My grandma just passed away from pneumonia last Monday. 🙁 Her body went into shock and started shutting down. Couldn't say goodbye bc of covid protocol. She was a great lady. Love you forever Grandma.

TAKE VITAMIN D SUPLLEMENT IN WINTER, ESCPECIALLY IF MIDDLE OR OLD AGE OR DARKER SKINNED OR SUSCEPTABLE TO ILLNESS.
Had double pneumonia twice in two years with my infection markers literally off the chart (maxed out on scale)
Turned out my body wasn't fighting any pneumococcal so I just got very sick and ended up hospitalised both times.
Best part was my GP turned me away 3 times saying I was fine despite me explaining I was constantly vomiting and hadn't eaten for a week and coughing and couldn't breath and having to get a taxi to the local surgery as I couldn't walk.
In the end I got a taxi to the hospital and the guy I saw didn't even examine me and just got me a bed immediately I must have looked so ill by that stage.
Best part was the practice manager went off on me for complaining and the only reason I didn't sue was because I didn't want to take money out of the NHS.
At the end of my second stint (10 days in hospital) they got this cartoon sized syringe (enormous) and stuck it in my back to drain my lungs.
It filled it with lime green fluid, yum. I couldn't believe all that fluid could be in my lungs or imagine how I managed to breath at all,.
They did tests given I had such severe pneumonia two years running and found the issue with my immune system, they had no explanation, just said stuff happens basically.
I then had pneumonia vaccines which seemed to trigger my immune response to fighting most pneumococcal again.
Unfortunately the specialist centre I needed to go to was a train journey away and I got falsely accused of trying to avoid payment on an appointment so decided I would never use trains again and discharged myself and just hope the vaccines have worked.
They tried to fine me £1,300 even though I actually went to the ticket office and asked for a ticket that covered my cost of my journey without one (I didn't know you needed one to board a train as that law had just come in and I don't use trains normally).
Apparently I got sent a summons for a court date which I never received and the first I knew was a letter in the post saying I had been found guilty and fined in my absence,
I had to fight it all while still recovering and couldn't get any legal help so did it all myself. In the end they said if I paid £40 they would drop it. I wanted to take it to crown court but for decided to just pay as this was the moist cursed of years.
I had also received eviction notice from my flat as landlord decided to sell the property and had my brother pass away.
Amazing what life can throw at you sometimes but here I am, still standing.
I still get a lot of pain from the scarring of my lungs even though it has now been well over a year since my last bout,
I weighed around 11 1/2 stone (around 75 Kilos) before falling ill and well under 9 stone (around 56 Kilos) coming out of hospital and barely able to walk (just a few yards at a time)
As with most people with Covid and other illness it was found I had vitamin D deficiency and put on course of high dosage once out of hospital.
I now take vitamin D supplement in Winter as vitamin D deficiency could well be what triggered my poor immune response to pneumococcal

My dad had pneumonia when I was either in middle school or high school. I was definitely younger than I am now. He was sick for a month & my mom took him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with it & spent a week in the ER. During that time, my grandmother stayed at our apartment to watch my brother & I, making sure we got up for school, while my mom stayed at the hospital with my dad while he was recovering. The whole time I, along with my brother, grandmother & mom prayed to God every day & every night, begging him to not take him away from us. He answered our prays & helped my father recover. He was finally discharged after a week & we were all so happy to have him back home. He was still a bit sick, but all he needed was bed rest & medicine from the doctor. He's healthy now & isn't sick anymore. I'm also 20 & I thank God everyday for helping my father recover. He is a very loving husband to my mom & loving father to me & my brother.

My infection markers were maxed out with no immune response from my body and I thought I was ill when I was admitted on the spot when I went to the hospital but once the drugs kicked in and kick started an immune response, wow!
I don't remember it but one of the Doctors said I asked him to let me die.

I’m 32 and started feeling sick about a week ago. I kept correlating it to food thinking it was something I ate. That next day everything declined. I became very fatigued, night sweats and then I started feeling a pain in my chest. I’m still thinking I got food poisoning. Days go bye and I didnt get any better so I had to the ER. They did blood test and x rays. And turns out I have pneumonia. I’m honestly just thankful to be alive. I know this is all happening for a reason. I just want to live better and be healthy because we only get this one body. I truly believe that was my saving grace was the fact I am so young. Because this disease can be worse for those more vulnerable. I’m on the road to recovery and healthy living!!!!

You can be seemingly fine for a few minutes up to some hours (at most is 2 whole days) after the incident that caused water to enter your respiratory system. There’s two forms of it. Dry drowning & Secondary drowning. (Dry drowning typically takes less time to show signs of a problem) They’re both rare conditions but it’s more common in children since their lungs are smaller, however, adults are not exempt from it. It can be potentially fatal if left untreated. Water is scary y’all

I was a few hours from death due to pneumonia and pluracy caused by flu. I can assure you, it's horrific. It turned my lungs into a tight mess. I could only breath at 5% usual capacity. I was passing out constantly. I would only stay awake to vomit the fluids I had taken in. The cycle went 30 minutes to 1 hour awake where I drank liquids and vomited. When I was done, I would pass out again.
If you get flu, take care.

@@dangalan8633 A G.P. came to the house to see me and called for an ambulance. When I got there they put me on a drip immediately and then gave me some toast because I was malnourished after barely eating for a couple of weeks. I passed out for around 24 hours and the drip had helped me feel a little better. Every day after that I was visited by a lung therapist who would tilt my bed so my feet were above my head, I would lie on my side and breathe out as hard as I could, not coughing but just pushing out air. This caused much of the mucus to fly out. I spent a couple of weeks in hospital and I was good to go. Just some minor scarring on my left lung.

    Good video.
Just one point to clarify. At 2:00 you seem to indicate that the patient will start feeling breathless due to accumulation of CO2 - this is incorrect. The reason people feel breathless is due to diminished blood oxygen level so giving them supplemental oxygen helps the symptoms. Retention of CO2 happens much, much later and is a grave complication and usually happens in people with existing lung condition like COPD. It is very unusual to happen in people with normal lungs. Giving oxygen on it's own in this scenario is actually even more dangerous and it is they who are ventilated.
So, in summary, oxygen is given for low blood oxygen and NOT for high blood CO2.

Now I fully understand why when I had pneumonia is was soooo painful.
Couldn’t lay down because of the pain; couldn’t stand up for long because I was breathless.
    Days became a blur.
Took days, and multiple trips to the hospital, to get a diagnosis.

I had pneumonia twice in my life, the second time I got it I was 8 years old. I ended up staying from school for almost 2 months. The entire first month we’d go to my doctor every week as my condition worsened but she just kept saying that it was just a virus and all I had to do was rest. Then one night my mom took me to the ER cause I could barely breathe and there they did an x-ray of my chest and the pneumonia spread all throughout my entire lungs. After that I had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks. Not fun. Btw the cause of the pneumonia we’re cats. I had a lot of stray cats in my neighborhood and I played with them all the time and I probably touched my face a couple times after petting them.

Pneumonia has been a horrifying journey. Had it back when I was 9 and I was hospitalized for around 3 months. At the time I was so scared of dying, seeing all my relatives and friends crying beside my bed. Every day I struggle to even sleep and I could only watch as the clock ticks away from 1 am, 2 am, 3 am... I relentlessly cough and always have the urge to throw up just because the coughing was too intense. Had to take medications almost every few hours and even some injections. I couldn't express how proud I am of myself to have vanquished such an illness and I hope everyone who currently has pneumonia gets well soon and have a nice day. I've just had TWO episodes of bacterial pneumonia. The first time I also had pluresy. It was the cruelest thing I have ever experienced .The 2nd episode was about 4 weeks from the first attack. This time I had a triple whammy - pneumonia, asthma and a virus . I'm very lucky the south Australian ambulance service are less than 3 kl from my home. It took the ambo's 5 minutes to arrive and start working on me. then to the hospital in Elizabeth. I'm home now trying to recover - feeling very tired and weak. Feeling very frustrated. I'm 75 years young.

I’ve had Phenomena 3 times and each time I had antibiotics they always fixed it don’t stress out too much if you have it as long as you have a good doctor and antibiotics you will be fine it’s hard to deal with and I cried so many times when I had it.

I had pneumonia aged 44 living in a four season State and it turned into a really bad pneumonia winter for the State Down Under in 1997. Then again at 54 living in the tropics in 2007. The first time was accompanied by Pleurisy and Asthma, I was in a really bad way. Both times I was hospitalised but never told whether I had viral or bacterial pneumonia. I am guessing viral as I was never given any medication outside of using a nebuliser the first time. The second time was purely to monitor me because no treatment was given. I am surmising pneumonia in the tropics isn't common. I was working with the public the first time and it was a bitterly cold and wet winter and caring for my mother who was living with us the second time.
Pneumonia is no joke yet so many are able to carry on with their normal lives with it, without medical attention. As many actually did in 1997 which made me feel really bad that I couldn't. I even had to miss out on seeing Phantom of the Opera, my husband took his sister instead at least it was her wedding anniversary which didn't impress her husband lol.

I had pneumonia a couple years ago. Thankfully it was bacterial and a non-flesh eating type. Still landed me in the hospital for 5 days and out of work for 2 weeks. The after effects persisted an entire week after the symptoms were gone and I could barely do anything from being too sore from coughing. I'm fully vaccinated from COVID-19 because I refuse to ever catch pneumonia again.

Just a side note for people with pneumonia: Do not take any cough suppressants to clear the fluid in the lungs (like the video said, coughing is a coping method for pneumonia) unless indicated by a doctor.

I had pneumonia once, in the 2 or 3 grade. I remember my doctor thought it was asthma, and gave me an inhaler. After that didn't work, they diagnosed me with pneumonia. I stayed home for a week, and luckily, I got better to a point where I wasn't coughing 24/7. Then I was off to school again 🙄The worst part was the coughing. I was always coughing mucus, and I had to have a bucket near me at all times. I also felt nauseous, and had headaches. I hope none of you ever get it!

As a child from age 6 to age of 9 or even 10, I had about 2 pneumonias per year. My immune system was literally as if I was HIV positive. If another kid sneezes or has some sort of a rash , I'm next in line to get it.
The cure however was quite simple. Each year my parents started taking me to sea for a week (breathing the iodine vapor/salt from the area + the sun exposure in the non dangerous hours ), then right after we are back from the coastline in our city , they would send me to my grandma who was living in a mountain village that had paved roads up to 2km heights.
TLDR: The air pressure and change of climate from the altitude did wonders for my immune system. On a side note: Being scared of Trash19 virus is rather amusing to me , having been needled with Penicillin and Gentamicin regularly while getting all kinds of skin diseases due to poor immune system.

I got pneumonia during spring break in high school. Around the last day before break, I felt awful in gym. While my family was out of town, I spent 2 weeks at my grandma's, struggled to stay hydrated, and had regular IV appointments.
Ironicly, after I recovered and was back in school, we were covering the resphitory system in anat & phiz and learned about pnemonia.

It's like i need constant clean air to breathe. At work my colleagues smoke alot and I used to come home feeling breathless. I had to quit work just because of it.

My grandma passed away due to this last Friday. She initially complained pain in her stomach but didn’t mention the shortness of breath. We changed three local physicians until situation got worsen. Eventually we admitted to nearest hospital where she could survive only two days because it was already too late. Later found out she had pneumonia and had difficulty breathing in the last day. Im so angry by the inability of three physicians who couldn’t detect the symptoms 😡
