    • @dutchhomebarista
      @dutchhomebarista  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The "choking" was my mistake. Normaly I use the two cup button and stop the extraction on 25 grams of coffee. In this video I accidentaly used the single cup button, which resulted in to litte coffee therefore I pressed it twich (this is the choking part). The extraction in this video is far from ideale. The hand grinder I used grinds to fine or to course. Best to aim for 20-25 grams output in 25-30sec.

    I've had my DeLonghi Dedica for 18 months. As I brew the espresso, water new streams from the steaming wand, even though it's set to the "off" position. Other videos suggest it's a problem with a gasket or o-ring. I have opened up the machine, but I don't know which gasket to replace, i.e., where it's found inside the machine. Can anyone provide guidance, ideally by referring to the diagram of the inside of the machine?

    • @dutchhomebarista
      @dutchhomebarista  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sounds like there is maybe something wrong with you machine. On my DeLonghi I do experience inconsistency in steam pressure and temperature when steaming. When that happens I just keep on steaming and the pressure recovers afther a couple of seconds. If steam option stops out of its own, then maybe it's good to check your machine.

      My Dedica also gives some condens while steaming, but not that much I think (every few seconds or so I see condens when the block is heating up). The Silvia wand takes longer practice. It took me a few weeks to master it. The "trick" for me was to place the tip just on the surface of the milk in an angle that makes the milk spin.

      Great, thank you. I would like to buy machine, and dedica and gaggia classic are on my shortlist. But if i get it right, for gaggia you need to have grinder, so that makes dedica much cheaper, and still good choice.
      Can you please recommend some best value for money grinders?

    • @dutchhomebarista
      @dutchhomebarista  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@DrPapasle The Gaggia is a better machine but you need a good grinder for a good extraction (>$250). I don't have much experience with grinders. But Baratza grinders are good value for quality. With the pressurised basket of the DeLonghi a cheaper handgrinder or pre-groud will do.
