they ported over from D1 with the astronauts and the traveler made me want more of that. Which is probably why I love Witch Queen so much, considering it has that similar feeling of mystery. Drifter goated btw
I know! The experiences in Destiny need to be crafted, and mysterious, and wondrous! Much of what is made today, feels rushed, and shallow. If Bungie wants people to stay past Final Shape, (as they want to continue Destiny indefinitely, ) they gotta start thinking: Good over fast. Great over good.
This is PHENOMENAL. I would actually kill (In game lol) to get some more cutscenes about drifters past. About how he was those monsters frozen in ice and killed temporarily killing his ghost so it won’t bring him back dying of hunger
I haven’t played Destiny since shortly after Forsaken, but I like to keep up with the lore of the game. This might be why it took me until like the very end of the video to realize this wasn’t actually from the game, but a fan creation. You’ve really nailed Bungie’s aesthetic here, and I think it would be absolutely phenomenal if you did a partnership with a lore channel like Byf or Myelin.

I've said this on your other videos, but your cutscenes are just so good. Honestly in many ways I think they are better then some of the ink blot cutscenes that exist in game. Even if I think the lore and story have become a mess of retcons and I think the game itself is an irrecoverable hollow shell I'll still come to see what you cook up. The Final Shape ain't gonna get my play time, but you'll get my watch time.

Ever since day 1 I was always causious of Ghost and the Traveler. That much power doesnt come around for free. I also called Stasis back in D1 as well as Strand and i speculated that we would get another subclass similar to solar but maybe closer to SIVA. Bungie writers are good, but a bit...predictable. Im telling all who isnt too skeptical of what I've, our allies are not who expect them to be and our enemies are not our enemies. The Vanguard are there to keep us and our Guardian in-line and watched, which is why Zavala was so mad when we took on Stasis...because Ghost cant control it while we can. Strand was taught as a means of returning some control through the "weave of time" but the rate at which we learned how to use it was faster than Ghost could relay the same understanding to the Traveler or to the Vanguard. We will lose Ghost...we will forever lose the Light...we will be at odds with humanity...we will be at war with the Vanguard...and the Witness will be our leader, no, our partner. Havent you wondered why the Witness just so happened to stop when the Traveler was blocked in the Red War and started moving when it was released? The Witness thought we had caught on and eliminated the Traveler. The Traveler is not the Gardener...it is the Winnower! Look st the cutscene of when the Witness opens the Traveler!!! Branches shoot out from the Traveler and the Witness enters front those branches holding it open! Why would the gardener use its own to make itself vulnerable? What other reason is there that we have been fighting against the wrong enemy all this time. Stasis, strand and the new subclass with be the new solar, arc and void because we wont have the Light anymore. We will essentially become the same thing as the Witness, in fact i believe the Witness may actually serve our Guardian. I believe our Guardian is a reincarnation of the true Gardener and the Witness is there as our witness. He is going to witness our return and our awakening. Get it? We are the Gardener! We dont need the Light because we are truly paracausal and truly immortal. If anything, the Light were acting as chains to keep us restrained, which is why there wss such a push from Ghost and the Vanguard to further restore the Light in the Red War. Just watch, thinga are going to be interesting.
There's something I want to say but can't quite put into the right words, about this incredibly unique place this has as a piece of Destiny art right now. There's this overlap of completely individual artistic prowess, a love for the parts of destiny that reeled us all in, and the way we seem to feel about the game at current. I don't think anything else i've seen has touched on the feelings I've had about the game right now like this has. Even if you want to consider the bits and background lines lamenting about the state of destiny just some kind of shitposting, it's just.... this expression of creativity alongside it.... People doing essentially short video essays about Bungie's choices has never considered the artistic inspiration it's given me, like even though I haven't even played in weeks I still wonder how my guardian would be interacting with characters, and the old pieces of content that made me think that way- like Season of the Drifter. I will always fucking adore your work and someday I hope to try my own hand at something so cool. also what program do u use is it like drawings that you the load into a video editing program or do th
It is good to know that I have inspired you to remember what Destiny can, and should be! I use photoshop and after effects for the drawings. I use Illustrator for the vector design stuff. I will do a tutorial eventually, but the drawings are parallax with ink transitions.
Drifter was always the smartest. I wish they did the story more justice by actually keeping it interesting. The build up to the darkness was good but they messed up around shadowkeep. Lightfall should of been wayyy darker than what we got.

I've always loved Drifter. Why? He's the most real son of a b-tch in this game and the dude has seen and been in more sh-t than just about anybody else.

Amongst Guardian and Ghost pairs, we are also an anomaly. Lore tabs and even Ghost himself have mentioned that normal Guardian-Ghost pairs have a very strong neural link that develops as their mastery of the light matures, where even if they can't read each other's thoughts it lets them feel each other's emotions. But Ghost has said that even with our link they never have any idea what we're thinking or feeling. This might also be a reference to the meta concept that other characters talk about where Destiny is a game and we as players are inscrutable paracausal outer entities to them.

I do think this concept shouldve been explored, in the Lore of Rulk he was taking Ghosts to steal their power, to understand them and one was taken over by whatever the traveler is. It's voice said, "this one is not yours". Another Ghost was controlling a Gaurdian in Spire lore. So, it would be a nicer, deeper sub plot but also Bungie shelved it.

A smarter writing staff with a most centralized staff and tighter storytelling wouldve long been answered what ghosts are what theyre truly here for and wouldve fully explored the drifter as a character it should be criminal that bungie left everything season of the drifter put on the table unanswered and unexplored except the 9.
I know man, Im worried that the people writing now aren't the same people writing before, and that the direction of the story wasn't agreed on, so now the vision isn't shared. I'm also worried that the writers don't know the fully story of Destiny, and don't have time to make things good.
We must make Bungie realize that good is better than fast, and that great is better than good!. 👊

I trust our Ghost is our buddy, but he isn't the prime example of how ALL Ghosts are. Drifter's Ghost is an example. Hell, the Ghost from the Dark Age are an example. AMARU is an example that they are still around.

Yeah fam, when he talked about the ghosts from the Dark Age, since we weren't alive during that time, the closest thing that I could grasp in my mind are Immaru and Hive ghosts... I still think about them once in a while these days. The very first time I crushed a Hive ghost I got the chills big time because it felt wrong.

Really enjoy the work you're doing. Also noticed the little easter eggs you put in. Sadly most artists on destiny 2 aren't very critical of the game which I understand but its a bit dissapointing.

I find it ironic that people with money today, value art less.
In the past, it was rich people who commissioned art in the 1st place! Who coveted it the most!
I think most rich of today are of a lesser quality.
They are pawns, and collect and horde power out of desperation, rather than to use for grander designs.
They do nothing beneficial with their power, because they are scared of losing it, and because it must be used for someone else's purposes.
As such, I think what will happen, (and is happening,) is migration away from establishment products, because of how atrocious they've become.
Their empires will crumble and fall, because they will not have incentive for people to live in, and defend them.
The things people will then go to will be like Elden Ring: treating their customers with respect, and not wasting their time.
Then, we will live in a world governed by quality! Until those empires become complacent, and the whole things happens all over again.

This video and some footage of D1 makes me wish for the old atmosphere. I never played D1 but ngl the new light intro cinematic that they ported over from D1 with the astronauts and the traveler made me want more of that. Which is probably why I love Witch Queen so much, considering it has that similar feeling of mystery.

I haven’t played Destiny since shortly after Forsaken, but I like to keep up with the lore of the game. This might be why it took me until like the very end of the video to realize this wasn’t actually from the game, but a fan creation. You’ve really nailed Bungie’s aesthetic here, and I think it would be absolutely phenomenal if you did a partnership with a lore channel like Byf or Myelin.

I've said this on your other videos, but your cutscenes are just so good. Honestly in many ways I think they are better then some of the ink blot cutscenes that exist in game. Even if I think the lore and story have become a mess of retcons and I think the game itself is an irrecoverable hollow shell I'll still come to see what you cook up. The Final Shape ain't gonna get my play time, but you'll get my watch time.

Ever since day 1 I was always causious of Ghost and the Traveler. That much power doesnt come around for free. I also called Stasis back in D1 as well as Strand and i speculated that we would get another subclass similar to solar but maybe closer to SIVA. Bungie writers are good, but a bit...predictable.
Im telling all who isnt too skeptical of what I've, our allies are not who expect them to be and our enemies are not our enemies. The Vanguard are there to keep us and our Guardian in-line and watched, which is why Zavala was so mad when we took on Stasis...because Ghost cant control it while we can. Strand was taught as a means of returning some control through the "weave of time" but the rate at which we learned how to use it was faster than Ghost could relay the same understanding to the Traveler or to the Vanguard.
We will lose Ghost...we will forever lose the Light...we will be at odds with humanity...we will be at war with the Vanguard...and the Witness will be our leader, no, our partner. Havent you wondered why the Witness just so happened to stop when the Traveler was blocked in the Red War and started moving when it was released? The Witness thought we had caught on and eliminated the Traveler. The Traveler is not the Gardener...it is the Winnower! Look st the cutscene of when the Witness opens the Traveler!!! Branches shoot out from the Traveler and the Witness enters front those branches holding it open! Why would the gardener use its own to make itself vulnerable? What other reason is there that we have been fighting against the wrong enemy all this time.
Stasis, strand and the new subclass with be the new solar, arc and void because we wont have the Light anymore. We will essentially become the same thing as the Witness, in fact i believe the Witness may actually serve our Guardian. I believe our Guardian is a reincarnation of the true Gardener and the Witness is there as our witness. He is going to witness our return and our awakening. Get it? We are the Gardener! We dont need the Light because we are truly paracausal and truly immortal. If anything, the Light were acting as chains to keep us restrained, which is why there wss such a push from Ghost and the Vanguard to further restore the Light in the Red War.
Just watch, thinga are going to be interesting.

There's something I want to say but can't quite put into the right words, about this incredibly unique place this has as a piece of Destiny art right now. There's this overlap of completely individual artistic prowess, a love for the parts of destiny that reeled us all in, and the way we seem to feel about the game at current. I don't think anything else i've seen has touched on the feelings I've had about the game right now like this has.
Even if you want to consider the bits and background lines lamenting about the state of destiny just some kind of shitposting, it's just.... this expression of creativity alongside it.... People doing essentially short video essays about Bungie's choices has never considered the artistic inspiration it's given me, like even though I haven't even played in weeks I still wonder how my guardian would be interacting with characters, and the old pieces of content that made me think that way- like Season of the Drifter.
I will always fucking adore your work and someday I hope to try my own hand at something so cool.

It is good to know that I have inspired you to remember what Destiny can, and should be! I use photoshop and after effects for the drawings. I use Illustrator for the vector design stuff. I will do a tutorial eventually, but the drawings are parallax with ink transitions.

Drifter was always the smartest. I wish they did the story more justice by actually keeping it interesting. The build up to the darkness was good but they messed up around shadowkeep. Lightfall should of been wayyy darker than what we got.
I am hoping that such filler is smoothed over by the next DLC being - good.
